    Being a blacksmith and machinist myself, I know how many, many hours of work that probably went into this piece of art.
    It truly deserves to be called a piece of art cause that is exactly what you've made there. :)

    Anybody that spends this amount of time hand forming his dream gets my thumbs up. Nice to see folk getting away from two wheels in the back, as its so unstable in turns vs two wheels up front. I have a hand cycle that has the front drive wheel configuration and have rolled it a few times, while in turns at speed. Not that the single rear drive can't be rolled, as well, it is just far more stable under most conditions. I've got an electric assist version of the single rear drive trike I'm working on. Keep em' spinning.

      I kind of agree. When I finally build my own Imma give myself a more upright position.

    • @stevencochran4284
      @stevencochran4284 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Looks like there is room to drop the seat and have your torso lay across the body work for what might be a nice riding position ? Or at least better than that !

    • @4321eyeseeyou
      @4321eyeseeyou 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stevencochran4284 I would do that too, make it more aerodynamic and put a windscreen at the right angle, in a way it looks like the Sabre jet from the old days. I think he wanted the seating position to be just like a quads. Still, his metal craftmanship is great.

    • @scientifico

      Right, I thought so, too. The pegs could go lower since the bike doesn't lean, then the knees wouldn't be bent that much.

    Beautiful workmanship. I have two 1972 R75/5's, 500 serial numbers apart, one of which is being repainted and the aluminum redone to factory standards. Both have 80 K miles and still run very strong with no problems yet, except for new clutches, tires, batteries, and one starter and have always been my favorites in my stable of vintage bikes.
    And now, since seeing your build have figuered out what to do with the second bike.
    My Wife recently bought me a 2016 Harley FRLT three-wheel Motorcycle which I really like and enjoy but was looking into putting a side car on the second Beemer, but after getting the Harley having been working on a few sketches of how to create a BMW trike in the same manner but loved your presentation and am thinking I can incorporate that retro look into my design - Time will tell.
    In the meantime, Awesome Build. Ride Safe.

  • @black_jackledemon6298
    @black_jackledemon6298 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work. Aluminum is a unique metal to work with.
    By that I mean it has a learning curve that is an absolutely flustrating pain in the arse.
    I had to learn to love it. Currently the only machine and welding shop in the area that can turn out proper quality aluminium repairs and custom fabrications.
    Steel and even to some extent Stainless Steel there's a bit more competition. But branching out into less common alloys has been intresting and "paid the bills"
    Brilliantly done I'd say ....and all the more impressive from the limitations of a home shop no less !

    Looks fantastic! Great achievement that I admire. Driving position is kinda weird. The trike itself rows in into the "Great Prize O Tripoli" stuff Caracciola and the others drove. By the way, the BMW 507 is the most beautiful BMW car ever and Elvis had one of these. I had the BMW RT 100 and took away the plastic shells to make it look old. Was a very good bike and so relaxing with its "took-took" noise. In Germany they call it "Rubber Cow" for its speciality to lift the back when accelerating. Congratulstions!

    Not only has the bike got a lovely retro and period look you have to be congratulated for the skills you have displayed in metal beating, it's phenomenal. It seems a bit man spirited to find any fault with a thing of such beauty but if you could either lower the seat or raise the bars because you don't look as comfortable as you might like

  • @bmwkamal

    Outstanding work! Excellent craftsmanship!
    The riding position is ridiculous but for a show piece that doesn't matter. personally I would drop the seat down and the handlebars swept back not forward...
    I hope mine doesn't take another 7 years to build/finish lol but it's already been 13. I am still looking for another quad front suspension but all that I have found have brakes that are much too small for safe riding. Mine is based on a Suzuki GS850. I do not have the metal forming skill that this builder does but I'm working around that.

    Nice looking bike, but like many custom bikes looks very uncomfortable to ride. This bike would do very well with a tilting trike front mechanism. But as long as the builder is happy...that's all that counts. I applaud him for the task and learning how to work with aluminum. Thanks for sharing.

    You are an absolute artist my friend! Beautiful build! Love that you figured out prototype level metal shaping. Your metal shaping is what makes it so cool. I will say the bike catches my eye differently when there is no rider on it. When you are on it, it looks smaller. Still very cool. Maybe I was seeing something more roadster-esque without rider. I hate to be too critical, because I know what seven years worth of hours means. You deserve way more praise than criticism. Quads typically have a very up-right ride position. I wonder how you could achieve more of a roadster type human body positioning. Will likely require a slightly larger bike overall. Just chatting...

    Fantastic creation. Love it. Please put a fender over the back wheel. I have seen what a back wheel will do to a person when things go wrong and you land sitting onto a moving back wheel. It will rip your BUTT off and anything else that gets in the way.
