Darin was so immensely talented--incredible!! (If you only heard the audio you would never know it was an imitation of Durante--that's how spot on his vocal was!!)
Much though Darrin was too square for my tasts, I have to give it to you. Darrin shone here (possibly due to Durantes presence?) With natural laughter puring through rather than staged laughter, and YES! That Durante impression was a winner. With Mt being short sighted, and before the camera zoomed in, I just accepted it as Durante in overly trendy tight bottomed pegged pants more along to teddy boys than musical hall heroes.
Yeh, excellent episode of this show, and an exceptional performance from Darrin with Durante.
Darin's imitation is spot-on! And Durante's rendition of "Splish Splash" is priceless!
Jimmy Durante - priceless! Great entertainer and human being! Bobby Darin's impersonation at the start was amazing. Two of the greatest of all time.
Oh my gosh....I remember this on our old black & white TV! (3 channels....that was it!) Back in the days when most shows were live. So many good memories of home!
There will never be another Jimmy Durante.....ever!
This still gives me a thrill after all these years….. I remember watching this with my mother and younger brothers….. They were the days of fantastic shows and safer times in life….. Sadly no more….. Bobby's multi-talents still out shines singers of today by far…… Bobby Darin and Jimmy Durante at their best……

This is priceless watching the two of them playing off each other in this skit. Even Jimmy Durante was in ore of Bobby 'Drain's multi-talent and enjoyed working with him. The greats of the Hollywood show business world were in ore of Bobby and his total unique talents, knowing awesome talent when they saw it in front of them. Everyone who had a show on air wanted Bobby on their show, they got him. The most unique,versatile, multi-talented, singer, song writer, actor, producer, music publisher, impressionist, comedian, multi instrumentalist and more. Most of all, a great father to his son, Dodd who was the love of his life. "Dad taught me many life long lessons knowing full well his own life was running short and he needed to install wisdom in me before it was too late to do so", Dodd has said. Unique one of a kind human being the likes of the world will never see again. Bobby Darin rest in peace……… loved and remembered forever more.

+EDITH SYMMANS Bobby Darin died far too early. If he had lived, he would have been alongside Tony Bennett as joint Number One talents. As for Jimmy Durante, people still do impressions of him today.......another much-missed giant.
Sadly Jimmy suffered a stroke before his scheduled 2/10/1973 live Birthday appearance in Chicago. Patti Page filled in for him. ♣

Thank you, thank you, a great show, oh how I miss those days. Bobby Darin flirted with my girlfriend when he was doing a show in Detroit back in the 50s.
Outstanding! Two great talents.
He was also a great songwriter! He started his career as a song writer for Connie Francis! Bobby Darin wrote and co-wrote a bunch of his own hits like Splish Splash. A great multi talented entertainer who also had success in the movies! He left us way too soon in 1973.
Wow, a lot going on here, multitalented Bobby Darin. Darin was spot on with his impersonation in the opening, I actually thought is was Jimmy Durante and didn't realize it until Jimmy came out on stage. Durante was one of the Greatest among Vaudeville Performers, and Darin too was outstanding at vaudeville even though he came along years later, he performed vaudeville routines with some of the greats like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, George Burns, Dean Martin, and many others and was right up to parr with them. He was younger than them and sadly died before most of them.

Really enjoyed this! I was born in 61, but well remember these two.
Sadly, many folks today don't realize what fabulous talent used to exist. Darin was not only a singer, but an Academy Award nominated actor, producer, song writer, played multiple musical instruments, and did impressions of celebrities.
And a pretty darn good dancer!!

With Durante as ever living up to his catch phrase song that it all comes from the heart, right from the start.
Very much giggle-fodder as they both take the mick out of themselves.

When Burt Lancaster introduced just Jimmy Durante, I wondered why not Bobby Darin also. Then I saw just (Jimmy?) and continued to wonder. But then the real Durante appeared and in close up Bobby Darin was revealed to have impersonated Durante -- PERFECTLY! A WoW moment for sure.
