Hi, just ordered a 1299S due at start of May, only had test bike for an hour so not much experience riding one so far, first impressions after my 996, I was amazed how smooth and refined and easier it was to ride. Great bike be safe.
20,000 Miles on my 1199 Panigale S "commuter." Solid throughout. BTW safety wire or ziptie your rear wheel nut retaining clips....both sides. When washing / rain, put aluminum foil tape over the yoke ring nut so water and rain doesn't infiltrate the steering head...rebuilt mine at 18K. Look for oil leaks near every service interval. Enjoy the greatest bike on two wheels.
Test drove the 959 couple a days ago and I was amazed ! So light easy to turn and small feeling. Alot of punch too... So no question I am definitely going for the 1299, can't replace displacement. Thanks for this vid, helped me make up my mind. Thank you for the CAN error too... good to look out for. Can't wait !!
Hey mate, great choice. I have a 2015 1299S used on street and 4 times on racetrack. You may consider a 38 teeth rear wheel ratio instead of the 39 teeth which makes the 2nd gear too short. To ride on the race track you must set TC level 4 or less and the anti wheelie to 4 or 3, otherwise the monster is not coming fast enough out of the corners. I have put on the Akrapovic w/o cat and set up the Ducati mapping that comes with it... I can't tell you what happens then... it's "different" :-) Cheers Manu
+RajDave Dhaliwal I had an 899 and loved it. Unfortunately technical gremlins meant it went back and I've plumped for the 1299 as a replacement. Couldn't be happier.
Commuting on the 1299 isn't daft, i heard it is very comfortable actually. More comfortable than alot of the competition. Its like they took all the good and the bad in the 1199 made it all good.
By far Best Review on TH-cam! Thank you for the effort in putting together a great video.. Im in the market to get a Panigale or an s1000 as a daily/commuter. and I cant seem to decide Ive been riding my uncles 1199 all week. and im really disappointed in the low end mph and how jerky it can get riding around under 50mph. any improvements on the 1299? more stable acceleration? Would panigale spacers help this problem? What about leg room? im 6'3 and it felt fine on stock rearsets but we installed the rizomas and i started o feel slightly cramped. Im not sure if it was because I rode it for a longer peroid that day or if it actually was the rearsets that affected it. do you notice a leg room difference from the 899 to the 1299? s1000 seems like the better commute bike but it lacks the soul of the Ducati and its Ltwin. can anyone help with any of these questions?
I've come into some unexpected money and could get a new V4S but at 12 thousand less for a 1299s with more than I have skills to match it seems like a no brainer, it could just be the heat issues for me if I have to minimise as much as possible for the summers I have in Australia.
Such a great review. I rode a 916 as a commuter bike for 10 years, but sold it when life intervened. Always planned on getting a 998 after my kids grew up, but the Panigale is such a better bike. You've all but convinced me to get the 1299 over the 959. I'm curios if you think the 'S' model active suspension is worth the cost? Great review. Thanks.
Hi Ray, it's 1299S is something I talk about in the video I'm working on at the minute. Personally if cost is no issue at all go for it. However, £4500 is a lot of money for elec suspension, lighter wheels, full LED lights and some carbon in my opinion. I know the resale value on the S is probably higher but for me that £4500 is money better saved or spent on a track bike. I rode the S daily for a few weeks and I found the difference in feel and performance between the S and the base 1299, almost non-existent on the road. I have no doubt on track the S comes into it's own. On the road I found the base easier to get into and out of a corner. The S always seemed to run wide out of corners. I now know this is down to how the electronic suspension works and can be changed. On my base I can change settings manually in 90 seconds. The S took me about 20 minutes. Obviously once you have your settings set its quicker to flick between them.
