The Samba forsure shined better this year than some of the previous trendy "retro" sneakers. The nice thing about these is that the OG Sambas all consistently have some nice soft leather (Looking at you Nike for making Dunks Pleathery just to sell more units). Plus the majority of collabs on the Samba have been fantastic if you want something that isn't the regular white or black pairs.
I got these for Christmas/ my birthday which is 3 weeks after Christmas and I love them. They're sleek and actually comfortable shockingly flat but comfortable.
Sambas are retro Futsal (Indoor Soccer) shoes. If you go true to size with non narrow feet it will feel tight because the toe box it comes with. Toe box on the inside of the shoe is suppose to keep that nice and tug feeling when playing soccer. You need that tight snug on the feet and toe to shoot and pass a futsal ball. If you keep them loose then you are prone to blisters over time. Now because this shoe is meant as a fashion statement now then you can go true to size but these aren't comfy wear them all day shoes. You can also go half a size up with more room on the toe.
Samba vs gazelle indoor Which is best for just daily wear(not any sports) How long can a pair of these last if I take care of them ? Or can I just buy superstar instead?
These are indoor soccer shoes by heart. So they are suppose to feel tight especially with that toe box when you play futsal (Indoor Soccer) you def don’t want a loose shoe in the toe area and get prone to blisters.
If you want nicer leather try finding a pair of "Decon Sambas". Just beware those are deconstructed all around, so they're basically leather slippers. Gazelle Indoors do have a slightly bigger outsole if you don't like how low to the ground Sambas are.
As the sambas hurt the backs of my heels, i opted for the Spezial. I love them so comfortable and versatile. I grew up in the 80s and much prefer this style of trainer to the huge chunky thick spongey sole ones nowadays. Old school is back. Roll on the good times 👍👍👍
Which do you prefer Samaba Classic's or OG? Maybe explore in a future Versus video? I collect both but personally, love my Samba Classics. Got my first pair in college for about $50, loved them ever since they're comfy, durable, stylish & go well with just about any thing. The padding is better on the Classics because they're meant for sports. In particular, the Pharrell Willams Human Race in Terra Cotta, were game changers for me in 2023, the best comfort I have ever felt in a Samba & the premium leather blew me away, they're an everyday go-to sneaker for me. Keep up the good work Marissa & Shade TV team, great visuals as usual, look 2 was fire!
Got my first pair back in 1998, in a black nubuck with white stripes and white outsole. Wish adidas would retro that color way and materials build. The closest thing Ive found to replace it was the adidas samba ADV (skateboard line akin to nike sb) which does have that beautiful crisp white outsole but uses a mixture of tumbled and suede for the upper. Still very nice but i long for the og all nubuck.
It is infact the greatest silhouette of all time. more than 35 million pairs sold worldwide since 1949.
Sambas for me was sneaker of the year. So many color ways, different materials, collaborations and styles.

For people looking for a 8th Street Kith Samba for $100 the Sambae is available. Though a lot of the colors have sold out.
