Love the rainbows! A matching set would look so cute!! For the Christmas fabric, make a jumper but just the front and back of a raglan maybe and get a colour to match for the sleeves! It would look really cute ❤❤❤
Your lovely pastel check fabric your thinking of making into pj's. I thought it might make a lovely shirred top with strappy ties you could even lengthen it if you like a dress made out of it. Look forward to seeing your make out of the fabric.
Hi Angela. I’ve made the ultimate shift dress quite a few times and tops from it but just a word of caution. It is drafted for very narrow shoulders and I found it very difficult to move in the sleeved one and so did my goddaughter. Therefore most of mine are sleeveless, it’s nice with a shoulder frill. I have a lot on my feed @ruthiesews from way back. It’s the first indie pattern I made when I returned to sewing and I was surprised at the fitting issues. It is a really nice style once you’ve mastered that. I think I increased the bust and shoulder area to a bigger size. Hope that’s helpful. Great plans and you’ve got me interested in that jumpsuit. 😊
The red trousers look great-look forward to seeing you wearing them. Your rainbow fabric will make great pjs & am sure you could get the Donny out of that, even if you have to adapt it slightly. I’ve just had a few days in Surrey with stepson & his partner. My hubby is still there making a patio & I’m back home in Warwickshire with the dog. I didn’t take my sewing machine but did cut out several things - another Safia trousers + McCall’s M7120 top (toile as adapting it slightly) + Butterick B6056 (B) top. Hoping I can have a mega sort out while my hubby is away + get some sewing done. Love your videos Angela.❤
Aaahh sounds like you got some great projects cut out. It’s so great to have a few projects cut out at once ready to go isn’t it. Happy sewing- and thank you so much 🥰❤️
@@DevonThreadTales have fun, it’s a very good transitional piece. It’s also v comfortable to wear and the medium uses only 1 m! I am also thinking of a short sleeved version, a bit like the grainline top. 😍
Well done you, firstly not cutting into your pattern and making a copy and then updating your sewing book 👏 you will inspire so many to do the same and make a toil which I think takes out a lot of disappointment if something goes wrong. Secondly I love the Donny shirt, please do try it and let us know what you think. You make me laugh re buttonholes, there is something about them that your machine doesn’t like 😂 and lastly I was one of those that hoped you made Christmas outfits for your family so loved seeing your Christmas fabric, nice leggings or pj bottoms perhaps. I think the lace would make nice sleeves to a dress for Christmas, just saying 😊. I am making the Ashton top, Helen’s Closet, with sleeves, I love it, not your style I don’t think but I’m using a Higgs Higgs fabric with embroidery at the hem on the front in lightweight demin, it looks great. I am already planning a third my second one without sleeves. Happy sewing ❤ X
Aahh thank you so much for your lovely comments 🥰❤️ I’m so hoping I can keep the boys book up as I can see how helpful it is going to be. I know - button holes - aaahhhh!! 😂 Your top sounds like it’s going to be gorgeous- happy sewing 🧵 Thank you 🥰❤️
Buttonholes on waistbands or shirt collar stands- definitely my nemesis!!! The buttonhole foot does not cope with the different levels of fabric in a small space and I do not know what the answer is as the hump jump doesn’t work😮. So frustrating. Glad you have had a productive week. I do love my “makes” books - so useful and have just started a new book so I can collate all the tips and measurements currently on scraps all over the place 😂😂. I really fancy the High Cuff sweater and the new Nina Lee Holland Park dress and cannot wait to see your makes. Donny as a PJ top will definitely work- it is so comfy. Lovely fabric. The fabric swap sounds wonderful - I watched Helen talk about it. 😊. Happy cutting out. Lynne
Ingenious waist fastener for your trousers! My buttonholer is temperamental too. On a dress recently- test ones were fine, first 3 on the dress were fine but the last one was a disaster. So annoying! 🥴 Lovely rainbow fabric. Will look great whatever you make I’m sure. Enjoy your sewing week. 😀
I'm always taking measurements and writing them down on random bits of paper, then misplacing it, so yes to how you store things like that. Pjs from the checked fabric will be cute, but for me, it would be a shirt, it's just so colourful. I want to make 3 shirts in the next couple of week. I'm going to a theatre, an art show, and a friends' picnic lunch and plan to wear my white jeans to all. I have one shirt cut out, let's not talk about how long ago i cut it out. For the picnic, one of my friend's gifted me fabric of my choice from her mother's extensive fabric stash. I chose a fun Hawaiian print covered with pictures of Elvis. I think it will make my friend quite happy to see how I used the fabric. Not quite sure which fabric and pattern to use for shirt #3. I think beach slacks from the black lace, maybe lined with a thin black cotton? A fabric and pattern swap sounds fun.
