PORSCHE PANAMERA KEY PROGRAMMING KILLS BODY CONTROL MODULE / HOW TO FIX

- In today's video we add a key to a 2013 Porsche Panamera 4 using the Xhorse Solderless welding free adapter with the VVDI Prog and the Autel IM508. This procedure requires the removal of the BCM or Body Control Module and using specialized equipment to read the D Flash data of the microprocessor to generate a dealer key. The process is very risky and proved to almost be catastrophic in this case. Luckily I was able to restore the BCM after the VVDI Prog adapter corrupted it during the read process.

Holy smokes. The amount of experience you have for this type of repair must be extensive. I would have crapped my pants if I had bricked the BCM. Nice work as usual and I enjoyed the video very much.
a back up of the data was the saving grace
Fantastic vid! Your skills are top-shelf!!! God bless!
Thank you again! I truly appreciate it.
I'm an automotive locksmith. This video makes me even more sure why I turn these down. The issue for me is I would have to charge so much for this I'm thinking $800-$1000 but if I bricked the BCM and couldn't get it going this job would cost me $1000's so the juice isn't worth the squeeze to me.
I can also solder well but still. Those pins on the X-horse board I am assuming they are spring loaded? Those are called pogo pins. Most bin readers have an option to read and verify in one go. Does yours have that instead of reading twice and compare? It's also nuts that just reading the chip bricked it. I'm glad you were able to reload the file but for me the risk just isn't worth it. I also have a 508. We also have a 608 and by far the best is the Smart Pro's. We have a couple of those as well.
We do all the bread and butter stuff. Domestics and Asians. We do some Euro too but not many. When we have to pull half the car apart we decline them. We will pull an instrument cluster and an easy to get to BCM/ECM but stuff like this I will leave them all to you. lol I am actually local to Super Mario. I send customers his way.
How you can be an true automotive locksmith if you don’t do any complicated jobs. How do you deal with cars with aftermarket alarms then? I think the life of an auto locksmith is to be better than any dealership and do all the work for reasonable prices. But for this you need to study and work hard, but not everyone wants to, that’s the point.
@@Ilya-ry3kp I've been doing this along time. I carried every ignition switch every keying kit. I did it all. We run 80-150 calls per week. Shocker I do this to make a living not to impress TH-cam commenters. We are very busy. We can make more money doing 3 easy jobs than 1 long hassle of a job. There are other guys that do them. They have shops and want those big jobs towed into them. We are strictly mobile. I'm not having my guys spend 3-4 hours in a parking lot taking half the car apart. We evolved and do 2 things. Lockouts and lost keys only. We don't go out on duplicates because I would charge them the same price as a lost key. I tell them to drive it to a brick and mortar locksmith. We have some shop accounts. On those we will do more complicated keys and fobs. If you think I'm a fake automotive locksmith so be it. We don't Lishi either. We call either a code service or use our NASTF account. I take quick money jobs. We do great work, provide a warranty and use mostly OEM, OEM refurbs or Ilco's. We do not use cheap fobs. We never have callbacks. We are also on the more expensive side. I'm not afraid to charge for our services. Our cheapest lost key is $250. If they don't want it someone else does.
As far as your dealer comment. We come out to them. They don't need it towed. We are usually cheaper than the dealer but sometimes not. The dealer isn't my competition. I don't have competition as far as I'm concerned. Not many people are set up for what we do and can handle the volume.
@Ilya-ry3kp not everyone has the time to spend 2 hours on a car. I know I don't my 10 to 12 hour days would be 14 plus. I'm also not just an auto locksmith
@@Ilya-ry3kpit’s called liability buddy. If something unfortunate happen like he damaged or fried the bcm it could cost thousands all for a few hundred bucks is not worth the headache
This stuff is WAY over my head. Thank you for this video. I can only imagine how long it took to record this video. Great Job Eric.
Back in the day we used to just go to the local K-Mart, give them 98 cents and walk out with a new key. Now look at everything needed for a spare key.
Now fools put their credit card in a machine that now has an image of the key, and your address thanks to the card, and can make lots more of them for sale on the dark web.
trouble was even the thieves could do the same
they are too cheap to buy it from the dealer. they wanted a porsche but do not want to pay the fee of ownership.
@@Billy-rr7re Since there is a Bentley in the driveway too, I don't think money was an issue. Maybe he just wanted a buddy to help out?
Some might even call that smart with their money instead of giving it away to a stealership.
