    This is so important! It was recently discovered that a lot of fragrance oils that Makesy had listed as clean and toxin free actually were not! Buyers only had to pull up the SDS to see that they were in fact not what the company had claimed on the main description pages for each fragrance. They tried to get around it but after enough makers contacted them they finally pulled the claims down. Buyer beware and always do your own research and don’t trust a company just because they claim something is clean!

      Hi Meaghan! Wow, I wasn't aware of that. Yikes!! Thanks for sharing.

      What that's crazy! I am so disappointed. So, I just looked at the MSDS sheets for some of the makesy fragrance that I thought were safe & Non toxic. One of my favorite fragrance oils: "acute aquatic toxicity. Very Toxic to aquatic life chronic aquatic toxicity. Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects" The broken chest pictogram, may be harmful if inhaled and a prop65 warning. can't feel good about using it knowing this information. Thanks for the heads up! I was just about to put in a huge order with them.

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@1idontwantausername That dead fish pictogram can be a little confusing but I can tell you that it is non-toxic to humans if it contains this pictogram and I wouldn't concern yourself with toxicity to aquatic life because you're not dispersing the fragrance into water/nature (and if you needed to get rid of it, you could dispose of it in a proper facility). Does this make sense?

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The toxicity to humans pictograms are the heart exploding from the chest and the skull and crossbones pictograms. I'd try to avoid those and as long as you do, you can claim your fragrances are non-toxic.

    Hi love your videos!! Curious to know if maybe you can make a video going through one of the sds sheets how you go through them… maybe a little voice over going through some of the FO from different companies

    • @earthglow

      Hi! Could you be more specific with what you're asking here? There are hundreds and hundreds of different compounds I'm looking to avoid (my college training is in biochemistry which is how I can identify them), so that gets really intricate and nuanced. The intention of this was to provide you with a good general overview.

    thanks Allen for this super helpful information! I order most of my scents from SixteenSeventeen and was surprised to see that many of their fragrances have the exploding chest symbols you mentioned to avoid. Am I reading something wrong? I would assume that for luxury oils that are made in California they wouldn't contain super harmful ingredients? Have you come across this with their oils? They claim that their fragrances are skin safe, cruelty free, phthalate free, paraben free, vegan, and non-carcinogenic?

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Arev! You make a really good point. I mention this as a general rule but Sixteen Seventeen’s oils (when you get down to the nitty gritty) are very clean. The fact that they are located in California and must abide by arguably the most stringent state’s laws and requirements is an excellent point as well. Every one of those claims that they make can be verified on a chemical level, and to my knowledge, all are absolutely true. Hope this helps!

    You might of said and I didn't catch It but what does the exclamation mark mean on the safety data sheets?

    • @earthglow
      @earthglow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Crystal Duke! All fragrance and essential oils will have this one and it just is a symbol that the fragrance may cause skin, eye, or respiratory tract irritation. They are not meant to be unused undiluted and again, every fragrance and essential oils has this pictogram :)

      @@earthglow So if it has that it's okay to use? I had no idea and am just upset with myself I should of looked some of my oils up. I got a ton of Porter Candle Supply fragrance oils and after watching your video I went and looked some up. And all but 2 so far has the exploding chest symbol on them. 😳 😭 I spent 100's and had no clue. Thank you for shining light on this better now while I'm still reasonably new then later when I'm in full swing of things. Thank you so much.

      @Earthglow Hey Allen , just to let you know about updates, i was really disappointed that i got the sds from flaming candle and found out that the term phthalate free on their website is incorrect.
