FWIW - Each Petco location holds their $1 per gallon sale at individual times. It's not a nationwide sale that's dictated by corporate. For instance, Petco A may not have the sale at the present time. However Petco B across town may have the $1 per gallon sale. I really like petco tanks especially with their sales. I actually bought a 150 gallon tank right before they stopped doing the $1 per gallon on certain sized tanks. They told us they weren’t going to be doing it anymore for big tanks like that so I grabbed it right away. That’s the tank I have my fish in now.

I’m a dog trainer at Petco in South Carolina and getting a job at a pet store really started my fish obsession. I started out small with a 10 gallon and then a couple of months ago I upgraded to a 29 gallon during our $1 per gallon sale. Damn I’m so glad I discovered a passion. I’m taking it slow so I don’t get overwhelmed, but so far so good
I just set up an Aqueon 20 gallon long recently, and I had to return the tank twice because of damage I didn’t catch in the store (I know I didn’t do it myself). One had a small crack in the bottom glass, the other deep scratches and something sticky that I couldn’t remove behind one of the sticker labels. I realized why the tanks were getting damaged, the store was nesting 10, 20 tall, and 20 long inside one another and standing them on end to stock more tanks in a small area. No protection at all for the glass doing it that way. I’ve bought the Tetra 29 gal kits twice from Meijer and those tanks were immaculate when you take them out of the box from being wrapped and foam protected in a box.
My local Petco doesn't include 20 high, but do the 20 long. I was given a 20 gallon extra high, skinny in comparison to a 10G but 21 inches high I believe. Thinking about putting Convict fry into in, suppose to be selling two dozen Convict Juvies 1 1/2 inches long next week. Our first six convicts were donations from Petco, we paid $3 for six and got one breeding pair. We still have those six, may offer up the four males to the pet store looking to buy the two dozen juvies. Our convicts mouth a little but don't fight much, considering we have over 60 roughly right now the tank is over stocked, but over filtered so all seems well.
I just got I to saltwater and they said I needed 55 gallons for 1 clownfish and wouldn't let me get one I currently have a 12 gallon nano cube so I'm not impressed with my local store

That’s great information about the surrenders, never knew that. For some reason I prefer the top fin brand over the imagitarium brand. It’s pretty shallow but I’m pretty sure it’s because of presentation. Branding really can make a difference especially to a beginner like me. It also helps that petsmart puts their brand on sale a lot, whereas petco is more spaced out with their sales.
I volunteered myself to go to my Petco every day and make sure the tanks look good, there's usually a dead fish somewhere but usually not many, they put in new fish every day cuz they get bought fast.
I actually saw this sale today. Just randomly stopping at a Petco in Auburn, AL. I'm thinking about snatching a few 10 gallon tanks for now but desperately needing to make room in the garage to build our fish room! Taking it slow though. ☺ Thanks for posting this video!
I always go to Petco honestly have the exact same quality as fish at my Lps. I mean besides your more harder and rarer fish. And also all my fish specialised fish stores that are local are salt water
You are lucky to have larger tanks available at a good price, I'm desperate for a 100 gal + but nowhere around me seems to do over 40 gal unless you go custom made, but for those you have to travel a long way to pick up.. I'm in the northwest of the UK.
Your petco may be good, but mine is horrible. Stuck up people working. Not selling more than 5 fish at a time insisting I am stupid even though I have a fully tested, fully planted 29 gallon tank with heavy filtration. NOOOO More than 5 fish they don't insure them and try to treat me as I am not knowledgeable even though I told them this. Also one of them couldn't even identify the fish I wanted properly. So much for all that pandering. HOWEVER yes they do have good deals sometimes so I force myself back there.

I will never buy any aqueon tank over 75 gallons period bad experience with there 210 gallon returned and went with planet aquariums way better quality you pay for what you get anything under 75 gallons aqueon I had no issues
