    I have celiac disease and have been very sick for about 4 years. This past year I have been pretty much bed ridden with severe gut issues, not being able to digest, not being able to tolerate any foods and so sick. I researched the carnivore diet and started it 4 months ago. While I know I have a ways to go yet for gut healing, I am no longer bed ridden and living a pretty normal life again. This diet has saved my life!

      First I went gluten free, some improvement then got worst again.
      Then went dairy free…again the same.
      Then low fodmap and no grains, after purchasing no grain no pain book. Again some improvement then worst again.
      Now I am strict carnivore… meat only and water. Zero carbs! I so far I am the best I have been in years. It has only been 4 months and I obviously still have some healing to do, probrably take a while but I am living life again😁😁

    It blows my mind how someone can tell you they are Vegan and only eat plants and everyone is like "cool, good for you!" but you tell that same group of people your Carnivore and they gasp and their mind is blown and they are suddenly concerned about your health and well being. To me it should be the opposite but here we are, in this backwards world where everything right is wrong and everything wrong is right.

    I was married to a vegan for 15 years. During that time I gained around 5 pounds a year, so by the time I turned 70 I weighed 254 pounds and had a 42" waist. My wife made all our meals, including the lunch I took to work everyday - usually green smoothies for breakfast, a leafy salad for lunch, and veggies, rice or beans, and fruit for dinner. After my divorce, I went keto in 2020 and lost 45 pounds, then went carnivore in 2022. I now weigh 165 and have a 32" waist. The health issues like high blood pressure, auto-immune rashes, prediabetic A1C levels, and severe acid reflux that I had when I was obese have all gone away. I feel as good now as I did in my 30's.

    Carnivore for 8 months. Lost 40 lbs, lowered BP, feel AMAZING. I was NOT sick before, just fat and miserable (aching knees, elbows, left hip, ankles, etc). So afraid I would never figure out my metabolism. Now I don't think about it at all. I have NO FOOD CRAVINGS. I now eat ANYTHING I want (carnivore), when I want. I am NEVER hungry. The only way I stayed my original weight was to be horribly hungry all the time. I now walk more (even RUN, sometimes). No brain fog. Better memory, more stamina, MUCH BETTER mental outlook. All diets are limited. My diet just limits carbs to 0. If I have 4 carbs, I want MORE, MORE, MORE. Like alcohol. you can't have just a little bit if you are an alcoholic. prior to 8 months ago I was a vegetarian for 25 years.

    This is anectodal but before going on Carnivore I had no problem digesting fiber. In fact, felt "ok" on a high level of vegetables, except I continued to have inflamation, heat hives, and had a hard time losing weight. Was also stiff in the joints and had a hard time moving normally. 3 weeks into Carnivore I could run like I could when I was 30 years old. I've lost 15 lbs in about a month, without any effort and feel 20+ years younger.

    I was suffering horribly for years. Severe abdominal bloating that was constant. It would be best in the mornings. I would only look 6 months pregnant. By late evening I would look 11 months pregnant and would have pain into my back and shoulders. The bloating made it impossible to bend over for more than a few seconds because I literally couldn't breath when I was bent over. I tried ALL of the gas and bloating remedies. Nothing helped, and some things made it worse.
    I also had so much pain, especially in my feet. And when I would stand up after sitting a while I couldn't full stand up straight for a few seconds, and once I was standing up straight I would have to will my feet to start moving. Things like grocery shopping or even taking a shower had me completely exhausted and I would have to take a break at least halfway through anything I was doing.
    These were just a few of my symptoms, but they were by far the worst ones. I tried every way of eating and nothing helped. My doctors were no help either. They did a food allergy test which came back negative and then just told me to try a gluten free and anti-inflammatory diet. So I did all the research and removed everything that might be remotely inflammatory. All gluten, all seed oils, removed all processed foods, avoided sugar but what was in fruit, and removed any vegetables that I thought might be an issue. I did that for several months with no improvements at all.
    Then I tried keto, so only meat, fat (mostly from avocados and butter plus whatever was in the meat), and low carb vegetables. That brought about some relief. My bloating went down some, my energy increased a little, my mental health improved some (diagnosed bipolar II in 2002 and have had constant low-level depression for the last several years along with debilitating anxiety), and my pain also improved some. I was so excited, thinking this was going to be the answer. But 7 months into eating this way and all of the improvements had remained mild. I was still suffering, just not quite as bad.
    I started hearing so many great stories about carnivore, but I resisted at first because I believed we HAD to have vegetables. But having nothing to lose I finally gave it a try. I thought "Well 30 days won't kill me". That was 2 1/2 years ago. Carnivore cured ALL of my symptoms, mental and physical. Every single one. It cured things I didn't think could be cured. The only thing it hasn't completely cured is my hypothyroidism, at least that I know of. But it has improved it. I've been on medication for that since 2016, and until I started carnivore they would regularly have to increase my dosage. Since starting carnivore they've had to reduce it three times, which never happened before.
    Anyway, that's my story on carnivore. The shortened version, even.

