    That tank in the background has to be one the most relaxing tank I have seen, even the fish look chilled out

    Good video, well explained. My current heater works fine but I really like the way the blue light stays illuminated so you will always know its actually still working. My one flicks on and off but I have found myself checking the thermometer because I just didnt notice it going orange on few occasion. Quite a simple but great idea. Thanks for the upload.

    Yeah, great idea. I bought a Fluval tank 15 yrs ago which came with a heater whereby the light was ON when the heater wasn't, and went OFF when it was heating! That also confirmed that it was working at a glance but the light was small and always seemed to end up under a suction clip where I couldn't see it! Just ordered one of these as this solution sounds so much better. A solution to a problem we didn't even know we had methinks!

    I think this is a great review, and you’re right, it would be good for someone like me who is new to the hobby. I don’t want to control everything with Bluetooth, I just want it to work properly and do its job. And I like the indicator light will let me know if it’s on and working or if I forgot to plug it back in. Nice video!

    I've got a checkered history with Fluval heaters. The one that came with my ROMA 125 (2018) failed on me well within warranty, as did its replacement.
    I'm using OASE now, which I'm happy with so far (touch wood).
    The auto-off switch seems really efficient and undoubtedly a good idea. I like the blue light idea too. I might give Fluval another chance in the future. 😊

    Another informative video Matt. I bought a T50 to replace a Fluval E50 that went faulty after four years good service. I liked my new T50 so much, I decided to buy another. This time a T200 to replace a Fluval E200. Just in case it went the same way as the E50 - the display stayed on, but the heater stopped working. I can report the new T-series works fine, and keeps my temperatures steady with only some fluctuation because of daytime and night-time ambient temps.

    Having a heater that turns itself off when out of water is an excellent idea. I have ruined a few heaters when changing water in the tank. The light being on is also a good idea. I shall have a look at these heaters. Thanks Matt.

    • @stoneysscapes7544
      @stoneysscapes7544 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a great reason to attach the heater horizontal as close to the substrate , then find a few rocks or driftwood that create a little bit of a protective pocket . I am so impressed with how much better the SICCE Shark Pro nternal filters work I think it is light year's ahead of OASE & FLUVAL !!!! Because of the magnetic connection you can leave it running while you're cleaning the filter compartments 💡 5 years warranty 💡 It has the best dial I've ever seen. To direct Flo @ the heater. I am pretty sure most of my tanks have a more consistent temp as well as that's eliminated breeding grounds for the bad bacteria and Fish Shop Matt has to sell these little filter that are expandable 💡💡💡

    That's a good idea from Fluval. I do have a heater by Aquael for about 20 quid that has a scale of its temp range on the side and a solid light for the set temp and a blinking light for the current tank temp which I like.

    I got the T150 and im definitely delighted with it. Its also cheaper on the electric to run the my Jager 150 was.
    The LED is great feature, and it was a much needed feature. its very spot in with very minimal temp flux. Ive it set to 24c and it flux between 23.9-24.1c
    Fluval thought this one through with being simple. I wouldn't go back to a heater without this LED feature.
    Great price point too. €27 delivered

    I thought you were going to say that the light staying on made a good nightlight for the fish. I read that fish may not do well in a tank that goes pitch black at night, so I have a separate small lamp in my fish room that goes on when the fish lights go off, so the wee fish can still see a bit. Anyway, great review!

    Mat, may I ask a question that's not related to heaters. Do you recommend putting aquarium matting under the aquarium? I've just bought a Fluval shaker 252 to replace a 200l tank that burst in my living room. The running theory on why this tanked popped was that the base wasn't true. I appreciate any advice.

    I'm surprised Fluval didn't program the LED like the E series where blue means the water is below the set temp, green is at temp and red is above. But nice little heater all the same. Will be picking one up for the Edge 46L. 👍

    Can I ask a dumb question? I got this heater today. It says not to put my hands in the water when it’s on. Does that mean only if it’s damaged or always?
    Also can fish get burned by the heater?

    I was just pricing them. My daughter is slowly talking into having a 200gal (750ish LTR) again with the idea that most checks on the fish and water will be done by her as my level of blindness is preventing me. We have not had a large tank for 10 years as I broke my last one in moving and she misses having it. I was trying to find any reliability info as I like the price and their clams. I have always used the AquaClear (First one in 1975 or 78) and most other Fluval equipment I have had has always lasted way past the warranty. I used to use Eheim heaters as I had a cash of greenies but after the years I am out and would need to buy some for a new setup. We are talking about it now but most importantly talking about planning for its future if I go totally blind.

    Hey Matt this really isn't video related but I'm planning on acquiring a giant betta fish and have a 25 gallon tank. My question being I would like either rasboras or tetras but if he's a giant would he feel overwhelmed by a school of say 8 harlequin rasbora or 10 cardinal tetras? I want to make the best environment for this guy and I've read about the giant betta being more docile then the contemporary in a community tank any feedback would be greatly appreciated, also loving the content and thank you.

    Fluval E series even better. Uses blue/green/red colours that blink when temperatures go 3 degrees up or down on what is set and actual temp in display. Easy to see if temp OK with a quick glance in passing,if it's green everything OK , if red or blue or blinking investigate. Had 2 E300 in 140 gallon tank for over 5 years with no problems . Also has a plastic cage around whole assembly, so no chance of any breakage.

    I got an aqua heater from maidenhead Sandown Isle of White. Brilliant. Fairly expensive but much better than the cheap one I had. Doesn't constantly turn on and off and shows the current temp. I wouldn't buy a fluval heater. They go pop

    • @FishShopMatt
      @FishShopMatt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The aqua range heaters are very good, I can't say I've had any issues with Fluval heaters going pop. But you do unfortunately sometimes get it in all brands.

      You seem to have been very unlucky, you get a 3 year warranty so Fluval will soon go out of business if a lot of people are as unlucky as you. 😉😉

    While I think this heater is ok, why on earth can they simply add a digital display telling you the temperature in addition to the number dial. Seems this hobby is all one step forward and two back. I look forward to the day when companies such as Fluval make a complete product

    • @FishShopMatt
      @FishShopMatt  ปีที่แล้ว

      They do one called the e series but it is a little bit more expensive and a bit more complicated than some people want.

    • @DrivingStandards101

      @Fish Shop Matt I use Boyo heaters that have a digital display, if my memory serves me correctly, they were under £20 each that was about 4yrs ago, and they're still going strong.

    The digital heaters from Fluval work with 3 lights. Blue = to cold, Blue blinking = way to cold, Green = in range, Red = to hot, Red blinking is way to hot.

    Yeah I don't like heaters or powerheads. Makes me think twice b4 reaching in the water bc the wires in the water and I'll never get used to it. I really like how the instructions to my cheap heater says to avoid electrocution unplug it b4 you touch water. Well I'm not dead yet but that's always in the back of my mind...
