WINTER WHEAT IS SAFELY IN THE PIT | WHOLECROP 2022

- In todays video we get out wholecrop cut and into the pit. Father Phil is on the Claas Jaguar 890 with the mill in and wholecrop head. I'm on the pit, with a little help from uncle Ian while i put on mowers. Liv and Bro are on the draw. The fields we're wholecropping this year are right beside the yard which makes for a very short draw!
Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching! G'Luck

Very true 👍
No farmers
No food
No Future.
Thanks for the update phil🤩👍
Absolutely grand to see yer uncle Ian back out, reminds me a lot of my grandad, absolutely unstoppable. The amount of whole crop you've got with how little fertilizer is a testament to how much you've put into the land over the years.
Just come home after a busy day we so will be setting down with our favourite farmers. He tells it what farming is really like hard work 😓.Best regards to Farmer Phil and all..GodBless and Good luck.Love Ireland 🇮🇪. Ireland 🇮🇪 🇮🇪🇮🇪🐝🐝🐝
Phil show farming warts and all. Great to see uncle Ian back in hot seat
Fair play to your Uncle. He took great pride outa that. Your aul lad is a great man and not afraid to try new things, not everyone is like that
Another great video Phil nice to see your uncle lan on the pit 👍👍🇬🇧🏴
brilliant video Phil, the sky looked very threatening⛈️
Fine crop there Phil
Great video Phil a great looking crop serious grain in it good to see uncle Ian working away
You have to love the them video's 🌾🌾🌾🌾
Another great video Phil!, I knew nothing about whole crop until this. What a lovely video to watch of a Sunday evening, the drone shots were wonderful......I might as well have been there. 👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
Class video on winter wheat lad
i think that weed you were unsure about might have been wild mustard after i looked a the seed pods
Thanks for making this week a little more entertaining !
Very good video Phil
Great too see ye all working together Phil brilliant video massive crop that was brilliant use of less fertilizer getting the job done 👍
Mighty work lads 👍
You should put the 3690, 2725 and 3075 on a couple of trailers for second cut
Great job
Great video...ye should sow a few acres next year & harvest it all vintage style
Way to go guys. Great crop. 👍
The pit is looking well Phil. Hopefully things work out and yous have more than plenty for wintering the cattle.
Keep her lit lad 👍🏻
Mighty job
Great videos keep it up 👍
Great video the boss is happy out😋
Another super video we are always waiting patiently for your videos
Great video as usual Phil 👌👌
Good vid lad
One of my favourite jobs is buckraking wholecrop I find it almost levels itself but lot harder to roll in its like a big sponge
I'm Irish 2 loved the video
good video
Great vid Phil and gang as always great to see uncle Ian back on the loader and combine the other day can't beat the 🐖 slurry and I didn't go to college 🤣🤣🤣👍👍
Great crop of feed Phil, hopefully the big boys pay ye back when the time comes.
I love Father Phil last comment, he's a right boyo 😂😂
Looking forward to seeing 2nd cut go in on top now. 🖒
The 6480 is looking so sorry for itself needs doing.. cracking tractors
That would be a some fleet
I think that we are sold a pup with fertilisers and going back to the old ways has a part to play. Well done. I am not a Farmer but was a small holder growing veg for market and found seaweed, compost and well rotted muck improve the soil and worms etc. Result better crops, more flavour and less limpy ones a good wind will blow over. I know that mixing seaweed or nettles in a barrel to with water is not to be scaled up to your family farm easy but it left to rot makes a fertile soil non of the expensive multi national company products can compete with.
I recently got some merch from you for my birthdsy a hat a t shirt and some pens thsnks it is great
Pthis might be hard csn you give me a shout out
Would you consider a pre-cast concrete wall on the back of your pit Phil?
Yes!!
Interesting
You might want to invest in heavy rollers on the bigger Massey for pit rolling, Tom Pemberton has a guy doing it and helps compact the silage great
Wouldnt be much use on the wholecrop, the straw would get stuck between the rings!
Hey loving the video. Where do you get pig slurry?
Great video guys!! Love the review once had it all there!! Is it fair to say there will be a feed/rashin crisis this winter…….?? And unless farmers have massive pits/fodder in their feed bills will be through the roof??
phil we have an old massey 70 drum mower is it the same as a pz mower as i need a few parts?
Great video very interesting
Just would ye not use a second pit for the whole crop beside putting second crop silage on top of it
Or even put a third pit in for the second cut silage
Great to see uncle Ian out again working
Need to get the loader tractor going again Phil
Would combine head be better so you can adjust reel or what is reason it can’t be adjusted on whole crop head
I think it’s to do with the limited hydraulic services on the harvester for a header
Is there any news on the 6480?
did ya see the roller tom pemberton uses? made out of train wheels!
Surely that should have been cut 2-weeks ago 10 days ago as the grain looks far too hard? What's the crack with the chop length as well? Seems very varied in length.... Looks like you've used a wagon not an SP! 🤣
Great to see your uncle out .
Great video. Why not pull a trailer behind the harvester to open the field?
it would just be a bit harder
are you going to the fleadh
When you see the crop you have, does it make you wonder if the fert was always needed or is it just a one off season without it, including weather in that mix
Hard to know
Phil I'm sure you have mentioned but I can't find it. What is wrong with the Massey loader tractor parked at the front of the silage clamp??
Injector pump fell off
Would the grain not fall to the bottom of the pit when you push it up ?
A % of it will but not it all
Might be a stupid question but if any could help lol.,is whole crop just wheat cut early or is this mixed with another crop?
Wholecrop is a cereal crop cut before ripe with a forage harvester
Thanks Phil appreciate it bud 👍
Do you pay for pig slurry or are you getting it for paper acres?
Ok
Why is it not cut green with
Grains at milky stage ?
There’s more feeding in it at this stage but a mill is needed to break the grain where as at the milky stage a mill isn’t needed
Phil put down lots of rat bait that will stop the rats
He has dogs running around the yard not worth the chance
🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜😎😎😎😎👍
The contractors i work for have a new holland fx60 2006 chopper class liner 780 jd 6400 class tralled mower with jd front mower on a 6910 cart 6520 jd 6610 jd and 6330 and 6530 i buckrak on a jd6630 we also own a jd 678 combi baler amd 3 two gallon major slurray tanks a side discare major muck spreader kuhn 4 bottom plow a 3 meter leky one pass seeder a kuhn cultvator and discos a amzone fert spreader and sprayer i run a farm of my own i have mf 6280 what do you think
thats not a bad pit of holecrop considering yous cut back on fertaliser but its nearly too ripe for me I like the ripest and driest at the bottom and the greenest and dampest at the top then put slightly wet silage one top of the pit and make it a foot to two feet deep and cover every single grain with silage and then cover the pit (also I think you should get a kane halfpipe with the new hydrolick back door)
I could not hear the pops
I was eating rice crispys ( how ever you spell it)
Video 👍, fack 🇪🇺.
Put down plenty of poison around the pit