That's a heck of a process just to add and program a second key.
Probably the stealership has a tool that does it more easily, but they charge non sense money after that.
He could have avoided it by paying the dealer for a dealer key. I think it would be close to just buying another car though.
good job he had a back up of the file
I don't think I'm smart enough to own, drive, or repair a car like this one. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Great save, Eric.
I think it's pretty funny how our friends/customers can sometimes be more confident in our 'magician' abilities than we are ourselves, luckily this time your friend was in very good hands🤣👍
Just the video I needed! You gave some amazing angles to help take out the bcm.
Thank for making this video.
The other module is the TCM transmission controle module.
Wow, all that for a new key. I weep for the future!
Meanwhile a car thief is allowed to use a UBS stick to start the damn cars.
Mercedes is coming out with a new car that doesn't allow you to open the hood.
How's that for the future?
With background in programming, this is all like I'm home with Eric, hopefully I can get to meet you thank you personally for showing what you've learned.
The R270 wipes the data from the immo chip aswell, trouble is you cant write it back, nice to know the xhorse does it aswell before shelling out for it, good video.
Thanks for the info!
Wow all that for a key ,And the risk of bricking it . Great Job and recovery.Cheers from Australia
its the chinese xhorse shite by the sound and of it
I looked at ACDP they have a adapter and add the key to the bcm
Restoring the bcm should be its own video.
I passed on one of these today. If I took it I was going to use the adapter.
Nice job
In this case, the solder less adapter route has its risks. Plenty of other tools that can do this job. Some don't require cutting traces or removing components. Otherwise, def one the best video presentations out there! Great camera shots in tight spaces!
This was quite a bit suspenseful. Great job Eric.
You deserve an academy award for that job Eric. At the very least. I think technicians like yourself should be charging high fees for your skills, considering the knowledge and equipment required. They're seems to be a lot that can go wrong with this specialized type of work, and just removing things like modules buried behind the dash can be a nightmare. And don't forget, whilst your trying to learn the game, your bound to blow up or damage stuff on occasion. I'm sure that would have cost a fortune if the Porsche stealership had done the job.
Yeah, it can be a real headache, but that's the fun part, right?
Superb video, this is the only video I saw how to partition the mcu after a corruption
Good job. Balls of steel my friend. Balls of steel.
That is totally insane. Congratulations on making that work
Well that was intense Eric.
Wow, that’s a lot of work to add keys. Good job and great informative video
Really good and really convoluted at the same time!
Wow you answered my questions after watching your video. I didnt want to buy keytool max pad too expensive. Might get the Xhorse VVDI mini prog and transfer the data like you did. I was worried at first.
That’s nice way to figure out the torx size😊
That's an honest days work. Nice job man!
Great work BRO👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What a wonderful job
I made a Porsche Cayenne 2014. The adapter read only ffffff and I can’t unlock the chip. I tried strong unlocking and everything I did but nothing worked! Then I unsoldered it, cut the track, soldered the wires and everything read without problems! Now I don’t use This adapter, and I solder everything.
All that for a key. Great video
Dude! Amazing vídeo. I'm from Brazil. YOU MUST HAVE to start to think on make a real training using your expertise. Congrats for all the info that You'd share with us! Hope We can a couple of those fixes together some time.
Thanks for all vidéos ❤
Great job man.
Thats for making informative video on adding a key. Im glad you dodge the bullet on this one! How would you have recover BCM if lets the info didnt save and it bricked ?
Great video. Do you know how to recover a bricked pcm from bmw
Do you think it would have deleted the data if you had done the solder method and removed the crystal?
You are the man!
Wow. This is cool and at the same time scary.
Hey great video thanks 🙏🏻
Wanted to ask you how did you open the Autel on the computer I didn’t know there is option for this? I’ve been using it for years
I usually just email the file to myself and download it from the Autel email app
major respect for showing the whole process, no cuts, what truck do you use for work ? im starting and i work from my mk5 golf lol
also whats that green machine near the pittsburgh tool case ? smoke generator ?
I was working out of my 2008 Ford explorer but I recently upgraded to a 2018 Ford Transit van. Yes, it’s a smoke machine.
Nice car but very expensive to repair. Even in the UK. How much did they save not taking it to the dealer?
Great job man!!! 👏👏👏
Good job! Thank you for sharing.
I wonder if using the intended tool for the adapter (KTP or Mini Prog) would ended bricked too.
