    In the 60's, these guys were ubiquitous on TV. They influenced a lot of groups and put fun in rock and roll. Put them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - now!

      @@tomgebarowski8156 I agree. It is not a secret anymore that most rock acts recorded their records using studio musicians. The record labels knew the studio musicians could knock out a song a lot faster and better. The acts usually learned to play their own songs AFTER they were recorded and BEFORE they went on tour. The Hall should focus on acts like this from the 60's. Too many are overlooked to appeal to "diversity."

      I hear that. Mike was on in the afternoon if l recall. I'd catch him once in awhile if l was indoors. In the old days you like lived outside unless raining, or you'd be in a friend's house.

    I was 12 in "68. In L.A. we used to start the day watching various cartoons...the old ones, just the best! The I watched "Day's of our Lives" everyday, lol, then "Art Linkletter's Houseparty"..."Matchgame" hosted by Gene Rayburn..."The Mike Douglas Show"..."Batman"...then "The Monkees", remember those? "Gilligans Island" was in there somewhere too

      Of all the talk shows that had contemporary pop culture guests, M.D.'s were the most eclectic. Jeez, he even had John & Yoko on as co-hosts for an entire week! But unfortunately, like all variety shows from back then, the groups were always forced to mime their hit songs.

      Was this Mike Douglas show from Philly or LA? Growing up in the 60's my next store neighbor who was eight months pregnant and was on his show and because she was really huge, Mike made a point to talk with her in the audience. Douglass was a true gentleman and his show was underated. I think he even had the Rolling Stones on, girls were screaming lol

    Love the video for "She's My Girl"! Mike and the audience really seem to doubt those ages, especially Howard but they really were telling the truth :p In an age where so many celebs shaved a few years off their ages, these guys were being honest and seemed to be doubted anyway. Howard definitely didn't look 20 though so I see the reason. :p I always loved that song, glad to see it got some play in its day. I liked Flo and Eddie's Zappa and radio stuff post-Turtles but I do wish this group could've kept it together for a few more albums, they were woefully underrated.

    it seems to me that the turtles did the first music video back in the 60's before VH1 was even thought of,they were a great group and they were in my time of being a teenager, now that was great music in the 60's but i really didn't care to much for the early 70's but i liked most of the music in the 80;s i know it seems weird ,but i meet my 2nd husband then and going strong for over 30 years now and counting

      Check out the Smothers brothers 'Happy Together' TV slot. Howard Kaylan (lead vocals) looked anything from 40 to 50 but he was actually 19!!
      Amazing group - up there with any of the best 60s groups for me.

    These videos are so much fun to watch! I can't help but wonder if the initial 2 "trips" at 10:17 were accidental and then they kept playing off it. It looked so organic and perfect 😄
