When a buried pipe (like that of this extract or other material) has holes, is there a scenario in which soil or water surrounding the pipe could seep inside ? In fact, at my house we have water outages every week that last several hours (sometimes 6 hours, sometimes even 24 hours). During these times the pipe is empty. If there is at least one leak somewhere on the pipe, I wonder if it is possible for dirt or dirty water (during a long rain for example) to seep through. This question is motivated by the fact that in addition to the cut-off problem, we also frequently have dirty water for hours. It is true that the water distribution company sends dirty water, but I wonder if a problem at home is not contributing to this very unfortunate situation. Please enlighten me.
