Thank you for this video. Out of curiosity, if you were to compare the Telefunken M80 to the Shure SM7B, which would you choose if one's primary usage is podcasting and single keyboard recording? Also, do you have a favorite desktop microphone stand with either product?
Thanks for good comparison. I’m a bit confused with how to assign mic for vocalists, since either way you will end up tweaking eq. For example, I understand that M81 has more boost on high freq, so is this the best mic for high tenor voices guys like Journey, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake etc? To “boost” of their highs even more? or is it best to rather go with M80, to “tame” their highs?

The M81 takes the sharpness off the guitar, but on the snare bits it's almost as if there's a blanket over something. Interesting video, thanks!

Trying to figure out why you compared these to the 58 and not the beta…which would’ve been a far closer comparison.
My thoughts exactly.
Probably cuz it’s the more common mic. And it was the exact video I was looking for coming from an SM58. 🤘🏼✌🏼

Surprised how similar the M80 and M81 sound on guitar to my ear, compared to the *very* easily noticeable differences on vocals.
M80 is the obvious choice for snare but I like the darkness of the M81 for guitar
