The 150 gy6 is capable of alot more then this. My son's does 41 mph on 22 inch tires. It's a 2007 peace industry's, same as Tao and Gio. Came with 19 inch tires and was all low end now it's a bit more balanced with 22 inch tires. On the original tires and pz24 carb it only did 31.
I think you are right. the big issue with mine is the gear range. I want to keep the low end but be able to go 40mph sometimes. I don't think there is a clutch kit or arrangement that can do this
@@johnironsmith4402 You are correct. The cvt clutch is a pain. You are forced to sacrifice low end for high and vice versa. I see a lot of the gy6 style atvs for sale and pretty much everyone lies about how fast they are to make a sale. On a scooter it will do 50 but not get there very fast. I have yet to get one that goes over 35mph and I have owned maybe 6-8 of them and not one will do over 35 on stock tires. Bigger tires helps but you loose the torque that makes it fun. I found that replacing the carb with a Nibbi set up and the correct throttle cable is a huge improvement on throttle response and low end power. Also very easy to tune and eliminates carb issues. Just be sure not to go to big on the tires.
Get a pwk 26mm carb+intake manifold and UNI filter plus delete EGR and catalytic converter and throw in a high lift cam all can be done for $100 more and you’ll gain 10+mph
I bought a new coolster 150cc and all I’ve done so far is upgrade the electrical, top speed is 43. Gonna do a big bore kit hoping to get about 50mph
What are you gonna bore it to?
