Thanks for the vid. I never realized how much clutch you were using to hold yourself on the hills when you need to reposition. Front brake doesn't do much but always assumed you kept your foot on the rear, but in this vid it was obvious you are slipping the clutch to keep the bike from rolling back as you worked it around
Rich, why don't enduro bikes use beaded tires sans inner tubes like trials bikes? Of course having knobs is important too. So a beaded tire with good knob profile. They seem to provide the best traction because you can run such low pressures. I know the rim would have to change so the spokes don't go in like a traditional dirt bike wheel, but it would seem to be a pretty darn good setup.
Mr. Larsen, didn't you know ...?? of course it's kinda hard do and talk about 2 different things - we're MEN ! only women can do it easily :-) That aside , just wanted to say , I'm a guy from Israel, and though we can't get here in Israel all those magnificent IRC tires that we see in your videos - i watch your videos and I LOVE them !!!! 💪👏 you're THE BEST !!!! Greetings from Israel, and God bless !!!!
You look awesome on that Husky! Such great ride style. Say hi to Roamer for us. EDIT: I'm running your IRC "Competition rated trials tire" TR - 011 with a blown out bib, you talk about traction on stuff like that waterfall, it's beyond amazing. I run it on a 300 XCW.
I have 3 flat tires within 6 hours of riding with tublliss system on Dunlop at81ex 110/100-18. I wonder if it’s the structure of the tire that cause this. All 3 flats are not repairable. 2 on the tire shoulder where covered by rim. One on the tire surface but too big to be repaired. It’s hard to get irc tires here in Taiwan. I know Rich works for irc and might not be giving opinions about tires of other brands, but it seems like the structural problem you are talking about in the video. I’m going to try mousse on those flat tires since they still have plenty of life left. Thanks you your video once again as it gave me some ideas. Thank you Rich
I run tubliss most of the time, but have some wheels set up on mousse for days I want to do really gnarly stuff. I've used that AT81ex before as well and I would NOT put that on a tubliss tire. It's just too soft everywhere for tubliss. The VE33S works well with tubliss and I have been using the JX8 on tubliss as well and it's held up good for me, but could depend on where and how you ride. I felt the JX8 didn't quite have the level of grip the AT81ex had, but it's getting very close. I would recommend trying it if you want a gummy and stay on tubliss.
Hey Rich, the Husky seems to be smooth, I know the beta has more torque, although it would be interesting which bike goes up the slippery bits, possibly the beta might hit a bit harder and get on the pipe which may break traction ?? btw The waterfall crossing was awesome the see, not the perfect take, real world, love navigating that stuff.
Honestly, the beta lugs just as good as the husky. Actually did a breakdown on this exact section on the Beta. You can check it out here. hannel. You can check it out here. That being said the mistake here was all mine. Not the bike.
I just mounted the JX8 per your recommendation. I'll let you know how it works after Sunday's race. What tire changer is that? Looks way easier than my cheapo changer

Hahaha. Just kidding. Tell ‘em all to eff off. It’s your channel you can wear pink piggies on your kit and blue hair if you want.
@IRCTireUSAMoto would you be willing to do a video on suspension tuning? I just got a 2024 TE250 this year and I am noticing your suspension is significantly softer. But I am not quite sure how to dial it in for my height/weight/riding style.
I like that you mentioned the six-rimlock setup , I'm assuming that FIM legal tyres have a slightly shorter knob than what you're using ? At some point might a 4wd style bead lock might get developed ? I also assume that the tubliss system has been tried but must miss on some criteria ? Anyway, that waterfall looked pretty high - consequences.
FIM tire have a 13mm knob height. These are definitely taller. I’d have to look up the exact number. Trials rear tires have a bead lock set up. I’m not sure if we’ll ever see one in Moto. Tubliss although great for adjustability has a much higher likelihood of failure compared to mousse.
@@IRCTireUSAMoto trials tyre and wheel setup is just a tubeless rim , I've run mine at 0 psi by mistake and not had it come off , wouldn't trust it under someone giving it full welly.
That sil glide does not eat the foam? I have been trying soooooo many different options but other than mousse lube I have not been happy with anything else so far as the mousse breaks down with the others
@@Liamcraig-p2z Not always. The FIM spec tyre is for enviroment damage control. Maximum tread height of 14mm and the 140 is to prevent digging up the terrain. It has nothing to do with performance.
With all the work you do to your Mousse, how much ride time do you get out of them before switching? I just bought a used EX350F and it has Mousse in the wheels and Im completely uneducated on them. Thanks.
Forget the hair, what kind of psychopath changes tires so calmly without cussing! 🤣With 2 rim locks I'm guessing you don't have to worry about setting the bead so much with the soft bib?
When you run it that soft, you run the risk of it not popping out. I’ve always ran it that way. And I’ve also seen top riders run at the same. It’s all good.
I was wondering how important this is, jus hacked my mousse up an added a 2nd rim lock. Naturally the only place the bead isn't popped out is on one of the rim locks. Tried to pull it out with tire spoon, no go. I could go back an drill another hole to put air to it but I'd rather not

Why? It will not deform as good on a tall rim.
Where is this at? 4:40
But what about tubliss? Didn't try it?
Tubliss has a much higher failure rate than mousse. In my testing they failed. Cant have that