    • @lorrainemagarian2677
      @lorrainemagarian2677 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For hypothyroidism try low oxalate fruits and vegetables. Make sure to avoid the seeds e.g. in cucumber, squash, etc. I also struggle with hypothyroidism and plan on adding selected low oxalates.

    • @HappilyCarnivore
      @HappilyCarnivore 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      @@lorrainemagarian2677 I don't tolerate plants. Any of them. Meat, fish, and eggs only. But as I said, my hypothyroidism is improving on carnivore. And carnivore is a zero oxalate diet, or nearly so. There are one or two foods that have a very small amount of oxalates, but not as much as you would find in a low oxalate vegetable or fruit.

    I am A+ and carnivore has completely reversed excessive bloating, belching and gas. I did not need to lose weight per se, (5’4/119 lbs) however I am now at 112 lbs., no bloating, no gas, no belching. I move so much better and my memory has improved significantly. I have always been athletic but my joints were beginning to compromise my endurance, strength and posture. Joint pain and brain fog left me exhausted. It did take more than 30 days for diarrhea to calm down. I do add Vitamin D, EFA’s, zinc, iodine, C and Magnesium glycinate/malate. I also drink a mold free half decaf coffee, black. Went off for 12 hours…..Fun for a bit but itching everywhere, bloating, gas, belching all returned. I’m back to Carnivore. I do want to have some detailed blood work done just for a baseline.

    All very interesting and possible explanations for some of the effects of the carnivore diet. One thing that isn't covered here is the healing that comes from it. In my case I had stage three kidney disease and diabetes both go into complete remission within two months of starting carnivore. Now diabetes shouldn't be surprising as eating carbohydrates are the primary cause, but kidney disease? Also about five years ago I was diagnosed with an enlarged heart with a hard left ventricle that was not pumping in concert with the right. On February twentieth this year I went to my biannual cardiology appointment and was told that my heart function was now normal, none of the points made here are an answer to this .

    All these case studies have almost no control. With me i ate only beef, fish, and pasture raised eggs, for a full 4 years. When i got myself checked i had 0 deficiencies, do im skeptical as to the level of control here. Alot of people who move to this diet usually still have the restrictive mindset that has been instilled in them from childhood. Your body is very intelligent. If you eat without restrictive mindset, your body will sigal you to eat when you are deficient.

    Great info, as usual. The only thing I wish you would say is to be aware of oxalate dumping on carnivore. I experienced this as I was eating a lot of gluten free grains, spinach, almonds and other nuts and chocolate while vegetarian for 3 years, then keto for about 10 years. I went carnivore to get rid of the carb cravings, which it did, but after about 2 weeks, I had tremendous diarrhea and inflammation. After searching for a reason, I discovered oxalate dumping. Now I'm on low oxalate diet and feeling less inflammation than I did before the carnivore diet. I suspect that those who feel worse on carnivore are experiencing this oxalate dumping. Otherwise, I really like your balance of experience and science.

      I did my research before Carnivore and found out about oxalates, which I had never heard of or paid attention to before. I was lucky I never had issues with them, but I didn't want to experience any "oxalate dumping." I didn't start Carnivore cold turkey. I did stop eating vegetables, but ate a cucumber now and then, ate a square of dark chocolate every night and didn't give up putting stevia in my tea, and I didn't experience any dumping that I'm aware of. I'm not a true Carnivore as I won't ever give up drinking my tea. Maybe someday I can get used to drinking tea without stevia or I won't be able to find stevia without other ingredients. The organic stevia I bought for years added inulin, so I stopped using it and had to switch.

