For the final film mix, takes 18,19, and 20 were used. So if each take sounds slightly different, that's why. Not just one take was what was used, it was multiple takes.
If you listen you'll notice they used the beginning of take 19 and the rest of take 18 for the opening crawl, also sounds like they used the end of take 20 too
It was Chancellor in Peril. Lego Star Wars 1 came out at the same time as Revenge of the Sith so they used music from the Original Trilogy for Episode III's levels. But in the Complete (at the time) Saga, those levels use the Episode III music.
@@rainbowrunner1550 Yeah I remember the first LEGO Star Wars video game which in Revenge of the Sith they added the original trilogy soundtracks. Good thing they added the real music from Revenge of the Sith in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga! Though the ROTS cutscenes still have the soundtrack from the original trilogy but playing the game will play the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack.
I noticed that each take for the opening crawl sounds less and less triumphant, with Take 16 being the most triumphant out of all of them. I'd even put it in the movie.
Does anyone else think John Williams might have repurposed this track for when Rey meets Luke in The Force Awakens? They're not exactly the same but they're certainly similar.
He's a great composer with very memorable music, but even if you listen to Harry Potter's score, you find Williams to be a bit of a one-trick pony sometimes. I still love his work, but, it's true.
@@PlastikGUbilationz Mmm, not what I meant. Give a listen to "Finn's Confession" from Force Awakens and then to the track from Phantom Menace where Anakin says goodbye to his mother. They're virtually the same. And for distinct characters, there should also be distinct themes.
Wondering at the provenance of this recording - is that actually John Williams (conducting the LSO) calling the takes? Wild. Anyway, having seen the inside of more than a few recording studios, I can relate. It's not an easy score and undoubtedly they did not rehearse enough. Not like they'd been hearing it played countless times for years.
The track at the beginning was Williams' first version for the binary sunset scene. Then Lucas said the force theme was needed at that point and Williams composed the famous version. The emotional content is completely different...
Does anybody else think the binary sunset alternate medley sounds ever so slightly like the 'a friend' track (Luke's post return of the jedi and pre the force awakens' theme) from the mandalorian season 2 in a few places? Maybe that's just me...
Luke went back on his Landspeeder & went back Home & watched his uncle Owen & his Aunt Beru been killed by the Imperial Stormtrooper & destroyed his home on The other side of Mos Eiesly on Tattooine in A New Hope.
@@schlockading Nah the horns are there if you listen closely. They were probably just experimenting with letting the trombones and the triangle opening up instead of a block chord as heard in the previous takes
Well we have to rescue the princess what princess she’s targeted for termination well better her than us what if it’s you well I got an idea here I’m going to put these on you Chewie Growls um ok Han you do it
So neat to hear the different takes. As an orchestral musician and Star Wars nerd, I love to hear alternate interpretations to the one I know so well.
5:01 OMG, i've never heard an alternate take before, gave me chills!
9:47
certainly the best piece of this absolute work of art. i am truly in tears
5:01 the winds are very audible here. Wow! So cool.
Some silence from about 2:30 and then at 5:01 someone says, "Take sixteen." and the music starts again!
Yeah these are trial takes...
What if that was John Williams??🤔😀
@@quoniam426 These should've been separate tracks.
I noted similarly,

That's right! For the first movie, A New Hope, they did this. Afterward, the main title was always played in one take for every movies.
SO beautiful at 2:49
remember the jedi outcast game? love this
man i love this game
Good ol' Take 18.
IBC don’t you mean take 19?
1:02 and 1:30
I’ve only heard that part of this track from the 2004 DVD version DVD menu on Yavin, the rebellion walking around.
16:06 LEGO Star Wars II Secret Plans intro
1:14 to 2:16 is from LEGO Star Wars, aw the memories

Absolutly ! Good old memories ... I hope they'll launch the old Star Wars game on PS4 and Xbox ..
Right???

This is just ever so slightly off that it feels weird...
14:41 Episode 1 - A wind to shake the stars
It seems like they combined bits of each track to make the one we all know.
Not gonna lie the beginning at 5:05 sounds pretty cool.
this is so my favorite movie of all time 😊😊
5:05 this is my favourite version, though yes it does sound kinda not together, you get to hear ALL the instruments..
Yes I never heard the woodwind runs so clearly. But perhaps for the meaning of the whole they should be more in the background
I noticed that each take for the opening crawl sounds less and less triumphant, with Take 16 being the most triumphant out of all of them. I'd even put it in the movie.
I love how the guy saying "take 16" "17" "18" etcetera sounds increasingly annoyed.
Good old take 19.
Something about that last take hit me good.

P C Creating a sense of unity is “one tricking”? It’s the leitmotif style.
Even Bach recycled his cantatas and shit back in his day.

Take 20 is interesting
The opening part reminded me of "love across the stars"
5:04 - Alternate takes of the theme.
0:22 - 1:00 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
0:35 it sounds like the force awaken's theme isn't it ?
I remember the first part from Lego Star Wars the Video Game, because it played at The Invisible Hand (General Grevious' ship)
From 2:17 to 5:07 (estimated), I could hear no sound. Then it starts over with the Star Wars Fanfare (Main Title?).
7:26 take 17, sounds like there's more trumpets.

That doesn't sound like Williams' voice but that's probably the audio engineer. Williams personally conducted the orchestra from what I remember.
The track at the beginning was Williams' first version for the binary sunset scene. Then Lucas said the force theme was needed at that point and Williams composed the famous version. The emotional content is completely different...
the second part with the main theme is the exact same with just a little too much woodwinds in there
and timpani
Bianca Blaney It’s treason then!
too much tubas, too little drums, too much contrabass and cellos, and the good ol harp and glock
Anyone else think that this was false advertising on this disc?
lol
How is that bad
5:05 | 6:43
797ation Honestly, that's my favorite take out of all of them. I kinda wish it was used in the actual movie's opening scene.
Urhhhumm ...... 18 😄
All about Take 19!
I get some Rey's theme vibes from the alternate take.
C-M You're onto it
Jedi Outcast anybody?
yeah i remember this game

1:09 Sounding like Legend of Zelda over here
Major Majoras Mask vibes
5:05 - The start of various takes of the theme.
This sounds like something from Raiders of the Lost Ark
Why are there 1400 minutes of silence after the song stops?
+TheSOB88 all the take of star wars main theme was actually a hidden content in the original cassette
Robo4900 I appreciate you.
This plays when Luke dies of sun radiation.
I assume Track 18 is the "real" one
Take 18, 19 and 20 were all used and spliced together
I think it’s 18 with 19’s beginning and 20’s ending

this sounds more like harry potter
the other way around since this was more than 20 years before harry potter and its both john williams
The hell was take 20??? Must have told a few people to lay off or lay out at the beginning.
Also felt extra slow. Maybe they wanted a take without the horns because they kept getting off beat during the opening fanfare?
@@schlockading Nah the horns are there if you listen closely. They were probably just experimenting with letting the trombones and the triangle opening up instead of a block chord as heard in the previous takes
You really ought to title these videos better.
Lawrence of Arabia...on Tattooine, except with Luke and not T. E. Lawrence.
