That is the kind of humour i love the most. The fact the antagonist is the one to be chased and the second after, the roles have been inverted.
Scenes like this tell a story on their own, and that's a great use of this trope.
It's classic gag and because The Cuphead Show! so much uses old-timey cartoon physics and humor it is definitely used.

I love how the devil has an angry face, only to immediately freak out as he nearly gets sniped by a fire blast.
Usually the Devil in Cuphead is pretty even tempered. It takes a lot to get him mad and shown here, that's something you really don't want.

This episode was just one big, fat, Humiliation Conga line for The Devil. Sure he got a bone thrown his way getting his pitchfork back, but he still didn’t get the souls of Cuphead and Mugman, and on top of all this and that, he lost his bet with Henchman who got an all-expense paid vacation to a destination of his choosing.

I feel bad for the devil especially how this season he is at his lowest points where everything he loved is destoried. He is constantly being hounded even though he is trying his best. Finally when he gets a win it blows up in his face a second later becuase of some nonsense like give the devil a win here. Have the win last permanently and have it change Cuphead as a character because he hasn't changed where I get it. It's a kids show but have some development for character where the devil is driving to brink of insanity.

Can't have him winning since he literally torturers so many other things, it is satisfying for parents and children to see an evil character get hurt as how he hurts others.
