Anyone who bikes for transportation knows that parking protected bike lanes work, but we keep building weird stuff that doesn't. Every single shot in this video shows plenty of curbside car storage blocking a lane of traffic in each direction. In fact, it looks like no parking has been lost. Yet people go on camera in front of all the parking to complain about.....parking.
Have you been on this stretch of Valencia since this middle bike lane has been installed? Most if not all is restricted to deliveries or 5 minute parking for pickups. They have pretty much removed parking for anyone who want to dine or shop at the stores. This is what the restauranteurs and shop owners are talking about.
@@jendesimone9053 Usually >90-95% of customers arrive by foot, bike or transit in a streets like this. Shop owners grossly overestimate how many customers come by car. After installing bike lanes retail usually have considerably more customers and turnover, than before ! (That happens everywhere: NYC, Madrid, Montreal, SF ). Who do park their car (most of the car) are the shop owners, who live elsewhere ! Shopowners do not complain that much for customer access, but for their own right to park. (SF could designet parking places in nearby street for staff if necessary ..) That said this bike lane is total crap ! A bike lane should be made along the footwalks. Possible protected by a parked car strip or something else ...
Why don’t they put the bike lane on south van ness. It’s a wider street and just as flat. Or better yet Folsom st. , very few store front businesses to effect. No brained.
They should just remove it. The city doesn’t even benefit from bicyclists as for vehicles there’s a lot of money coming there way! Gas, Fastrak,Parking tickets etc!

@@TheBieberbe1iber Sorry, but you don't know what you are talking about.

GET RID OF IT!
another reason I don't go to SF
easy fix! just replace it with round abouts. or a raised overhead platform.
A classic don't fix what's not broken

Can I get a source on those claims
I give the SFMTA credit for trying. Creating a way for streets to handle bikes, scooters, e-bikes, cars, pedestrians ain't easy.
Now it’s time to redesign the bike lane. It’s a bad design to begin with
how did we get to the point where bike lanes are bigger than car lanes
Clown World.
Bike lanes are a waste of money…ask San Diegans how it’s working😂
Pretty much every study ever done on bike lanes shows the opposite.