    Hey Peter! What a great style of presentation and packed with great foundational information. I went keto/carnivore 9 days ago as part of a plan for metabolic rehabilitation. 6x cancer survivor (24 years free) yet had lasting long term side effects. A great milestone was including Zone 2 training (geting a metabolic assessment from Dr. San Millan) yet not enough. One thing I want you to consider about the carnivore diet is the cutting off of many addictive pathways - which is one major reason for my interest in going keto/carnivore for 100 days. Grains and the sweet flavor of everything. Certainly disbiosis and potential environmental contibutors of poor indoor air quality. I also am working with a functional nutritional practitioner with blood, urine and hair anaylsis to help guide the healing journey. Thanks again for your contribution to this subject.

      I was just diagnosed with heart failure. 66 and never did doctors, and this was my first medical intervention. I ended up walking out of the hospital due to lack of trust. The nurses and others said my blood work was really good. A doctor wanted to put me on cholesterol medicine. My cholesterol is well within normal. I asked why I need...well, let's just say that all the doctors are interested in is running up the bill. I've done carnivore before and like the results. But now I'm going back to it because the medical industry just wants you to stay sick. I know carnivore heals so I'm going back to it. F*&k the medical industrial complex.

    I'm a strict carnivore. But how do you explain the Hunza People and their diet? The Hunza People: Unraveling the Secrets of their Longevity
    Nestled in the breathtaking Himalayan mountains, the Hunza Valley is home to a remarkable community of people renowned for their extraordinary longevity. It’s said that their average life expectancy is around 120 years. The Hunza people have long captured the fascination of the world, with many attributing their extended lifespans to the apricot fruit that is an integral part of their diet.
    For generations, the Hunza people have enjoyed a simple yet nutritious lifestyle, largely centered around the consumption of apricots. These succulent fruits are rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, providing the Hunza people with vital nutrients that contribute to their overall well-being.
    But it's not just apricots that contribute to the Hunza's remarkable health and longevity. Their lifestyle includes a balanced diet of fresh vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. They avoid processed foods, which helps prevent chronic diseases that plague modern societies.
    Physical activity is ingrained in their daily routine, as the Hunza people traverse rugged terrain, cultivating their fields and engaging in outdoor activities. Their active lifestyle helps maintain robust cardiovascular health and muscle strength.

    I have been on a carnivore diet for almost two years now and I felt a lot better for a while, but now (although I do not know what my tissue values were before) I have developed high tissue iron, high manganese, and a potassium and sodium deficiency. My calcium to potassium ratio is way off, so is my calcium to phosphorous, calcium to magnesium, iron to copper, and I feel really awful. All of my blood values are perfect however. I still believe in a carnivore diet but be careful that the transition doesn't knock you all the way off in the other direction as your body struggles to adjust. A lot of these values were probably off before too though.
    I don't believe a carnivore diet is actually lacking in nutrition, but I believe that there is something else going on when you are transitioning from a high carb diet to a no carb diet. Insulin spikes are involved in the body taking up minerals and I think rather that latent insulin resistance and reliance on carbohydrates since birth makes it hard for the body to absorb and utilize everything it needs on a pure meat based diet. It's probably better to slowly transition off carbs over 6 months to a year rather than going cold turkey. But this is all speculation.

      you need to take electrolytes and a good salt on carnivore

    • @RandomHuTaoSimp
      @RandomHuTaoSimp 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What you need to be doing is instead of having a few or one moderate of small meal(s) a day, aim to have a HUGE boules of food in one sitting, with enough protein and fat to trigger just enough of an insulin response to hold onto your electrolytes at the level of the kidney. A lot of people actually make this mistake and as a result they become electrolyte deficient. Try that. It's a good way to consume 1 large meal a day. Eventually your gut microbiome will develop the bacteria using amino acids and beta-hydroxy-butyrate AKA; short chain fatty acids as a by-product of ketones in order to slowly break down larger amounts of meat in a single sitting having small amount of raw milk kefir can help with that as well. Also your gallbladder and liver will also increase its capacity over time to secrete bile acids needed to break down your food.
      I hope this helps. If you have any questions just reply

