Everyone needs a friend like you in times like those. I used to go to a church where we had a cooking ministry like that. We would sign up to take turns bringing food if someone was sick or just had a newborn, etc. I did that a couple of times because I love to cook.
is this something that a non church member could do? i have plenty of churches in my area and way too much food. i was making food and bringing it to the homeless shelter near me a few times a month but they requested everyone stop due to the stuff going on with mPOX

I remember one of my partner’s friend’s bringing over split pea soup and vegan sushi for me 2 days after i had given birth. That was one of the most vulnerable moments of my life and her small gesture made me feel a million times better in that moment. I will always have nothing but gratitude and well wishes for Sam❣️

More people should do this for one another. I had my only child in my 40's, and no one helped my husband and I after he was born. In my early 20's, I had bought SO many people expensive baby shower gifts, but I only wanted a very small baby shower with my very best friends. Gestures like this are what families need. We all need to emulate other cultures by taking care of each other, especially the old and young!
I grew up in a cult, and while that comes with a lot of baggage, care for new moms and widows was huge. All the women would organize meals and take turns cooking for a month or more after a death or new baby. It’s good being out of that community, but there are definitely parts that I miss. I seriously considered going back in after my firstborn.

I'm half Persian(well my dad's mom was born in Baku so she was Azerbaijani but moved to Tehran as a kid so I guess but still) and half American(my late mom was American but her ancestry was a mix of German Scottish Irish Norwegian and Scandinavian) and I grew up eating my dad's Persian food and having lots of Persian friends and big Persian parties and get togethers every weekend from the early 80's to the late 90's..I miss it so much.. The awesome Persian food, the persian party dance music, the dancing and laughter, the scent of fresh Persian food and desserts, playing with my Persian friends.. Such simpler better times.. The sounds of Haydeh or shahram solati or shahram shahpadeh and lots of other Persian music always playing at the houses or parks or in our car or at home.. I can speak farsi but don't have anymore persian friends.. This video brought tears to my sad eyes.. I miss my mom and dad so much... Now I have a five year old daughter and I truly pray to teach her all about Persian culture as she grows up.. She already loves Persian music and food and language... Thank you sincerely for this video..as someone born and raised in the deep south of the USA, being around persian culture was such a great treat and a relief, whenever I could get to it..
Its great that your maintaining your persian culture and passing it onto your child. Maybe contact the persians your family used to hang out with. And try and meet up with them.

It's such a blessing to be that friend. I once cooked and delivered a family dinner every for a few weeks to a sisterfriend who was having some health issues. They were so appreciative!
My man is Afghan and I’ve had the pleasure of of enjoying delicious Afghan food for almost 4 years. His family are gold! We are all very close and I’m so glad to have them in my life. I really love the kabobs they are so yummy! 😊 it’s really satisfying whenever I have lamb and rice with the salad. It’s perfect. And of course that yogurt so yum.
Now this is what genuine friends do look out for one another 😔 I’ve been there for so many people including family but yet I was alone when I had surgery thank God I had my boys younger at the time but they did their best 🙏🏾🙏🏾 that’s when I started on my cutting off list

This is something we do quite often in the Muslim community, I have 7 kids and sisters have always put together a meal train and cooked for me. I’ve also cooked for some of my sisters after having their babies, Alhamdulillah!
The takeout containers are such a good call because as a new mom you don’t have to stress over returning dishes when you may not remember whose they are. This is also kind and considerate!
What an amazing friend! I’m so grateful my grandmother taught me gestures such as this. She always provided a home cooked meal whenever someone she knew welcomed a baby or lost a loved one. It seems doing such things isn’t very common these days, so it’s very nice to see this video 😊

Postpartum is so tough and everyone focuses on the baby and the mom gets forgotten about, but she needs more than the baby haha especially if she's nursing...i would eat 5 meals a day for the first 3 months at least. It's just so caloric intense and recovering from pregnancy is no joke. Thank you for being a good friend!
