Hey Tony!! I'm at a complete dead end with getting my 45 outboard running by Chrysler. I've confirmed there is really good spark on both cylinders, fuel is getting to the carburetor, the compression is very good but she refuses to start, ive also checked if the timing of the spark is correct by getting the piston to the top of the cylinder and it fires as it hits the top.. Im down to thinking of there is no fuel output from the jet of the carb (which is clear of debris) but while trying to crank, I see no fuel coming out of the jet (not 100% sure on that since it could be bypassing behind the throttle flap and getting fuel) Once in awhile i do get a loud backfire out of it but nothing more. Could it potentially be getting too much fuel? Could the reeds be bad? Im not sure what else it could be and some help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I would check for a sheared flywheel key. Usually when it backfires its a timing issue. If the flywheel nut is not torqued properly (85 ftlbs I think , have to check) it will shear. Did you try squirting fuel into the combustion chamber and try starting it?
