I am literally mind-blown about how I did not know that this lighting technique exists. I just realized that I haven't fully explored Photoshop so much despite knowing how to use it in the past four years. Everyday I learn something new about Photoshop haha. Thanks for this!
I woke up this morning and found your email with this tutorial. It was weird cuz the other day I was working on a pic and was thinking about this tool but I could not remember where it was. Then here is the tutorial. It was perfect. I hope you do the followup so I can learn more new stuff. Thanks so much for this.

Really interesting tutorial, thansk Colin! I'd never used this effect before, but I do use a lot of radial filters in LR for 'relighting' images. This gives so much more control - mindblowing stuff!
I haven't ever used this tool. I do a lot of photography but what I am most interested in is using this for my surrealist composite work. I would love to see how to create custom textures.
As a further editing technique, I tried this on a Duplicate Layer and adjusted the opacity of the copy layer to finesse the effect. Worked very well so thanks for reminding me about this great filter.
Thank you for your very detailed tuts. I can honestly say that you tuts were the first I used to follow way back when i started using Photoshop. I owe it to you. A big thanks.
Colin, I have been trying to figure out this tool for weeks. Your tutorial brought it to life. Thank you and I would love to see a texture tutorial....
