This is awesome! I love the electronic voice. I love old electronic. I'm surprised it is still working. That's great, its probably better than the systems we have today. Quality not plastic throw away in year materials.

We have a bunch of z1100 and z1100e systems still working out there. I just pulled one out for an upgrade. They keep on working but the keypad buttons wear out. I got to meet Wade Moose a few years ago and shake his hand. He’s still around.
The system does not include any internal siren driver. Most people just installed the MPI-11 driver but any driver, like this, could be used.

The Z1100 was the first residential alarm panel that used EE memory that could be reprogrammed over and over. Before it you had to burn EPROMs to program alarm panels.

It is in the main control panel. Likely in a bedroom closet or basement. It takes a key to open, if yours is gone you can acquire one fairly cheap on eBay, these are all keyed alike by brand.

@@80sappliances I used to install those panels. I bought the first one that was sold in New Orleans. I probably installed a couple hundred of them.

@@USA__2023 that’s awesome. That first reply I made was not meant for this thread, not sure how it got posted here. Are you familiar at all with the Ademco Vector/4152 at all? That’s the system I’m currently running, very interesting system and seems like it was the precursor/start of how the Vista series behaves.

@@80sappliances Yes, I worked on a few of the old vector systems, and the 4140xmpt2. Later I became a Beta test site for Ademco on their high end systems from the Vista-50 to the Vista-128bp. I also did Beta testing for the pinpoint devices and the 5800 wireless devices. A lot of the older vector pinpoint stuff was compatible vith the Vista series. I have a Vista-50P in my house that was part of the Beta testing I did.

I have a moose security system in my home, when I bought the house I found out the elderly lady that lived there before me came home and there was a intruder/robber & she didn't feel safe so she had this system put in with all the bells and whistles, literally lol.
There are sensors on all the windows, doors, smoke detectors, heat detectors, 7 motion detectors, the siren in the house saying exactly what yours said about the intruder to leave, the police has been called. You can turn off the motion detectors while your in the house or just turn off the ones you want off untill you go to bed. I think it's a great system and there are three control panels in the desired places but there is a small box about the size of a cigarette pack on the ceiling in most of the rooms but I don't have any idea what it is or does? The one in my bedroom is above me but over a couple feet but the little led light was bright so I put a piece of black electrical tape over it! I sleep fine and have not had any intruder thanks to God, but my house is protected mainly by my second amendment with a Glock 9mm and my 45 lol If you come in my home unwelcomed then you will definitely leave with a limp and chest pains and probably might as well bring a body bag if you break into my home. I would never shoot a person outside my home and I wouldn't shoot a man in the back!!! If you mean my family or me harm, then and only then I would shoot to kill!

One system I wish people would do videos of is the Silent Knight Regency system - kinda nostalgic about that one since my 'rents had a 4720 system - using the SK Regency 2615 keypad.
The sound of the siren that system has could, probably, still make me jump in my sleep. Hehe. (Not to mention how, for some reason, the siren in that particular system was hard on animals' ears. I remember my dog howling like crazy whenever the siren sounded, something that never happened when my parents switched to an Ademco system, and changed the siren to one that utilized the Napco MVA-1000 voice siren drivers.)

    • @80sappliances

The battery is located in the main panel which would likely be in a bedroom closet/basement. If you don’t have the key it can be purchased online fairly cheap along with a new battery.

Sorry for the late reply, I swapped this system out a while back for an Ademco Vector 2000 (1986), which is a precursor to the Vista series. 29 addressable points, definitely a trailblazer. I’ll show all the sensors, all the same as I had on the Z1100 system, (mostly) all period correct. Someday I’ll have to pull out the Z1100 and set up a little demonstration, along with a few other vintage security systems and an addressable Nutone intercom system I have.

I found this programming manual: www.thealarmstore.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Z1100-System-1-Program.pdf
On page 5 it states that there is a default installer code that you can enter and change the user codes. If you changed that installer code when you installed it though I am not sure. I think there is a way to completely reset it to factory settings and go from there.

That is described in the back section of the installation guide, where it covers the 'communicator'. You will also need to know what data transmission format the alarm company is expecting so you can configure it as well. Check out page 15.
