HOW TO DO A BRITISH ACCENT CONVINCINGLY (2) FOR AMERICAN ACTORS (Acting Coach NYC)
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 29 ก.ย. 2024
- The 2nd of 3 short videos showing how American actors can do a British accent convincingly, from New York acting-coach, John Windsor-Cunningham. Here giving words with pauses for 'you' to repeat them. Dozens more free videos are on his website Windsor-Cunningham.com, and more due in 2024.
(One of the things which I teach when coaching people on their accents is to just watch my video VOCAL COACH - on my website or TH-cam, - which solves a problem which is PART of most accents.
I feel like it will be rude to switch off the lesson so I'm watching till the end.
The teacher dismisses you, not the alarm sound.

Update us on how the auditions went!
I am trying to be belle, good luck for the audition Wendy darling
It's worth noting this is "a" British accent. Some Brits pronounce "bath" as "barth", but the majority do not. This video is solely about Southern English accents, not Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Northern/Midland England.
Yes, you're right of course, but this is the accent which most American actors are asked to do for all the Shakespeare, Stoppard and Shaw plays (etc), and it makes it easier to learn a less usual dialect if asked to. I coach them, of course, but I can't cover them seriously here. Sorry if I caused a little offense! John.
Going to go watch Doctor Who after this 😂

Yes, I know what you mean. It's strange that we should 'like' feeling part of a country, and enjoy certain British phrases and sounds, - it's something to do with wanting to be part of a community, I suppose, and of course no accent matters nowadays, - even with American actors trying to do usually not-very-good British accents - what matters is that we speak clearly and with some kindness n our voice sometimes. So thanks for watching and hope you get some sleep! This madness will end eventually. John Windsor-Cunningham

Me, a British person learning how to use a British accent as an American actor: 👀
Wait what-
LMAO
Ha-ha, that is funny. But with jokes aside, is he really good at speaking with a British accent?
@@step7814 he is if you speak in the queen’s English. It really depends where you’re from in Britain - I live in England but I don’t speak like he does.
@@step7814 If you want to learn how to speak RP (recieved pronunciation) then yeah it's highly accurate, but only 2% of the population speaks like that. In Britain the accent and dialect changes for every 25 miles you travel - it has the biggest range of accents in the world.
me as a british person with a yorkshire accent:
hmmm interesting