Thanks Belter. You've confirmed what I've read in most of the articles... I like the idea of using the additional funds for a track bike, but the Akrapovic exhaust is calling me like a siren... Cheers.
I like your video bro. cuz you telling the truth about the error on this bike.. I own 1199 tricolore I also have same issue as you.. but I still like my bike and I love ducati :-)
+Tanishk Yadav I didn't I got them done by a company called Empire Graphics in Manchester. He created and fitted them from my design. Takes about a day to do whole bike. I can find out if he posts overseas. Thanks for subscribing.
How were the first 600 miles prior to the first service ? Mine seems a bit rough and less power than I expected , but then again it only has 150 miles so far
Hey man I understand what you mean but in the UK the heat is definitely an advantage as we never get warm enough weather for it to bake you. USandA, Australia or anywhere that it gets over 20 degrees then yeah I imagine it will make you sweat.
as a new rider with previous biking experience would I'd to transition from a beginner bike 300cc to the Ducati safely after riding for a solid 12 months and a minimum of 3hrs daily riding? its my dream bike. I'm 6 foot tall so will it be comfortable? and is it less like as a commuter bike, you have a beautiful bike their be safe and thanx
Hi Mark, the bike will only go as fast as you want it. If you have and can exercise restraint and sensibility with the throttle then there is no reason why you couldn't ride one. It will be comfortable I reckon for you too at 6 foot. Definitely test ride one to see what you think.
+L47B747W It depends on your ability but it is definitely easier to ride than an 1199 Panigale. The S1000RR has good road manners but I found it a bit boring to ride compared to the Panigale.
Not at all. I'm covering that in next 1299 video. Should be up soon. Once setup for the road with base you are flying. Ridden both and hand on heart £4500 is a lot of dough for a difference you can't feel too much on the road.
hi have you got any engine stall issues I got monster 1200r I got stalling issues when I pull the clutch also my neutral shown as 1 gear on the screen. it's a bit disappointing brand new bike. hope yours is fine I think to get pinegale as well
Hey mate no I didn't have any issues like that. It could be a faulty gear position sensor or simply moisture on the gear position sensor causing it. That engine can be hard to get into N for the first few hundred miles but does loosen up considerably. Talk to your dealer would be my advice.
Hey man. In my opinion no. I've commented a few times below about different reasons why and cover it in my next video. In a nutshell. Keep your $5k and buy a sorted 675 Daytona trackbike. However, if you are made of money and won't notice the difference in your bank account go for it.
Rest of bike is completely different to the R except the number board and corse stickers. Wasn't trying to make it look like an R... Apart from the number board and corse sticker of course.
Californians complain about the engine heat, here in Wales it's most often a bonus. But really though, the combination of rain and road salt will eat your bike like Alien blood. Wouldn't it be better to use something like a ten year Bandit for the winter, just to keep the bike special? As much as you try to keep on top of it, the salt will get in places you can't even see.
It definitely would be sensible to run a winter hack. Have an 89 GSX600F but just never got round to getting everything done to it for tax and mot. I'm a one pair of shoes kind of guy. I like to buy things and use them and whilst I understand owners wanting to keep their main bike pristine. I'm not worried about wear and tear and corrosion so much. I want to see how the bike withstands it given a decent amount of care and attention. Plus I don't feel I could justify the outlay on a 1299 if I was only doing 1500-2000 miles a year on it.
Belter Man, you're a rare one, in the best possible way. I had a Suzuki tea pot, I loved the thing. There's something about a bike that gets you home. You will build a relationship with your Panigale like very few will. I envy you for that. I don't envy the cleaning though. All the best, bruv.

