Best of luck to you! You are young. May sound early, but start preparing now physically. Trust me. Mainly with running. Get in good habits now. Where I’m from you can take the exam when you are 17, so you got a few more years. Then you can get hired at 21. Good habits and stay away from trouble!
I’m 12 and my hearts set on it so I’m training now I have wanted to be a cop since I was 5 and before that i wanted to be a judge It is my dream to be a police captain or at least a sgt stay safe everyone and go for your dream!!!

Good for you, police officer jobs are very rewarding, I did 12 years (ish) military, been to 5 warzones, and worked in a federal agency for 5 years, now I just want to be home working at a local police station serving my town.

Also, throughout my time in the Army, I have found that kettlebells are an amazing investment for developing overall balance, coordination, stamina and strength. Used them training soldiers all of the time.

Hey!! your channel is growing so fast!! Went through a law enforcement academy WAY back in the day (I am from Canada). I however did not go on to be a Police officer but did become a Peace officer for my city and I mostly took care of municipal enforcement stuff. I say you are spot on with with the fitness stuff. I went to the academy thinking I was in good shape. I was VERY wrong. One thing I think is super important while in the academy is your diet. Especially on PT days and what you eat for breakfast. Anywho, Great job on the channel!! You have a natural way of captivating your audience.

Hi Stef, another good video! I saw in your previous videos that you work in NY, so I imagine you are in a town or village department that lets you get your MPTC certification by paying to go to a college academy. I think you should mention that anyone who wants to work for a County or State agency has to come off a Civil Service list, get a full background check, oral board interview, polygraph, drug testing as well as a physical agility test before attending that agency's academy as I did in New York State. The info you give in your video is great advice to anyone thinking of becoming a Police Officer anywhere! Good job and stay safe! 💙

Just came across your channel and this video especially. I just graduated from a reserve academy and will be heading into the full time academy in a few weeks. The boot shining I felt wasn't that bad. I just got into a habit of doing it at night when I was studying or I would throw on some music or tv series. Stay safe!

Its never too late, set fortnite down and join a police program that your city or town provides. Like a cadet program or something
Thanks for your service, I’m 18 and plan on becoming a cop. I have my civil service in March, bout 2 months away. I would start the academy probably around august, very bad out of shape, you think in a 6 months time frame I can be in better shape? Thank you
I start my academy next monday, Physically i’m in a decent shape i would say, and i feel it will be the most challenging for me. The academics and other things included will be easy for me on the other hand. 5 months and i will hopefully be graduating!
How is it physical wise? I feel like I'm in "okay" shape but have 4-6 more months before I'd go into the academy.

Finally, I got the green light from the FBI fingerprint check. very excited but I am out of shape. I haven't done sports in a while or ran in a very very long time. I barely started running for a couple of days now and my best time is a 17:51!!!. I'll admit it's a bad time for a 46 yr old. I was so out of breath...and to make matters worse I need to learn how to treat shin splints quickly because only 9 days away from the start of Police Academy. Shin splints can be prevented by stretching your calves and shins. Also,your stride may be too large.

I've wanted to do this since I was a freshman in highschool. I've had this burning desire to become a Law Enforcement officer.
By my senior year I was extremely fit from participating in a competitive swim team and I was exactly where I knew I wanted to stay so that when I hit 21 I could go right into my dream career. I was 18, 170 pounds, fit and healthy.
Now I'm 21. I'm nearly 280 pounds. I'm overweight, overworked and depressed.
I still want this career more than anything in the world. But addiction to food and other things have completely absorbed my life. I'm trying desperately to get myself back to a point where I can start my career. It's going to be a difficult road and I'm still motivated to try.

I would recommend a professional Police Academy that requires a Civil Service Test that has you go through a candidate background. That background will weed out candidates that can’t pass a physical agility, psychological, polygraph and medical.
I know many states differ with standards. I was able to transfer to any state on a lateral because of my certification.
The Real Academy is no joke, it prepares you for becoming a professional Police Officer.
Many of the volunteers in the Fire Department and Ambulance couldn’t pass the civil service tests. This sounds like a great alternative to move to a place that offers a school that has an open door policy if you pay to become a cop.

Once you apply get yourself physically fit if you have problems with push ups here trick they taught us do push up against wall believe it not it works I learn it in military

i had a warrant 5+ years go of marijuanna and there was a question that said "Have you done marijunana?" I had to put "yes, more then 3 months ago" because i know they'll find out later through the process, i have been 3 years clean; never again. just worried they could deny me.

Here’s a tip, when standing in line at the Academy do not wear your sunglasses 😎 while waiting! 2 instructors came by stop at me and asked me my last name! Right! Then proceed to tell me to remove my sunglasses 😎 cuz if I made it to the sign in sheet were the Lieutenant was standing, then I would have signed out! Ha... I still remember that 20+ years ago

I'm going to apply for the academy in Canada for a Sheriff and Public Safety Officer. I've been athletic my whole life but when covid hit (not an excuse really), my cardio hit the fan. I've been worried about getting it back. I'm applying for August of next year.

Great Video! I was picked up by a big city dept. It was great being paid whilst going thru. For us, we had an oral review board before anything else started. There were over 900 at the written entry exam so I knew I had to score super high. I did and then the academy started. If u take an oral interview, please don't lie about even the tiniest thing! Better to say IDK and be honest. Get caught lying and u won't be back. Stef, tell me if u think I;m right? Do you have to have the hair in a bun or can it be in a pony?

Stef, In another video about your belt setup, you mentioned that you changed from LEFT to Right handed on your holster. I'm a lefty, so I know I am more ambidextrous then others, but can you tell us more about how you just decided to switch and not feel the effect on your draw????? THX< . rockon!
Ohio academy requirements: 40 pushups in 1 minute. 33 pushups in 1 minute. 1.5 mile run in 11:58.

What state where you in for the academy. How many miles do you run per day week or on average? To be Specific to my question straight running on a track time per day, not cardio in general. Example lst thing morning run 3miles straight not timed then move on off the track runs to other training. Thank you in. Advance i haven't been able to get a straight answer on this question. Nevada maybe where I'd be going.

Well I live in Kansas and like we have officers on the street with no freaking training but I guess they really need officers I suppose we have officers on the street for like 2 years before sending them to training it's really scary.

I’m literally so scared of failing I started working out and running and going to MMA and jujitsu a year prior and I’ll be applying next year! I can run about 6 miles in half or close to an hour and I don’t know if that’s okay honestly but my stamina is so poop. I’m also trying to gain more weight in muscle because I’m so short and small in jujitsu I’m easily able to be lifted up, currently I’m 110-115 lbs and I’m 5’2
