  • June 22nd, 2020....4 months and 2 days after I placed my order for a 2020 Hellraisin Dodge Challenger 1320...I got the call that it arrived at the dealer.
    Tag along as I drive out to the dealership and see it for the very first time along with a clip the PDI Manager took of it being offloaded the transport truck.
    Big thanks to Classic Dodge of Denton for their awesome handling of an anxious PITA customer. They worked with me throughout all my crazy requests and got me clips for this video. If you're in the North Texas/DFW area check them out!

    Ha! Just watched this again, so cool to hear your excitement! I asked my dealer for the same thing before my '21 1320 was delivered in December 2021. Unfortunately my saleswoman left the dealership right before it was delivered and it never got done, no pics, no video.
    My '22 1320 was just built on July 20, 2022 and awaiting shipment. My current salesman assured me he'll get some pics and and video this time. My '21 came with the full interior (they talked me into it), the '22 is a single seater. Had to twist some arms to get it that way, sales manager almost wouldn't allow it.
    Going to moth ball the '21 with only 1,520 miles on the clock for a future sale after they are out of production. Going to race to '22. I know it might make more sense to do the opposite and keep the '22 with no miles, but I think the '21 with all seats and the dealer installed rear seat delete kit will be easier to sell than a race only single seater. What do you think Chris? I value your opinion~ Anthony

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can I'd also see about talking to either the general manager or find out who the receiving/pdi manager is. The original salesguy I ordered mine through left before my car was delivered too, so after he left I spoke with the general manager about my request and he actually gave my info to the receiving manager, and that's the person who called me as soon as the truck arrived and took the video for me. I don't think I mentioned it in this vid but after I saw the car and talked to the receiving manager, I went over to the sales side to get the paperwork done and no one there, not even the sales manager, even knew my car had arrived. They thought I came in for an update until I told them it was already there and I had just seen it and was ready to get the paperwork done lol.
      As for which car to store, that's tough, I'm honestly not a big fan of storing cars just to resell them, but since this isn't a limited car like the Demon I'll give you a pass lol. I think it depends on your race goals. If I could go back I would definitely had gotten a single seater since that has things removed making it lighter that I can't really remove on mine. Plus I'd tear it apart to finally confirm what airbags are actually in the car and what's not. So trying to get the car the lightest possible, I'd race the single seater. But, I'm pretty sure that's not what you're going for, and being a bracket racer you don't have to be the lightest.
      So all that said, if I was in your position, I'd keep racing the 21 and put away the single seater 22. Now for the reasons why, and these are just my opinions and I could be wrong on some. First, it's rumored they might not offer the 1320 in 2023, if that's the case, then the 22 will be the last year, and to me it seems the first year and last year of something tends to be more collectible than middle years. Second, factory single seaters are going to be the rarest of all. In 2019 there were only 11 made, in 2020 only 3. I don't have the figures for 21 or 22 but I'd guess it's also in the single digits since 21 only had I believe 650ish 1320s made and with all the shortages my guess is it'll be similar in 2022. Third, the type of buyer for collectible type cars probably doesn't care as much about seating for passengers, and with a single seater being rarer, there's a good chance it would end up in another collection anyway. Especially if, and this is my 4th reason, you can intercept it and not let it go through pdi and keep all the original factory protective plastics (steering wheel/shift knob/uconnect screen/seat covers/etc.), basically make it a car that's still exactly like it arrived from the factory. Then finally is the mileage difference, which kind of is an extension of my 4th reason. It'll be more pure, and to keep it that way I'd rent a trailer and tow it from the dealer lot to whereever it's going to be put away.
      Again, I could be completely wrong, but that's my thinking, plus dealer installed things don't really matter as much as factory installed things, with the main exception being if your dealer becomes famous for doing stuff like that, such as Grand Spaulding Dodge. At least you have a little more time to think about it.

    • @artillerybuff2000
      @artillerybuff2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Scavenger1320 WOW, thanks for all the good input! Lots to think about. I only mentioned the dealer installed rear seat delete because the '21 has the option to have all the seats put back in by the next owner if they wish. I know investment wise you're probably right on, and my original intent was to save & later sell the '22. In fact, it's the only way I could get my wife on board with it lol. And the minor weight difference probably won't matter that much 1/4 mile wise. And the '21 is already broken in able to race. Chris, you've convinced me! Already have a car trailer so good to go.
      OR, if I can convince my wife to race we could have his & hers race cars? Realistically, at my age, my kids will probably end up with these anyway before I ever get to selling them and that would be a shame/waste of some beautiful cars. Seen it happen so many times, old guys hanging onto to stuff they think they'll use again some day, won't consider selling and then one day the widow or kids are selling everything off without any vested interest whatsoever. I don't like the idea of a car sitting either, even if properly stored. Everything I own gets used or I get rid of it, not a collector or hoarder by any stretch. Oh my, not I'm not sure again, ugh... my head says save the '22 and my heart says RACE IT, race them both and let the future values fall where they may. Neither will ever even reach 2,000 miles or even close because once I hit 1,500 good break-in miles it track use only after that, but yeah, a preserved unused one could be worth some good money in a few years.

    • @artillerybuff2000
      @artillerybuff2000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it was purely just an investment move then storing the '22 is a no brainer. This might just be me getting the car the way I really wanted it the first time and trying to recoupe or even make a couple of bucks on the '21 a couple years from now.

    • @Scavenger1320
      @Scavenger1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@artillerybuff2000 I can feel how tough the decision is. What you said kind of makes me want to change my mind as well. There is one other reason I think in favor of just racing the single seater 22. As car guys we love nothing more than to talk about our cars. We already get that a lot with how little most people know about the 1320, but when people see the single seat, that opens up even more of the conversation, especially when you see someone walk by, look inside, and say some remark like 'oh, he's gutted', not knowing what they're really looking at. Plus I've wondered what would happen if you went to race in a street class where the rules specifically say you must have a full interior with both seats and then show them that it came from the factory that way. Sorry if I'm not making it any easier lol, but from the sound of it making the 22 the car you take to the track does sound like the right thing to do.

      @@392mopar4 np. yeah, you can daily drive on these, but they won't last long and they're not that great in the rain. I think most people can get around 10K miles on them, but it really depends on how you drive. One thing I would do for sure that I also did is swap out the front tires. Drag radials on the front is a waste. You're better off putting regular tires up front, and then keep the drag radials for when you burn through the original pair on the rear wheels.

      @Scavenger1320  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congrats! Waiting for it sucks but it'll be worth it once you get it. You won't be able to know the build date until it's actually built. If your dealer is giving you dates they're just estimated. Once it's built, the date can be found in a few places. On your window sticker at the bottom is a 4 digit code, that is the month/day that it went into KZ status, meaning it was released from the factory. For a more exact date, you'll need to look at your VIN tag on the door jamb. There's a manufactured date on there which shows the month/year. There's also an "MDH" code on it which stands for MonthDayHour. So mine says 060419, meaning it rolled off the assembly line on June 4th at 7pm. If you want to know as soon as your car has been built, just keep checking this link: www.dodge.com/webselfservice/BuildSheetServlet?vin=2C3CDZFJ3LH155765 Just replace my VIN at the end with your own VIN. That's the build sheet and as soon as it pops up you'll know its been built, before then you'll just get a blank page saying no records found. When I was waiting for mine to be built I think I refreshed that page a hundred times a day for weeks lol
