"Top 75" is a given, but only saying that is, in the case of Larry Legend, damning with faint praise. Kind of like saying UCLA in the late 60s and early 70s had a Top 100 basketball program.

Top 75 now you are trolling my friend. Magic , jordan , dr j , lebron , isiah thomas , stockton , ewing , gervin , cooper , worthy , kareem , hakeem , miller , sampson and moses malone all have him in their top 5 of all time.
I think he’s just referring to Larry’s being a member of the official NBA’s All-Time Top 75 list they created to celebrate their 75th season. I can def see the confusion though. It did sound as if he was saying Larry should be ranked somewhere around 75th, which would be a blasphemous statement. I’ve got him at #5…tied with Magic course. They were joined at the hip career-wise from college until they went into the Hall.
Larry won Rookie of the Year with 63 points. Magic finished second with 3 points. Bird was a superstar from his first game. He didn't adjust to the game. The opposing players had to adjust to him. He had zero weakness. In 1991,With 2 broken bones in his back and both Achilles tendons virtually destroyed, Bird would win player of the game against a championship Bulls team and Michael Jordan . Bird scored 34 points 15 Rebounds 8 Assists 3 blocks and 2 steals. He was instrumental in causing 6 Bulls turnovers. The Celtics would win 3 out of 4 games that season. He retired in , '92, still turning in brilliant performances.
Bird was a basketball psychic. He was 3 plays ahead of eceryone else. A lot of people choose Jordan because he was more "physical" and all the slams, but Bird was the all around player. He didnt give a shit about stats. He made hall of famers out of his teammates. He was all about the wins. If it means him dishing it out or taking the shots. He made sure to include his whole team. He wasnt greedy. He wasnt into padding his own stats. He was out for blood, he wanted that win. Bord has said Magic was the greatest player he ever played against, but Magic said Bird was the greatest peron that ever played. Respect. The brotherhood between those two, is whatvits all about.
oh yea bird is probably the most clutch player ever (he REGULARLY called game winners), hustled more than anyone, toughest and intelligent person in history. an argument can be made for all of that when it comes to bird. oh yea fundamentals and focus too.
You need to watch A Courtship of Rivals...best documentary you will ever see. Best thing about being my age is I was a teenager when these guys entered the league, so I got to see it from beginning to end.
Watched many a Celtics/Lakers game. My husband was a die hard Magic Johnson fan and his brother a Larry Bird fan. Made for interesting conversations to say the least
I'm 47....grew up and still a diehard Celtics fan.....the only time ive seen two teams hate each other and have wars on the court was the 90s with the Knicks and Bulls....You just don't feel that fever anymore. Everyone is friens, they play grab ass after the game. Guys back in the day we're friends off the court by on the court....they were enemies. I just feel so damn lucky that I lived through that era.....and as a kid!! Good Content my guy....you got a sub from me.
Great reaction. Liked. So you know, he didn't play that whole game lefty. He said before the game he would play with his left thru 3 quarters. He did and scored 27 lefty. He had 47 for the game & hit the game winning shot. He also had 14 rebounds & 11 assists. In the final game of their road trip. Insane stuff.
IMO, Magic & Larry resurrected the game of basketball...My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted...What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who wasn't only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, football, baseball, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, & what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique & gifted players, I ever watched! I would love you to react to the video, Larry Bird STORIES that prove he's the BEST TRASH TALKER, told by NBA players: th-cam.com/video/v7Id88T5DPsf/w-d-xo.html if you haven’t already seen or reacted to it 😊Thanks!
Awesome. Just as good as seeing it the first time. The 1980's were the best. I'm a Blazers fan & even they were great to watch in the 80's, go figure. 😅
Just watched your reaction. Thanks for showing my Larry some love. Now, as for the game where he shot from behind the hoop, here's what happened. First, he was already out of bounds and the shot didn't count. And if I remember correctly, the commentators thought that even if he HAD been in-bounds; they did not think the shot would've counted. They talked about it afterwards and even though no real consensus came forward; none of them thought it would have ever counted. But, I'm gonna tell ya that as a teenager watching my man make a shot like that? I had a grin on my face until their next game. He ALWAYS did something crazy good like that. Take care. 😀👍
TOP 75 ? .. there is not and never was a player in the game thats a better all around player than Larry Bird ! Bird is the the “ real “ 🐐 of the NBA ! lol , You’ll need to post a retraction on your next Bird reaction !
React to the video the 15 or 12 times Larry played hurt. He came into the league with a messed-up hand from playing baseball. He admitted he never had the same feel of the basketball because of it . Larry adapted and never let it slow him down. As someone who has suffered with back problems for 25 + years, I honestly don't know how he played like he did for years with an unstable spine. He would, at the end of his career, spend hours in a back brace before the game just to be able to play.