you sir have inspired me into getting a 1299 panigale. good and honest review.
Good man you won't regret it at all!
Kennedy Miriti You get it yet?
Thanks, look forward to seeing more! I pick mine up at the end of May :)

Absolutely brilliant review, this is the standard all reviews should be measured on. Please do some more reviews, thanks.
You should really make more vids
Cheers, great vid, I will be getting mine in spring, keep the vids coming advice and info always welcome
Brilliant review; good job 👍 you may have just persuaded me to get this over the S1000R 🏍💨💨
Would love to see more ride reviews, especially on Bimotas and other Italian bikes. Great vid, Cheers.

Subbed, you videos are great quality with real world, real rider info keep it up
Excellent commentary! Glad to hear you're enjoying the 1299 after the 899. My 899 has been too good to me, so she stays :)

Would love to hear your opinion on the 2016 X diavel Fantastic output from your channel.

Great channel! Subscribed!
Great video thanks!
Brilliant job with the stickers! The ones on front, back and tank + DUCATICORSE. What company? Thank you......
Beautiful bike, ride safe

Great Video! Subscribed.. Did you get the Ducati Corse Sticker (on the fairing) from Ducati itself?
+Tanishk Yadav I didn't I got them done by a company called Empire Graphics in Manchester. He created and fitted them from my design. Takes about a day to do whole bike. I can find out if he posts overseas. Thanks for subscribing.
ive just traded my 899 for a 1299.. cant wait! by any chance are you from northern ireland?
Nice vid!
I'm 6 '3" 255 I love the 1299 do you think I can use it as my daily commute
The 959 is probably better for winter because it comes standard with central heating.
How is the acceleration? How mental is it? And does this bike have that deep roar when you get into it.
How were the first 600 miles prior to the first service ? Mine seems a bit rough and less power than I expected , but then again it only has 150 miles so far
Hi Love the vid
Ive a deposit on a 1299s atm
Your sticker kit- hard to apply and where did you gvet it
Thanks
love it! i have a 899 and am thinking of a 1299, does it produce more heat then your old 899?
Not at all probably exactly the same to be honest. I don't notice it.
So the standard model comes with the auto blipper now? Or are you talking about quick shift?
+brandon schneider All 1299 models have quickshift up and autoblipper fitted as standard.
Hey you did'nt mention the bike trying to BAKE or BURN you alive like mine tried to... : 0 / The auto blipper was the bomb....
Hey man I understand what you mean but in the UK the heat is definitely an advantage as we never get warm enough weather for it to bake you. USandA, Australia or anywhere that it gets over 20 degrees then yeah I imagine it will make you sweat.

And now I have a 1299 S.
how is the riding postion on this bike? how tall are you also?
Hello, excuse-me sir, but how hard is it to ride this bike ? especially in comparison to the s1000rr, thx !
+L47B747W It depends on your ability but it is definitely easier to ride than an 1199 Panigale. The S1000RR has good road manners but I found it a bit boring to ride compared to the Panigale.
Is this the R version?
whats the song?
full circle by george fitzgerald. Seems to be an instrumental version which I can't find.
looking at getting one, is it a big deal not having the auto suspension that the S has ?
Not at all. I'm covering that in next 1299 video. Should be up soon. Once setup for the road with base you are flying. Ridden both and hand on heart £4500 is a lot of dough for a difference you can't feel too much on the road.
Unless of course you have managed to bag a 1299S Anniversario! It's a bike I'd pay for over the base.
Daddy wants but can't afford it so will have to stick with my busa for a while.
hi have you got any engine stall issues I got monster 1200r I got stalling issues when I pull the clutch also my neutral shown as 1 gear on the screen. it's a bit disappointing brand new bike. hope yours is fine I think to get pinegale as well

Belter hi bro...is the 1299 panigale and the 1299 panigale s are the same performance and speed?
Luven Thiran yes same power
LonDuc but then why the panigale s model so much expensive than the normal one
Luven Thiran has active suspension forged wheel carbon fenders for full spec ducati website will give you better information
Is the 1299s worth the extra $5k over the base 1299??
Hey man. In my opinion no. I've commented a few times below about different reasons why and cover it in my next video. In a nutshell. Keep your $5k and buy a sorted 675 Daytona trackbike. However, if you are made of money and won't notice the difference in your bank account go for it.
Has she been around a track yet
Ginger Crusader sure has gave her a wee tickle around Oulton and Silverstone.
👍
Aprilia.
pity the R paint job was copied, its like sticking a M3 badge on a 318.
Rest of bike is completely different to the R except the number board and corse stickers. Wasn't trying to make it look like an R... Apart from the number board and corse sticker of course.
+Belter well for someone who was trying to not make it look like an R you did a good job, the white on the tank is even the same.