Nice stuff,great work
Awesome vid. Thanks!
How to recover epprom to bcm? Thanks bro
Could you explain a little more about how I recover the dflash file that was corrupted when reading? I didn't understand that part.
Did you solved any news
I have backups but no light on dash. How to repair it mate?
GREAT MAN ❤
Holy Crap , we have met the enemy and he is us !
If you had the bcm reprogrammed, how did you get the original keys to stay programmed? Also if you got ODIS for the reprogramming, why not just order a dealer key and do it through ODIS?
Super job,,, So was removing the BCM the only way to duplicate the key? On this model?
Not if you buy a key from the Porsche dealer. They come precoded for the vehicle.
Good job brother
Can you just clone instead of adding a key? I’m trying to do my sons 2017 Audi a4 so I thought maybe cloning is easier.
Dang. I scrap old computers and servers and usually save the cables in a couple of totes until I get enough cables to make it worthwhile taking the cables to the scrap yard. I probably have 1 or more of those DB25 to DB15 Adapter Cables out there somewhere. Longer than that little shorty you got from China but hey, if it works, it works. Great thinking on how to transfer the BIN file from your laptop to the IM508. I don't own the Autel IM508 but I assume there's no USB connection?
great video
I posted this comment on one of your other videos sorry but I’m
Having the same problem my Chevy Malibu starts when it wants to start can you help me out I spent 350 at mechanic shop they said it was battery can you give me some ideas why it starts when it wants to start???
Is the dealer charging that much for duplicating a key ?
What city do you work in?
Very smart
Genius
Great Video
What school did you go to? You should highly recommend them. Amazing stuff but I definitely would have said no to that job.
Thanks!
The 4 means it's awd
super 👌 👌
Nice
So all that,,,,, ALL THAT,,, that whole procedure,,, is more cost effective-cheaper than a Porsche dealer programming a legit Porsche key ????
I'm fairly certain the dealers order the keys programmed from Germany. Every dealer down in So. Fl does that. They tell the customer it takes 5 days or something close to that.
@@scotts4125 Wow
As my Indian friend would say....Sioux Sioux Sioux
Ok ✅
Great
Of course thanks to no encryption, by emailing the BCM code, the NSA, and through them everyone on the planet now has the file if they want it. So anyone can make another dealer key for that car.
It says mental oscillator on that adapter's program🤣 that is a red flag right there
Now i understand why these cars aren't stolen. 😅
Vvdi2 bricks it frequently, autel even more.
Hm, what do you use? I just did one with vvdi. Cut pad and removed components. Went well.
@charles979 acdp, vvdi, autel. Depends what car I'm working with.
@@matthewtrucker7368 so are you telling us that you use vvdi or autel on thise bcm's even though you know it likes to kill them?

Beautiful Porschaaaa. Unless you live next door to me, I wouldn’t purchase a European vehicle. The F…
I can't imagine a Porsche dealer has to go through all this to make a new key. Why not just clone the key like you can on most VWs from that era?
Dude how do you figure all this stuff out? Locksmith forums or something?
I would like to know that too😂
Digging and digging asking, forms
Look up" Andromeda automotive locksmith kit" your welcome.
@@valleyautodiagnosticslook up Andromeda automotive locksmith kit.good luck
Using his brain, thinking and learning
You forgot to hide wipe the VIN number check at 17:34 minutes lol
I can't believe people still call this guy
Why?? He seems very knowledgeable to me, and I'm a automotive locksmith and immobilizer specialist for over 25 years.
i would not even attempt this, i would get the customer to order the key from main stealer
Is there no jtag points on that board
yanuha acdp reads the bcm and write a key in 1 touch, put back the bcm and car starts no need to learn the key obd, and 99% success rate i did hundreds never had bcm problems, you wasting too much time the way you doing it.
As easy as that. 😂. Yea, right. Wow.
so they buy a porsche then do not want to pay the dealer for the privilege by buying a key from them.
Maybe the PORSCHE Numbos should have located the boxes on the other side?
Avoid. Do not buy the VAG Gestapo junk....

Germans 🤦🏾♂️
lol porsche, manually patched pcb what a shame
The 4 means it AWD.
Good job done!
My 66 Chevelle was a lot easier to work on....
Don't apologize to uptight people who like to correct how to say Porsche. They are losers with no life.
Sorry sir can u teach m your skill i am Auto and diesel Engineer
how much does sit cost for reprogam a key in porche
