@@BorninaBarnBoutique I am trying very hard to find a certain color for these wood kitchen cabinets and then a quality one. I typed in how does amy compare to annie and how is it ranked among chalk paint for kitchen cabinets and that is what I got several times. She was no 1 and annie way down was exceptional for walls. like 5 or 6. this is out of 10. Jolie was no where on the list. I have bought all the varied brands and am going to try them out but leaning toward amy as its all in one and annie is not. Then the wax is extra protection for the cabinets. Annie herself said if its kitchen cabinets wait a month to apply wax a d give it a week between coats. That’s ideal and it won ‘t be cured for 3 months on any of it. Amy it sounds like is better that way and in durability. annie has never said wash and use for annie unless you reapply wax and be gentle. I have been watching vids for almost a year trying to get it right and learn. Picked up a lot of info and I have been painting my homes for 40 years but I am a bit of a perfectionist so want to do a good job. I just found your video’s a few weeks ago. I have been busy trying to learn from you. I wish you showed more of the end product before and after or I just, haven’t seen, those yet?? I hate brush marks and swirls and a lot of the vids for annie including hers are like that. I don’t like brush marks either. I really want to do a good job. I was disappointed you did not rave on amy Howard chalk paint. It is what it is. I am going to test it this week on a table. we shall see. Thanks for your help!!! what state are you in? I am in wash. state so it’s good time to paint right now, No rain!!!!!! r.
Great review. It really looks like a very smooth finish. I like the coverage, availability in local stores like Lowe’s and consistency. This has inspired me to try it. Thanks
I always love your reviews. However I wished you would Add onto your reviews the scratch Test for a quick durability review.....as Any paint Can Be Super easy to use and Have Amazing coverage blah blah blah....But Do They Hold up.....I'm sure most viewers would Want to Know this major part ...thank you for Always giving your honest opinion and These reviews are Always Helpful. ..just wished that one last request ....happy New year and here's to New flips🥰👍
I have heard around this video there was a new formula created and I wonder if you may have used the older formula as this is an older video. It would be fun to see a new video comparing the two. Who knows maybe you would love it now!
You do not have to seal. However when you wax the furniture with the sark wax or light wax or even her curusing wax it really finishes your piece and protects it
Thank you for that, I must have somehow missed that when I was looking! It does say it very clearly, but when I looked at the time of this video, I swear I couldn't find that information - so thanks! :)
In her videos attached to the products she shows how to use and often says the one step doesn't need to be sealed unless using in kitchen snd heavy use. But the milk paint she says yes it does need to be sealed either with wax or glaze.
A lot of Amy's information videos are all over the place and is quite a head banger and I thought at that price point you might as well just buy Annie Sloan. Thank you for the video it was quite good
Instructions - paint - paintbrush = a nice end result - adding my own “steps” sanding in between coats to make it looks it’s best is something that doesn’t change the result of the paint itself
So I have some great videos here on my channel painting. If that isn't enough I do teach virtually one on one and I have a painting membership group too. We also have a live class that can be purchased and watched back whenever for just $5 that will introduce to the furniture painting world
how would you describe this color of green paint? Are there any blue undertones or is it mostly cool green or warm green, sage-like? mostly grey? I can't tell from the video.
So there are so many paints to choose from and a lot of good ones. An easy one for a beginner is General Finishes Milk Paint - It is self leveling, self sealing and the consistency is nice and easy to work with. Its one of my top paints and one I recommend often! I hope that helps!
Hi thank you for watching - I wasn't a huge fan of this paint line so I probably won't be doing one on that! If there are other videos you would like to see let me know!
Alexandra Cole Hi, welcome! yes I have. There is a video here on my channel, sort through the library and you will find it. Annie was one of my first paints I ever used!
Maureen Young I love General Finishes Milk Paint - Fusion Mineral Paint and Wise Owl Paint - Chalk and their one Hour Enamel - I also have a discount code for wise Owl right now if u want it
It's time for me to re-stain my front door. It is a Therma Tru wood grain fiberglass door. I have used the Therma Tru stain but I like working with General Finishes Gel stain. Can the GF Gel stain be used on an exterior fiberglass door? Thank you!
Dave Morris so here’s the thing with GF Gel stains they are made to be applied to bare wood or can be applied over an existing finish. If you got the GF website they have videos showing this. I personally always sand down to bare wood, but you can dry brush over existing finishes. They have two videos on this technique.
There is no just paint and go paint, pieces should be prepped prior to painting to ensure good adhesion and long lasting results and if you want to finish sand in between that is a personal choice to buff it down, get rid of any brushstrokes and make it smooth as butter. It is an all in one paint however, sealing is optional as well, whether you want a different sheen or just added durability.
Yes it is a chalky finish paint but not exactly like a true chalk paint in that it doesn’t have to be sealed like true chalk paint - it has a built in sealer
today it’s voted number 1 so I bought some and am going to try it before I do kitchen cabinets. interested in what you find.
I am not sure who is voting it #1 today - interesting - this video was 4 years ago and not a paint in my regular rotation - hope you love it!

