@ottobock I'm getting the X3 knee pretty soon and it will change my life for sure. I had an accident at work, and at ER wasn't treated properly so in order to save my life they had to amputate. now life is different, but I'm alive and so excited to have this knee. thank you

Everything is very expensive these days. Doesn't mean people must dislike. Technology improves very fast and we should be happy. I understand is hard to get and it's not fair of overpriced, but you can get cheaper versions.
I’ve got this leg, I’m a left leg above knee amputee I’ve had this leg around a year now and still can’t walk up stairs like that man swim or run it’s crazy because I was so excited like you guys commenting, I’m not saying it’s rubbish because I can’t do more than I could on a national health service prosthesis, I’m just saying it really must take a lot of work and years to use it like the man in this video.
Ash Ley it takes a LOT of hard work and conditioning. It also takes tremendous trust in the prosthesis and that’s pretty hard for us to develop. Key components are a really well fitted socket (if your team ever says anything along the lines of “being an amputee hurts and you just need to get used to it” run far and fast!! A proper socket never hurts!!), lots of quality gait training from someone who genuinely knows what they are talking about, quality alignment by someone who not only knows what they are doing but also LISTENS to the amputee (we are, after all, the ones using this and trying to make it all come together) and lots and lots of practice from us. Ottobock has some great videos and an app for conditioning, strengthening and balance exercises. If you can make yourself do them two to three times a day, along with lots of walking and treadmill running it will not only greatly improve your gait and quality of walking but it will also set you up for success with running, hiking and anything else you want to do. The X3 is amazing and well worth it but I wouldn’t suggest you bothering swimming with it unless you’re at the lake. When at the swimming pool use it for walking around to make your life easier but take it off for actual swimming. It’s heavy and just makes swimming more work. Once you learn to swim without the leg you’ll have better endurance and be much happier. I’m a right leg AKA and have had a regular Genium for six years. I’m just now on the X3 and it really is a fantastic piece of equipment, even the new Genium has massively improved compared to the 2012 model. Amazing equipment Ottobock... now if you could just bring your feet up to the level of Ossür... wow! Sorry but the Ottobock feet are like clunky bricks compared to the Ossür feet. I will admit the new Trition Side Flex LP is really nice but still... work to be done.
How old are you and are you heavily built??? I don’t understand Y you haven’t been able to adapt??!! I’m using a simple mechanical joint…. OTTOBOCK EBS 3r60 and I’m pretty active at 52(male) of course my joint doesn’t do all that yours is supposed to but I can’t imagine your plight! You should have been up and about and doing everything possible

Just another quick note. Since I was age 9 swimming had been my most favorite sport. Should have been in the Olympics 😁... seeing this, I know one way or another. I WILL SWIM AGAIN!

It would be terrific, exceptional even, if prosthetics advertisers/manufacturers would show their products being used by extreme cases, such as hip disarticulates, extremely short residual limb… sure, we need coverage for folks who just had their knee joint disarticulated, i.e., longest femur possible. It’s great we see that this guy, who lost leg parts from the patella down, can run! I mean, that’s really awesome. But as a person with a very short residual limb, running was out of the question even during my strongest, most physically robust years. It would be nice to see how short-limb amputees use the Genium.
Ottobock, I woul like to know how much or how many years Did it take to get that good on the leg? I will have one on order in the next two months. Is it a just learn as you go or should I Expect to be doing some expensive training?

What type of socket does he use? Is it a suction socket or a silicone liner? I ask because when you enter the water, it seems that water infiltrates the socket, leading to a compromised suspension. I've experienced a similar issue with my suction socket during vigorous activity and sweating

Waaaaw this looks beautiful thanks to you ottobock and it would have been better if I had one of these legs, just so you know i have lost my left leg in 1998 and i was 4 years old baby boy.
You could ask your prosthetist to request that your insurance company consider it, but most insurance companies will try to get out as cheap as possible, it took me 6 years of fighting with my insurance company before I was finally able to be approved for it, it helps if you have a good prosthetist who is willing to fight to help you, mine was instrumental in getting this knee for me.

Waaaaw this looks beautiful thanks to you ottobock and it would have been better if I had one of these legs, just so you know i have lost my left leg in 1998 and i was 4 years old baby boy.
You could ask your prosthetist to request that your insurance company consider it, but most insurance companies will try to get out as cheap as possible, it took me 6 years of fighting with my insurance company before I was finally able to be approved for it, it helps if you have a good prosthetist who is willing to fight to help you, mine was instrumental in getting this knee for me.
@Heightened Senses thank you for the response, I wasn't able to get one of these but right away they got me on an c-leg4 and 5 years with it I'm loving it.
