That scene has led me to believe that maybe the marriage between Ellis and Tatcher could've worked and Meredith could've had a better childhood if Tatcher had stood up to Ellis, like George did. It's kinda sad.
keep in mind that dr webber said ellis was very strong willed-i think it would have taken a ton of strength to stand up to her. this is ellis with alzeimers, not at her full strength.
Dr. Webber also knew Ellis better than Thatcher did. I think even if he stood up to Ellis, her falling in love with Dr. Webber was the end of anything she felt for Thatcher. It wasn't Thatcher she was looking for, in the end, it was Richard.
I do this with my Alzheimer's or dementia patients , going into their world is sometimes more calming than trying to pull them into reality cause most of the time our reality doesn't even exist to them anymore depending on the disease stage. It's heart breaking.
Anne Ritah Kirya Exactly! I used to work at a nursing home and there was a woman with Alzheimer's who always said there was a lion in her room. She was very scared. And instead of telling her that there is no lion, I told her that it's a very nice lion that won't hurt her. That really calmed her down.
My granddad had Alzheimer’s that’s the hardest thing tbh his mom had it too. He might not have know our names but he knew we were his family. It’s hard
Exactly, my mom used to be my grandmother’s caregiver when she had alzheimer’s a couple years ago (passed in 2018) I remember my grandma started thinking it was raining inside. So I got a towel, and started drying her, another time she thought there was a man bleeding on her floor. I said i called an ambulance and we waited. Its hard seeing someone get the life sucked out of them but the best thing you can do is make them comfortable and wait for them to be put a peace.
i'm on a binge of old GA episodes and Karev makes SO MUCH more sense in this scene! HE KNOWS HOW TO TALK TO ELLIS BECAUSE HIS MOM HAS SCHIZOPHRENIA!!!!! 😱
I kinda like the idea that Ellis loves thatcher at one point I mean she married him and HAD a child so, the last scene when Ellis kissed George just really hit she use to love this man it’s kinda cute 🤧💖😳
I can’t imagine what kind of misery Ellis and Thatcher lived through during their marriage… the scene between Ellis and George shows that maybe the marriage could’ve worked. It’s very sorrowful.
The way that Alex handled her at the start is actually very good procedure for Alzheimer's, play along to an extent and give them reasons to follow along with what you need them to do. Sometimes you just have to play pretend.
I hated the way Karev treated George I wish they wld have made it to where Karev4watever reason started treating him with much more respect like how he'd like2 b treated
@@brazyrist He was a jerk. When George ended having to repeat his internship, Alex was the one who revealed it to the new interns, for nothing but a laugh.
Why? Even if she isn’t practicing she still IS a doctor of medicine? And try to explain an alzheimer’s patient she isn’t a practicing doctor anymore, try to explain an Alzheimers patient they’re not who they currently, think they are. Definitely not the way you should handle them :)
When people get their doctorates degree, it becomes their Mr. Or Mrs./Ms., it’s what they use on legal documents and how they’re addressed. Ellis was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so her mind was going and she thought that she was still a practicing doctor, George was her husband Thatch, and Meredith was a little girl. Calling her Ms. Gray would also be disrespectful to her since she was a renowned surgeon and had pioneered a surgical technique. The hospital was named after her she’s a big deal.
Bailey was right have George as her favourite, he was lovely.
2charliep He was the good one.
anissa kawther Yep, He was so nice he saved a life knowing that he could lose his

I agree.
I agree
If he had stood his ground they will still be together .even a string willed woman want a man who can fight for her if anything happens
@@chanaberlove8720 He was a man....handle it! Period

That is heartbreaking. Thank you for taking care of such vulnerable people!

The hardest dementia patient we have thinks I'm her son...that's a plus to me because she'd never lay a hand on me and when I get serious she listens
i'm on a binge of old GA episodes and Karev makes SO MUCH more sense in this scene!

Shravya Konan I don’t think Alzheimer’s nor Schizophrenia is funny.
Oh wow that makes sense I never realized
Now if only Thatcher would have stood up for this way as well.. always hard to see patients know they're suffering
When you can't have the daughter so you settle with the mother
That was unexpectedly humorously dark
Yeah. Except George’s Facial expressions were not peaceful at all when he climbed on the bed. His face was “Why me?!”

Okay but the way Alex and George handle this 🥺. Made me so proud

George was so so pure. Why shonda
Exactly why he had to go
Nice guys finish last.
she deserved a best supporting actress award
George was just the best.
Georgeeeeeeeeeeeee I miss you so much
Aww...what a cute little scene.
This is the first time I liked Karev's character in the series...
I miss O'malley😔
Oh George! George! George!😍😘

Karev came from a tough place that was his way of showing love he cared for George just had no idea how to properly show it
Agreed. He was also so mean to him. :'(

Is it algebra?
Richard was so fine in those early eps 😍
did someone know the song when Meredith see her mother's labs results ? (sorry for my bad english)
What the hell is with the high pitch noise?!
I’m glad someone else noticed, my ears hurt!
@@PukyBear I have ears like a dog so I noticed that from the second it started
I think in this episode they should just call her ms gray not doctor
That would just be upsetting her for no reason

Was Thatcher a house dad or was he employed?
I think he was a teacher in the medical field. Could be wrong.
He was a medical researcher
Lol
