    Agreed. The best part of the video was the simple trick at the end to use a 2x4. Makes me wonder now, gotta play around with other pieces of wood I might have laying around in in case I can get the same effect without having to spend money on a tool. =) Thank you.

    Feeling pretty dumb that I'd never thought about using a 2x4 as a level to break these apart. Great video!

    If you get into the longer pallets that are make with 2x4's and 4x4's. I am about finished with. I have used all the the 8', 10' and 16' 2x4's. I have also used all of my 4x4's and even used 2by's to make 4x4's. I used the 5' , 1x4's and some 1x6' pallet slats. Cut them to 5'. I even used some of the regular nails from the pallets. All I have to do is make a 10' gate with a small 2 wheeled cart to support the gate. Then the grandkids can paint the fence. I don't mess with the regular pallet 2x4's unless I have a use for those other than firewood.

      Don't know about Stateside, but we have to check the originins of pallets across Europe, as some of the older ones were preserved with chemicals that turn toxic, when exposed to naked flames.

    Thanks for that Marty...Might check them out...now while I am watching this, I will make a point that when I am dismantling pallets, I use my old safety shoes, just in case my shoes invite a nail into them. I have thick soles on them...so far so good. Not keen on having nails in my feet..lol

    It helps to be a full grown man too. There is no substitute for elbow grease and power. I had a metal shop build one like the flatbar one you got. I love tearing into pallets.

    Marty, I enjoyed your video. I watched it to the very end. And you're right, a 2x4 works just as good. Thank you for that tip.

    The ebay one ( black tool) seems to pull the boards straight up . A lot of these seem to pull on one edge of the board to start , which is not as good.

    Amazing help. I really appreciate you! I spent a few weeks getting through 5-6 pallets with a hammer and a flathead screwdriver... never again. All the best mate, cheers.

    They don’t pop apart as easily with 2x4 pry bar here in Maine, perhaps the humidity is too high.
    Thanks for the video. I’ve been thinking of buying one of the tools but wanted to see other people’s reviews.

    Thank you for a very good review. It was easy to understand and enjoyable to watch. My only comment is to you and all the other people dismantling pallets; it is not safe to throw boards down with the nail side up. If you leave one, someone may have a nasty accident !

    The hell are you doing buying expensive gizmos from the Internet, bro, when you already have the cheap and genius concept to hand?
    I'd have never thought about that method myself and it's so obvious, but you'd need something to pull out the first slat with, though.
    Thanks for posting.

  • @victorrodea7163
    @victorrodea7163 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My pallet source cuts the slats off and the nail shanks stay in 2x4 making it difficult to rip. Does anyone make a tool to remove these cut off nails?

    • @williamterry3177
      @williamterry3177 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ordered the original pallet monster off ebay. When I strip the slats off, 90 % of the nails come off with the slat. Just use a prybar nail puller to take the nails from the 2x4s.
      As for the nails in the slats, I take the slats to the band saw and cut off the nails in 10 seconds. Yes, I have to be careful when cutting the slats for a project but in most cases the nail head pieces can be in the scrap. Saves a lot of time collecting slats for stock.

    On the eBay Black Pallet Buster did it pull the nails out with the boards better than the Amazon Aluminum where the nails went thru the board? I ordered 2 of the Black ones yesterday off of eBay. I had some eBay bucks to spend, so that knocked the price down some. I'll need to get two steel pipes though, but I definitely see this cuts down the labor time than using basic tools or a 2X4. 👍 Thank you for posting the review Marty! Just FYI - Since this was videoed a while back, the link for eBay has expired. Here is the link I purchased mine from and looks the same as yours. www.ebay.com/itm/193474668898