Yes there is a great idea for another video! Thank you 😀
the can says don’t sand between coats. Now I am conflicted! Just ordered another color to try.
You do not have to seal. However when you wax the furniture with the sark wax or light wax or even her curusing wax it really finishes your piece and protects it
Thank you for the information - I reviewed this quite a while ago and don’t use this paint but this is good for others to know - thanks for sharing
Amy Howard website actually does say that there is no need to seal your piece in her video tutorial.
Thank you for that, I must have somehow missed that when I was looking! It does say it very clearly, but when I looked at the time of this video, I swear I couldn't find that information - so thanks! :)
Even though they say not need to seal it. I can say it scratches and stains really easy if it’s not sealed. We’ll see how it does with the sealer
I think when it says no sand it means you do not need to sand initially. She always sands in between on her tutorials
I only wish you would have sanded one half and no sand to the other for comparison. Otherwise great review. I will be subscribing
In her videos attached to the products she shows how to use and often says the one step doesn't need to be sealed unless using in kitchen snd heavy use. But the milk paint she says yes it does need to be sealed either with wax or glaze.

is this self leveling like annie sloan?
Sure wish you had followed their instructions explicitly. It’s hard to know what the results would be since you added your own steps.
Instructions - paint - paintbrush = a nice end result - adding my own “steps” sanding in between coats to make it looks it’s best is something that doesn’t change the result of the paint itself
Thanks for the review!
Is there a time when you could just do one coat?
Possibly if you prime your price first or if your not looking for a solid covers, maybe more of a distressed shabby look
She mentioned no having to seal or sand or prime, very frequently on her website
I want to paint my table top black, would like information for that

It’s was kind of a blue green, like a duck egg blue color with green undertone. Not sage or grey, more blue
@@BorninaBarnBoutique thanks so much for your reply!!
I am thinking of painting my bedroom furniture. I am scared as I really haven't painted any furniture. What paint do you recommend?

Watch all the Amy Howard videos! Hundreds of them....
It’s paint and can be applied simply with a brush, their recommended way is just that a recommendation
I wish you would review her crackle finish.
Hi thank you for watching - I wasn't a huge fan of this paint line so I probably won't be doing one on that! If there are other videos you would like to see let me know!
What paint would you recommend?
My top favorites - General Finishes Acrylic Milk Paint, Fusion Mineral Paint, The Chippy Barn and Wise Owl
Have u ever reviewed Annie Sloan?? New to your channel!! Just wondering how they compare....
Alexandra Cole Hi, welcome! yes I have. There is a video here on my channel, sort through the library and you will find it. Annie was one of my first paints I ever used!
thank you!!
amazon is 39 that I just ordered in 2023
Yay! Great volume!
Thank you Dede!
How do you remove one step paint?
Anytime you are removing paint, you can use a paint stripper. I like Blue Bear soy based gel stripper
What paint brand do you recommend?
Maureen Young I love General Finishes Milk Paint - Fusion Mineral Paint and Wise Owl Paint - Chalk and their one Hour Enamel - I also have a discount code for wise Owl right now if u want it
Born in a Barn Boutique that
would be great.
Maureen Young www.wiseowlpaint.com/?aff=12 - discount code - borninabarn
Any but Ann Howard! Rustoleum works great, so does Annie Sloan.
@@chewar7537 you do not recommend Amy howard? May I ask why? I just bought some and ordered a new color. have not used yet. Oh Oh!
and on amazon

wet your board and your brush and it’s suppose to work like annie sloan except with hers you put water in the paint.
I have sand with a very fine sand paper
Mix!
It was mixed thoroughly - their instructions right on the label- SHAKE
Say not to sand, they love texture and an aged look, ....its on there videos about sealing....Google
no 54
ONE STEP PAINT….. means just that…..ONE STEP😳