I KNEW YOUR WIFE IS AWESOME! Haha! The best part of basketball between Larry Bird and Magic Johnson to me was that there was always a high-level of trash talking and plays to back it up. What also made the Bird and Magic rivalry cool to me was that they had such a high-level mutual respect for each other. They played it and left it in the net. When the game was over, they went back to their regularly scheduled lives. Today it seems like a lot of unnecessary trash talk and antagonizing happens on social media between players and just raises tensions of everybody and distracts from the real talent of the players and the game. I know it makes me old but I miss it when the rivalry and trash talking happened during the competition and not from the couch. LOVED THE VIDEO! KEEP THEM COMING!

He told the media he was saving his right hand for the Lakers. The game went to overtime. Bird finished with 47 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. He played a lot of the first 3 quarters lefthanded, scoring 27 points with his left hand. To understand how great Bird was watch the videos that talk about how great a trash talker he was. Bird's version of trash talk was to tell the opponent what he was going to do and then do it. A lot of times they were in game winning situations. He said he got a charge out of doing that to his opponents.
Great reaction! Please do more Larry Bird. I could toss in some suggestions, but the ones I have in mind have already been mentioned so I won't bother. They're all good!

Larry wasn't just a clutch shooter he was clutch in every play. Didn't have to shoot to win. Clutch steals, rebounds, passes, and blocks won games as well. He knew this. He was on his own level.
It wasn't just the last few years Bird was playing with a bad back. His NBA career was from 1979 to 1992 and his injury was in 1985 so he actually played with that injury for more than half of his career as a player (not counting coaching, executive, etc.).
While attending college Larry's team was playing ours and we heard they had a future all American. During warm ups we tried to guess which black player he was. We were wrong, he beat our league champion team and set our arena scoring record. Loved your reaction! Peace from Northern Michigan
that moment where magic called him a "friend forever", that wasn't just a professional thing. magic and larry were and still are the best of friends. when magic had to retire due to HIV, larry was one of the few people who stood by him. watch anything with the two of them together, and you will laugh and cry at home much they love each other.
I've had a bad start to this week but hearing you say "top 75" for Bird made me laugh out loud and i needed that! Lol Thank you! Bird is top 5 in my book and no lower than top 10!
The consummate the best all-around player and I’m a Celtics fan from 1958. Could rebound could assist could block shots could make baskets and play some tough defense and he made everybody on his team better because of his leader ship and his ability and his damn good talent, the best all-around player❤😊😊😊
Magic and Bird were friends off the court. They played golf together. Bird stood by Magic when others wouldn’t. For the retirement ceremony, Magic wore a Celtics jersey under his jacket, he flashed it to Larry. The retirement ceremony was sold out. The Garden didn’t even have a game that night.
Have you lost your mind??? Did you say Top 75??? GTFOH…… that man is the best small forward in NBA history and if he’s not in your top 5 you don’t know BB.
Crazy thing is Larry refused injections or any pain killers besides beer. 2 separate times played with broken orbit concussion. First game he saw 3 baskets shot for middle one. Against Indiana he saw only 2 baskets & had to guess which was real one. Other stories can be crazier
For the most beautiful basketball you’ve ever seen, check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers. Everyone was glued to their TVs whenever they played. Larry & Magic were co-captains. Last time either of them played. I watch the documentary often and still get chills just like did watching as it happened. Great documentary
You have got to check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. 11 future Hall of Famers! Larry & Magic were co-captains. Some of the most beautiful basketball you’ve ever seen. Whenever they played, everyone was glued to their TVs. It was a surreal time. Last time Magic & Larry played. I watched the documentary of often still gives me chills, just like it did when I first saw it ‘92. Would love to see your reaction to it 😊
Let’s NOT forget that Larry was essentially a walking cripple while he was doing all of this BAD back thrashed Achilles tendons bone spurs in his feet. The man played through pain the way we walk through a mild breeze
I grew up watching NBA from reel tapes to Beta max, to DVD, watched it live on satellite via parabolic antenna, and finally watching it live on cable TV. I have no doubt whatsoever that Larry Bird is one hell of a basketball player. For the other greats, the term legendary is used like generically. In the case of Larry, it became a brand. His brand - Larry Legend. And it is conferred to him by the other NBA players themselves, the fans and the pundits.
you said he can shoot and pass a little bit? lol actually he is the most WELL ROUNDED AND COMPLETE PLAYER IN HISTORY.. thats a fact not an opinion if we look at stats.. ONLY player in history to average FOR HIS CAREER, at least 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.. NOONE has done that for AN ENTIRE CAREER. Jokic MIGHT when his career is done.. but unlike bird, he WONT have multiple 50/40/90 seasaons.. and unlike bird he WONT average nearly 2 steals a game for his career either like Bird did. Jokic doesnt even average as many blocks as bird did per game (.8 to .7)..
I'm a former Celts season ticket holder and saw just about every game played at home and of course watched away games on tv. IMHO the highlights don't even come close to capture the abilities of this man. Oh, another thing. Because Larry didn't blow his own horn much he NEVER got the respect and acknowledgement he deserved! That's not my opinion, That sir is fact!
8:58 Bird doesn't cry for a foul, (Salley had a clean block, but the other 3 were all over him, it was the days when refs swallowed the whistle and let them play) Bird didn't stop to cry, he was already plotting how to get the steal.
Yep, pretty bad when the other team players are sitting on the bench are cheering for Larry 😂 Yes Sir, I did the exact same thing you just did when Larry put it in from behind the net and sank it!! I paused it, watched once more just to see if my eyes weren't deceiving me! Paused again after a 2nd watch, got up, left the room smh, mumbling to myself, went to the fridge got out not one brewski, but two cause I 's was gonna need them both to get through the rest of that game!! LMAO 🤣
He didn't play the entire game left-handed, he play the first three quarters of the game left-handed and got 27 points. He played right-handed for the last quarter because the score was close and got another 20 in the final quarter.
You should react to the 5 times Larry Bird was injured but refused to quit. And the 4 times Larry Bird was injured but showed male toughness. The night before the game against the Pacers Bird spent in the hospital in traction. He struggled to get dressed out for that game. Then fractured his right cheek and had a concussion but came back to dominate and win. He never took pain pills, shots or pain blockers in his entire career.
James Worthy said “Jordan made you look slow, Bird made you look stupid” - he also said he’s rather guard Jordan than to guard Bird… because with Bird you had to play as a “thinker” rather than in terms of raw athleticism “you had to get inside his mind and try to figure out how to stop him.”
@@imweakfordeaky You're right. I got my quotes confused. It was Riley who said (I hope), "If I needed someone to take a shot to win a game, I'd pick Jordan. If I needed someone to make a shot to save my life, I'd pick Bird".