    1 year now on 90% carnivore. On some days, i eat vegetables, and rarely carbs 40g. My aim is 100% Carnivore on the following days.
    What i noticed on the 12th month i am rarely sleepy on 6hours of sleep. Before, 8hours and still sleepy in the morning for hours.
    I used to have migraine like for 3days in a row, on average twice a month but on 4th quarter, it gradually diminished. On my 12th month i am migraine free.
    I never change anything except my diet.
    Day 1 seems to be just yesterday, but it's now a year. For months, it seems to no effect, but after a year of Carnivore i am reaping the benefits. This is so cool. I can now save 1 hour of bedtime to use the time for my reading education.

I had a meal off and ate a 3 course meal on saturday, I enjoyed it at the time but soon regretted it. I'm not partisan about the diet, not guilt ridden for eating off plan, my regret??? Just saying "she was on a carnivore diet" isn't enough, what exactly was she eating, what is "healthy meats" or an "accurate carnivore diet" - it should be about 90% ruminant meat, preferably grass fed grass finished and how much per day. Deficiencies, particularly the ones mentioned, indicate she's not eating enough red meat, as beef in particular (and grass fed) is very high in these. I eat about 60-70% of my diet as grass fed grass finished beef and I don't have any of the deficiencies mentioned in this video.

I've done it without stepping in a gym and only going for the occasional walk although am active gardening. I've struggled for 55+ years trying to lose weight and yo-yoing. I will never go back to carbs. Was not really suffering from any ill health but have lowered my blood pressure by 40 points and think, looking back, I was getting towards being pre-diabetic. My husband is eating this way - he's off his blood pressure lowering drugs, also off his anti-blood clot drugs (he's had 2 small clots in his leg), has stopped snoring and is at goal weight. One thing, I also want to say is the peace of mind not facing older age with ill health - like all my friends and neighbours are suffering from - especially since the jabs.

    The case study of the women who had nutrient deficiencies would point to an absorption problem. Plant-based dieters that show deficiencies are almost always evaluated for malabsorption and treated by boosting stomach acid. Was that checked?
    Almost all the nutrients mentioned are available from animal sources. The fact she was found so deficient, especially in amino acids on a meat diet, would lead me to investigate absorption.

    Could you please do a video explaining more about nutrition and blood types?
    I have been Keto for exactly 5 years now. Every time I tried to go Carnivore I felt a lot worse - bloating, cramps, weight gain and blood sugar going up. I am type A.
    Also, could you address the Neu5Gc issue?
    Thank you 🙏

      I'm an A and do great on carnivore, plants cause me a lot of issues. I took betaine hcl for awhile and now at meals I do digestive enzymes. I actually feel skinnier, due to no bloat. I would recommend trying those 2 supplements on any diet and see how you feel with them.

      @@therealjenniferrr , do you combine the betaine hcl with digestive enzymes? I've been using ox bile, but wasn't sure if I needed betaine hcl also.

    I have been on carnivore for 5 years...no nutritional deficiencies yet! BTW, you don't have to eat any organ meats. There is a reason organ meats don't look good, taste good or smell good. The whole idea is based on the concept of "more is better." More vitamins does not necessarily mean better...
    According to VilJalumur Steffanson, the carnivorous Eskimos never ate organ meats, unless they were starving. They fed the organs to their dogs...

      Yes! I never ate organs when I was on the standard western diet and now I'm eating real food rather than the sugary grainy sludge everyone else eats I'm supposed to suddenly need to top off my steak and eggs with liver or the world will end (looking at some health influencers demeanor on the topic).
      Thank you for the anecdote about the Eskimo too

    It was difficult sharing family meals for most of my life, knowing the meal would eventually disagree with me. All my family are blood type A and AB. I'm the only B. My mother keeps insisting I eat fruit and veggies and piles up my plate every time I visit 😂 ❤️💚

    • @JCX-9
      @JCX-9 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You should look into the Blood Type diet. I have been following it for many years and it really makes sense why certain foods are not suitable to our blood type and which foods are of great benefit. Honestly the only blood type that greatly benefits from eating lot of meat is the O blood type. Most of the others not so much. But the blood type diet will tell you which meats to eat and which to avoid to best benefit your type. I am surprised more of these doctors don’t consider this but think one type of diet is suitable for everybody which is total nonsense.