Just a thought, for the Christmas fabric you could make a pair of bottoms adding a wide-ish yoga waistband. This way you wouldn’t lose any fabric to an elastic turn over.
The Tammy Handmade Naya T-shirt would be perfect has a pj top. It is made for wovens and uses 1 meter or less. I always print line drawings of all my patterns to keep in a notebook of patterns and I glue one on pattern cards I have for each pattern once I have made it with other sewing information for next time.
Ooh - I'm so glad you posted about the rainbow gingham fabric. I have been eyeing that up online but it seems to be sold out everywhere, so after watching your video I popped up to Hobbycraft et voilà - a brand new bolt of it! Picked up 3 1/2:metres to make a dress for my daughter 😊
Great vlog Angela. I’ve made the high cuff top. Love the look and fit but can’t wear it. The main fabric was from sew Hayley Jane subscription and it’s a satin poly… I heat up like a trussed chicken in the oven! So I need to make another one. I might even unpick the ribbing from the first one as it’s such a lovely colour and really nice quality. Poly can put the kettle on but I won’t be planning on wrapping her round me any time soon 😂😂
😂😂😂 oh I flippin love this comment - you have made me chuckle. Good old Poly- she can stay in the cupboard!!! Aaah so sorry that your first one isn’t wearable for those reasons, I really don’t enjoy wearing polyester for the exact same reason!!! Thank you so much for cheering my Sunday morning up 😂🥰❤️
I always make the Etty camisole and peppermint loungeware shorts for my pyjamas sets but the Donny would work if you prefer a bit more cover on your shoulders 😊
My pj top of choice is the Donny, lengthened as it is super cropped out of the packet . Fun Christmas fabric, maybe you could make Hudson pants with red Jersey for the waistbands and cuffs
Lovely makes and plans. I’d make shorts and Donny from the crafty pie fabric. Donny is quite short but probably fine to lengthen from 1m and it’s quite loose fitting. I made the New Look strappy jumpsuit you wore in one of your July videos which is lovely- in fact my daughter loved it so much that I gave it to her and I’ve just cut out another one for myself. I also fancy the one you mentioned today … I always make notes when making things and note down tips from videos. I too fancy the high cuff top …
I looked at a few sewing planners but none had what I wanted/thought I would use. Last year and this year I have been tracking my makes. Similarly I like to document what I have made rather than the planning.
Donny shirt would be a perfect pj top, just maybe want to add a bit of length, but it is a beautiful make. With your Christmas pj idea, you could cut as long as you can, then add a cuff, or use bias binding to hem them.
Hi 👋, it occurred to me that you could make a toile of the woven jumper pattern but with short sleeves for your PJ’s set. You could even do it in white cotton and just have matching sleeves to your shorts. I am also falling in love with jumpsuits… and I’m planning my first pair of dungarees. X
Your xmas fabric is adorable. Last xmas, I made Christmas themed t-shirts for the men in my family, little tops for the girls and an a-line dress for myself - all matching in the same jersey! It made a cute picture. Anyway,... you can always make the pants shorter, then add a little ruffle or flounce to add length to them. Or add some white faux fur to the bottom!
Thankyou so much for your video. Very timely, saved me from watching some documentary on race horses 😅. Love your bubbly style and enthusiasm, keep up the good work and look forward to the next update x