Top 75? That's the biggest insult of Larry Bird I have ever heard.
It's a good thing you heard wrong because he was referring to the NBA 75 list, in which Larry is #7
All props to you young man--- but this 46 year old cat is stealin "BEHIND THE BACK CHICKEN WRAP"
😂😂😂
In 86, Celts had 3 goons. Mchale, Parish, Walton.
But, were it a tight game and we really needed a rebound,
Larry got it.
Larry, Got it.
The consummate the best all-around player and I’m a Celtics fan from 1958. Could rebound could assist could block shots could make baskets and play some tough defense and he made everybody on his team better because of his leader ship and his ability and his damn good talent, the best all-around player❤😊😊😊
The Fucking Legend
Magic and Bird were friends off the court. They played golf together. Bird stood by Magic when others wouldn’t. For the retirement ceremony, Magic wore a Celtics jersey under his jacket, he flashed it to Larry. The retirement ceremony was sold out. The Garden didn’t even have a game that night.
Top 5 - period!
Fracture of the right cheek. Dude broke his face and came back in and balled out. Today that's a concussion
The Bird vs Dominique gamee 7 shootout! Lol, it was so much fun back then.
Top 5 EASILY
Have you lost your mind??? Did you say Top 75??? GTFOH…… that man is the best small forward in NBA history and if he’s not in your top 5 you don’t know BB.
You clearly don’t know basketball. He was referring to the NBA 75 list… google it and see what number Larry comes in at 🙄
@@NancyColis LOL…… 7th??? Yeah right. Any list without Bird in the top 5 is comical.
@@regolf.d6519then you should express your thoughts directly with the NBA or maybe start with Adam Silver
I started laughing my ass off when you paused it & walked away. 😂😂😂
Crazy thing is Larry refused injections or any pain killers besides beer. 2 separate times played with broken orbit concussion. First game he saw 3 baskets shot for middle one. Against Indiana he saw only 2 baskets & had to guess which was real one. Other stories can be crazier
Bird “breakin’ ankles” out there.
Love this. Give me some white chocolate Jason Williams mix tape reaction
Would love to see your reaction to it 😊
3:08. That's Dominique who gets dropped.
Most complete player no weaknesses greatest small forward ever has the second highest win percentage of all time
Let’s NOT forget that Larry was essentially a walking cripple while he was doing all of this BAD back thrashed Achilles tendons bone spurs in his feet.
You have to do the "Larry Bird Was LEGENDARY During His Prime! 1985-86 Highlights | GOAT SZN" video, it's so full of sauce you'd love it.
that bench at 4:17 looked like when Manu dunked on Yao Ming at Houston
Great reaction..
Thank you!
My mom went to highschool with Bob Cousin( Celtic great/with Bill Russell)
Bird and Magic were the best back then. I loved watching them together.
React to Larry’s best passes video, you will love it young brother …..my all time starting five …..Magic,Mike,Larry,Bron & Kareem
He was so much more than a shooter! He was FEARED
you said he can shoot and pass a little bit? lol actually he is the most WELL ROUNDED AND COMPLETE PLAYER IN HISTORY.. thats a fact not an opinion if we look at stats..
You better go tell your wife you’re sorry and Bird is the GOAT
Loved watching him play
LMAO 🤣
😅
I've only seen three players make a behind the basket shot in a game in the NBA. MJ, Larry Legend and Black Mamba.
LARRY was ALL business! He wasn’t’ Playing with you or against you nah! He playjng YOU brah!
When Larry Bird signed his contract with the Celtics, he did it with his left hand (this is verified in a video). Larry Bird is ambidextrous.
That was Wilkins he dropped!
"Jordan made you look bad. Bird made you look stupid." Pat Riley (I think).
