Can i get some info on parts used for your ignition. I did away with cdi on my 1970 120 and looking into doing away with points next.

Marine technology always fascinates me because it's (at least back then) 30 years behind in technology. I had a small trolling motor from the 50s. It was sooo simple and trips me out the way it's cooled. So much fun.

The 6 has a fussy choke. The 9.9 needs a carb overhaul, it has a sneeze.

Do you happen to have a DXF file for the hole locations on the flywheel puller?

Is that a magnapower I ignition? My '78 35 HP looks almost identical but without the starter or the coil packs. Mine's magneto ignition and pull start.

I’ve got a ‘76 30hp. Struggling to work out how to connect the control cables, especially to the gear selector side. Mine looks very similar to the one in this vid. Have you got any footage/pics of the other side of the motor (with the hood off). Thanks!

Great to see another Chrysler being saved! My Chrysler outboards collection is always growing and two of my favorites that I use regularly in summer are 1968- 20 HP. Manual start, tillers. My very first outboard was a Chrysler 7-1/2 from Kmart in Bay City Michigan - 1979! Keep 'em coming!

That's how I used to check spark... An inline spark tester works great though. Plus you can actually run the engine with it connected!

I've had this 35 (its a 20 hood) a few years now. Been in storage. It was a bit stubborn at first but seems ok now. Little bit choppy but I am running 20:1 mix.

Today I removed both sets of points and use emery cloth on them. Also emeried all the connections to the points and the condensers.

I can't get mine running.. Im down to timing issue, carb or reeds.

Hey Tony!! I'm at a complete dead end with getting my 45 outboard running by Chrysler. I've confirmed there is really good spark on both cylinders, fuel is getting to the carburetor, the compression is very good but she refuses to start, ive also checked if the timing of the spark is correct by getting the piston to the top of the cylinder and it fires as it hits the top.. Im down to thinking of there is no fuel output from the jet of the carb (which is clear of debris) but while trying to crank, I see no fuel coming out of the jet (not 100% sure on that since it could be bypassing behind the throttle flap and getting fuel) Once in awhile i do get a loud backfire out of it but nothing more. Could it potentially be getting too much fuel? Could the reeds be bad? Im not sure what else it could be and some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pull start broke. Had to make a new shaft for it. Starts with a drill but I will get the pull start installed.

Maybe the float bowl is dirty?

I too enjoy Chrysler outboards. I have a 79- 7.5 I bought 44 years ago when I was 12. I also picked up two 1968 20 hp's that run real strong. This weekend I'm meeting up with a guy to purchase a 6 hp Westbend/ Chrysler. I can't wait! I'm located in AuGres, Michigan