    • @Magnetar11nova
      @Magnetar11nova 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @JCX-9 I've looked into eating according to your blood type. Type B is advised to avoid pork and chicken, which I discovered as a child, long before the book was even written. Type B do very well eating beef and lamb, and also discovered as a child. So it's not just Type O that are suited to a more meat based diet. B diet also doesn't agree with seafood. At least from the very old book version I read.
      Thank you anyway for the advice.
      I've gone back to eating instinctively, which I did when I was younger, before I started paying attention to doctors and nutritionist. Many years later, much to my amazement, I found my preferred and tolerated foods mostly aligned with my blood type. Growing up with a family who thrived on fruit and vegetables while I craved meat wasn't easy. Decades later, my mother still tries to get me to eat my greens 🥰💚

      I'm an A and have always had meat at meals, and my lack of acid problems was because they put me on PPIs for so long. I took betaine hcl for a little while and now I mostly just do digestive enzymes at meals. Carnivore agrees with my digestion, no bloating or gas.

    There are ONLY two options as far as what's happened to the modern medical industry....they powers to be that run the medical and food agencies have either gone bat sh*t crazy or they are COMPLETELY corrupt wanting a sicker society with their guidelines....either option isn't good for society!!! So now I go by the rule of whatever THEY say to do I do the opposite!!! I've been keto for a couple of years, did great, experimented with carnivore for the last several months and did even better, not I am ketovore, 90% carnivore with mostly 100% grass fed ruminant red meat, pasture raised eggs and 10% plant based with avocados, blueberries and pecans....along with fresh squeezed lemon juice and organic apples cider vinegar!! I'm currently 52 years old and am in better shape and feel more energetic than I did for the last 20 years before I started this journey....oh and in addition haven't had a cold or flu since 2020!!!

      @@paulettejackson1767 Yes, I had to relearn to love steak fat instead of trimming it all off because I remembering hearing as a kid to avoid fat because it would make you fat....now I know that is a lie so I have learned to embrace fat but on leaner cuts I add grass fed butter and garlic. With poultry and eat the skin with the meat which is packed with fat and nutrition and collagen, I have a stick of grass fed butter probably about every 2-3 days. I try to maintain a minimum of 30% to 40% fat which includes butter with my protein.

    One thing I found out that may make a difference for some: I had an immune mediated reaction test done (IgG) and discovered I had elevated antibodies for egg (both yolk and white) and dairy (casein). This was terrible for me since I ate 4-5 eggs daily and added butter to my steak. I will gradually reintroduce eggs and dairy after a 90 day elimination and test once again to see if my sensitivity persists.

Hopefully coming from you he might give it some though as to keeping an eye on his potential risks. I have been hearing but I feel better on the carnivore diet and I said its possible because you are not eating as much junk and not drinking milk possible foods that you had allergies to. That being said you just said a lot of what I have been trying to tell him. He is 73 and I witnessed him having constipation as you mentioned and now he eats 3 bananas to help with that🙃 He use to have a bad odor when going to bathroom but now that is much better so like you mentioned good things come with the diet but just be sure to follow up with testing 👌Norma J

    I have type A blood, and went on the Carnivore diet because I was trying to boost mineral intake and heal my body. I had a lot of benefits but struggled with constant cramping in my legs, feet and hands and severe weight loss which was not good since I was already underweight. I tried upping my potassium and it helped with the cramping. That is when I realized that it is not a long term healthy diet for me due to the fact that I need to supplement vitamins and minerals and carbs to maintain a healthy weight. Somehow my body was not utilizing the fat for fuel. And the fatty meat was from grass fed beef and ocean fish. I was the healthiest when I was eating meat, a small amount of carbs from potatoes and juicing lots of organic vegetables. Where I live that is not practical since here in South America, farmers do very little organic farming. I suspected that the reason that I have never had problems eating plants is because we ferment them as well, so my gut flora is ready to digest most any plant I consume, whatever form I eat it in. I have nothing against Carnivore, but my body does much better consuming organic plants and low sugar fruits and some complex carbs along with the meats.
