You are so far the best beginner guide I've come àcross. Thank you so much. I've learned from your tutorial in 10 minutes, what I've tried to understand in months. Again thank you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ You're a great instructor!!!
@canva You need to sponsor this lady!! The beginner tutorial on your app is trash- nonsensical, frustrating and uninteractive. If it weren't for actually educational videos like this i would be moving to a different editor. I came here from your app
I am so so grateful for you!!! I am a 60's child and grew up on a farm, followed by raising my 4 children so I am a great gardener, chef, mama, and healer due to my obsession with herbal healing; but technology gives me serious anxiety lol. I have been searching for days to try to find that ONE sweet teacher who would explain it and make it easy to follow and understand. I literally learned more in this one tutorial than I have learned in the past 7 months. I'm a fan, and a new subscriber now. Blessings and Thank You ;)
Thanks Kate for the tutorial! On alignment: if you keep pressed the Shift key while moving any object - at least with texts and images worked for me - it can maintain/lock orthogonality as in Revit. It came quite handy to me when wanting to keep objects properly aligned. Hope this helps guys, you can do it🙂👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much. You paced that well, not too fast, and gave a lot of basic info and explanations. I'm a 68 year old senior who needs to learn to use this for work, and have saved this video to watch again a 2nd (and maybe 3rd) time. I might even be able to play around with it to use it on a Facebook page on which I am an Admin.
WOW! Brilliant tutorial, thank you Kate! Easy to follow, fast pace. I am very new to Canva (not computers) and this was so helpful. Going to look at some more of your tutorials as I am wanting to create a family tree poster using a Canva template I have found. 🤩
So glad you enjoyed it! Definitely watch the digital product masterclass (linked in the video description)- it’s a great way to learn about the course!
This video is incredibly helpful, and I’m so glad I came across it. I’ve tried learning Canva before, but no one has ever made it this easy. Thank you so much ❤️
I've tried several Canva tutorials since learning about Canva and yours is the easiest to follow. I am going to go through this video again and take notes. I expect I'll be signing up for your course for further insight.
Hi Kate, stumbled upon your video while browsing literally at the moment. I got interested as you are concise and able to provide easy to grasp explanation. I have tried canva before, however, cease using it as I am unable to understand the process. I am going to watch more of your videos, moving forward. Thank you for sharing.
Woooo - Hoooo This is the TUTORIAL I was looking for soooo desperately... LOL. Now, can you, PLEASE, show me how save the "Mockup" of a design on Etsy, and Printify....PLEASE!
Thank you. This was very helpful. I'd been trying to figure out frames for months. I didn't know how to use them before now, AND I didn't know I could change the quality when I saved, so thanks again.
Thankyou!!! I especially appreciate the speed at which you moved through your presentation. You did not move too fast but at speed which enabled me to follow you easily. I am going to be using Canva to create Instagram posts for my audience of construction contractors. Each post will include a photo and a mini-article of 100 to 200 words. My model for that sort of post is the Journal of Light Construction. Your tutorial is going to enable me to create photos for the posts. I am hopeful that I can just add the mini articles using Instagram captions. for longer text is not something. you go into. If you care to let me know in a reply whether I am on the right track, I would appreciate that.
Hello Kate. The reason this tutorial is to fast is because she has to edit to have the video just for 20 minutes. There is no pauses. Mi recommendation is to listen several times, I did that and worked for me. Thanks you for your efforts and work in pauses. Thanks a lot
This is fantastic, as you have explained it so well. Also, this isn't too long, so that while I am now trying to learn how to use Canva, I can keep referring back to your video here, and it won't take too long to get to what I want to refresh about. Thank you so much. New subscriber here.
Great class! What I also noticed that your voice was a continuous sound - no breaks for breath intakes or pauses with ums or hesitations. Are you naturally a speaker like this, or do you record in bits and bring together. It was a neat style. Thank you!
THANK YOU!!! I've just got my 30 Canva trial & tried one small photo & I failed terribly. I was just thinking, I'm never going to get this. I look forward to seeing what else you have.
Gonna be assistant teaching a little class on video production--the teacher's the real pro but I'm watching this so I can be a bit more knowledgable on the software. Nice little tutorial, program seems really accessible, thanks 👍👍
Hi friend! The course is available now :) If you’re interested, I also have a free digital products masterclass that will unlock 40% off course enrollment! You can watch that here: www.kate-hayes.com/dppreg
Great video....I learned some new intresting tricks for canva thanks to your how to video. U spoke in plain english which made things easy to understand.
Thank you for replying to my comment. Question, I am having a lot of difficulty with creating a simple TH-cam banner, and getting it uploaded to my music channel. I’m using canva pro, on desktop, iPad and iPhone, and I keep getting different results. Basically, nothing fits , I use the recommended aspect for png, however, my banner image doesn’t fit or I get a error message saying “ this image needs to be 1024x548, something like that. Everyone says creating thumbnails and banners for TH-cam is easy, but every body’s tutorials are different. As I said in the beginning, I mainly use iPad or desktop. Can u offer some advice???
I thought that was really helpful and you explained it very clearly as I’m a beginner and I thought it was really easy to follow. Thank you so much for making this!
A true beginner....I followed your example and now wanted to delete the test project and easily managed to delete the shape and photo but not the project. I am already stuck with an insta post and no way out. 😅
Can you do a video about trademarks and how to avoid them because most of them are so ridiculous that people have no ideia that they are trademarks! Thank you 😊
That’s a great idea! Dealing with trademarks and copyrights can definitely be confusing. Something I’m actually addressing in my free live training class coming up next week! Link is in the description if you’d like to join in! :)
I really like the visuals and while I’ve been online for a bit and familiar with virtual learning, I do agree with a few on how the pace you are sharing at is a bit faster than a beginner tutorial would be for those first becoming familiar with the canvas product, especially those with a kinesthetic learning style as their dominant - in which things are absorbed aka hands on vs visual or audio dominant. I did start and stop the video to write down the steps, but wanted to offer feedback on the variables of learning styles for future reference since you are sharing about offering a tutorial.
Canva is undeniably the go-to choice for beginners and those looking for an intuitive design tool. Have you had the chance to explore alternative design tools apart from Canva?
We have but we just love Canva so much. We won’t rule out exploring some other design tools on our TH-cam channel (and have a bit) but for now Canva is our main focus when creating digital products.

Aww thank you so much for the kind words! So so happy to help! 😊😊
I’m so glad that this is a video that you can go back and rewind. For the people who are saying she’s moving too fast. Go back and watch it again.
Thanks for watching friend 😊
You've covered it all to a tee! Thanks for empowering more people to design, Kate. Sending you lots of #CanvaLove! 😍 ^nm
Aww thanks, @Canva!! Thank YOU for creating such a wonderful platform for us to design on! 🥰🤗
