In today’s episode of Figuring Out, we have Siddharth Maheshwari in conversation with Raj Shamani. He is the co-founder of Newton School which is an ed-tech platform that is building a futuristic online university. Their goal is to help the youth of India get their dream job or create their dream career.
In this episode, we talked about how the salary of freshers has increased in the last few years, why 80% of engineers are unemployed, and the difference between jobs a few years back and today. We also talked about what is the alternative to earning a high income if you don’t get into a good college, 5 skills everyone should learn that are valuable even after the next 5 years, and who should be your target audience to build a profitable business. He also shared the top 3 things everyone should focus on to go ahead in their job or career.
We talked about what a beginner should learn to earn 6-figures in coding, how companies like Apple and Google hire employees, and without a degree how can people make a career in coding. I have one uncle who graduated, postgraduated and got phd from iit delhi.. After serving almost 25-26 years in samsung.. He is an professor in iit delhi now.... He actually inspires young minds and make them capable of facing today's world..
I have visited Nalanda University more than 5 times so far and whenever I just keep looking and touch its wall, I think that this was India.

Some things that are not mentioned
1. You have to aptitude to code to get to the level being mentioned here (not everyone can do it)
2. You have to have stamina to struggle (many don't as they have to work now to support their family)
3. You are competing with thousands of younger folks every year (don't kid yourself youth have an advantage doing leetcode style questions)
4. You are now competing against AI (this is the unknown - this will kill lots of the basic jobs that people are getting paid quite a bit now)
I never do bad feedback or leave half way, but it was WORST podcast’s guest - he has basically no such in-depth knowledge as hoped for, he’s just uttering the same thing even a kid knows now
This was the Worst guest ever, he was just yapping shit left and right. He had no real knowledge, raj was struggling hard to get answers. L guest
Why nobody talks about Medical fields, paramedical fields?! I mean there's so much to talk about. I'm a paramedical student & I find it so hard to find content. I mean it's not that there isn't any. But I want somebody like raj bhaiya to deliver it, cause the counter questions he asks gives more clearity.

It was a great podcast but i would request you to invite a similar guest having a background in finance or for commerce students coz , the guest in this one spoke more about what a student of science background should do ? What about the other students even they pay hefty fees for colleges .
For instance there are dozens of people pursuing CA/CS /CMA and other finance related courses but not yielding a great salary package, an MBA grad on an average is landing on higher paying jobs and bagging top CXO positions.
In this regard i would like you to make a podcast ✨. Thank you for creating this channel coz it's a real gem for me .

We are in 2nd year of college but the professors are not talking about exploration and innovation ...they are only talking about the facts around the books ...no practical things are happened...the whole situation is totally devastating and frustrating...there is no fun at all and we get no chance to explore ...just mug up the rules thories and get the number only. We cannot handle this much pressure of this education system. Whole confidence breaks down.
I am a mom and did my college from India so I can relate to it. I have been living in US for the past 20 years. My daughter is about to finish her undergraduate degree here and I see whatever she is learning here is very hands-on experience and will be used in real life after college. Also, they include latest stuff too and just not follow only the old books.
You really can’t predict whether the big tech companies and institutes accept universities like these. There is a lot of politics involved and can’t predict if they are in for the long game or a money grab. Legacy plays a huge role in universities. Let’s see how newton school and scalar adapt and whether they can weather the storm

Tier 2 and Tier 3 students from the OPEN category have to pay 1 lakh every year just for the sake of pursuing engineering, and they often find no job opportunities after completing their degree.

One point raised here is, find problems and solve them.
Although I agree with this, but very few people are willing to passionately find problems and solve them when the company belongs to someone else.
Out of these people, most get discouraged as they don't get the recognition even after contributing brilliantly. Upper management takes all the praises and rewards.

I feel the graduation and school helped me build the foundation, I didn't understand lot of things during the course but now I apply all my learnings in day to day job. So polytech education is good alternative but your foundation even though old school gets build in your university or under grad program

Raj bhai i have to options to get an admission in BTech there are to college which is repited college and best companies are there for placement and good faculty but fees is very high it will cost 14 lakh for 4 years and there is another option that college is not good and repeated faculty is average and placements also average but fees for 4 year is 6 lakh . And i have that much confidence that i can do better in both colleges what is your opinion plz tell mi .
