I have the '72 Reds and A's team sets raw. I had the Rose and Reggie graded. They both came back 7's, so I didn't grade the Bench, didn't think it grade higher than a 6 if that. Have a great day John.

Nice! For 72s, I'd be happy with 5s since they would be more affordable and would still have overall nice eye appeal. Although I did get my Yaz in a 7.5. 😃

      That's a good grade. @@WadeBoggsFan

Thanks! Got a pretty good deal on it as I think the half grade slipped by some watchers.

Great video, John. Thanks for all your time & efforts in putting these together. Surprised the Fisk rookie card didn't make the top 10 or rank in the top 5. Looks like collectors are still coveting Rose cards despite his lifetime ban in baseball. The in action cards make this a good set to collect.

Thanks Kevin! I’m not too surprised the Fisk rookie didn’t make the top 10. Sure it’s his rookie and he’s in the HOF, but in terms of the hobby he’s not collected that much. The other players that made the list are more in demand by collectors so it’s reflected in the prices. The In Action cards are pretty cool even if some of them aren’t necessarily the best action shots.

Great video John; I feel someone needs to do a livestream about this great set.

Thanks Mitchell! There was a channel that I think was doing reviews of different sets, but I can’t remember which one off the top of my head. I don’t think they were livestreams though.

Wow. Nolan at #1. Figured he'd be top three or four, but not the most expensive.

He’s very popular in the hobby, but I think some of it has to do with the population in that grade and it is one of his more popular cards. So demand for it is pretty high.

I had a chance to buy a 72 Ryan PSA 4 on eBay auction. It sold for $70. Every time I look for 72 Stars. Ryan is always the highest. Even his raw cards in fair condition go for no less than $50-$60

Don't like the 1975 top set

It's certainly not for everyone. Some either really like it or really hate it.

    to answer your question
    6. willie Mays in an 8 301.00
    5. Clemente in an 8 327.00
    4. Homerun kings in action card in an 8 373.00
    3. Willie mays in action in an 8 380.00
    2.. Home run king in a8 400.00
yes there has to be some surprise that the Homerun king in action card is more than the Clemente and Mays card but e real surprise that Willies in action is worth more than his base card a real surprise.
looking at an older beckett who's Williams he's on the Oglive and Ron Cey rookie theres 5 cards that go for 100.00 and 2 that go for more.
it's hard to understand that the 2 biggest rookies don't make the list I have a problem with Fisk not being on the list. it's kind of like having a list of 1975
and not having Yount on the list. I understand with 1972 you have Clemente, Mays and Homerun king who are not 70's players there 50's and 60's superstars with 75 only Homerun king is in that set I still miss Clemente I have a player t of him he's not in the set and Mays isn't when you add in the in action cards it's 2 x2 which = 4 so so in action for 1972 2 players not in the 75 set it's like not having Yount in a top 10 of 1975 I think there needs to be more demand more people buying 1972 Fisk cards.. I'm surprised that the 72 Seaver, Carew, Bench are on the list and not the Fisk. I understand that Bench is the better player but your talking about a rookie card of a hall of famer I would have thought Fisk would have made the list.
the only players I would think that have more ebay purchases would be Clemente, Mays and Home Run king add in Ryan..
    questions
    1. I agree with you that theres only 1 hall of fame rookie card but there are some other rookies like Dave Kingman what do you think about his card?
    2. same condition which card would you rather have the Bench in action a 20.00 card or Kingman rookie a 15.00 card which would you rather have
Rose in action a 25.00 card or a Kingman rookie a 15.00 card?
3.. do you think the reason Fisk didn't make the list is because he's on a multi rookie card as opposed to his own?

    • @WadeBoggsFan
      @WadeBoggsFan  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Mark. Just because a player is a hall of famer and a great player, it doesn't mean that his cards are in great demand. There is often a difference between a player's career and interest from collectors in the hobby. Nothing against Fisk as a player, but Seaver, Bench, and the other big name players are more popular with collectors than Fisk, even his rookie card.
You mentioned looking at an old Beckett price guide. Remember, the prices listed in the Beckett price guide are for cards that are ungraded. So you can't compare the prices in the price guide with graded copies of the same card. Graded cards will always sell for more than ungraded cards.
      1. I think Kingman was a good player, but I'm not interested in collecting any of his cards.
      2. I'd choose the Bench In Action and Rose In Action over the Kingman rookie card.
      3. That might be a reason, but more likely for the reason I explained above.

@@WadeBoggsFan Yes I mentioned looking at Beckett the price giude is right near me and I don't have to type in everybody's name I just look through 1972 makes it a lot easier. i'm not comparing the cards next to each other just looking at what are the top cards and a price idea for Fisk.
that is surprising that Seavers 5th year card sells for more than Fisks, Bench's 4th year card sells for more than the Fisk rookie
it's weird you would think Rookies of Hall of famers would go for the most . But actually they don't in the 1970 set Munson goes for
      200. Bench 250, Clemente 150.00 Mays and Homerun king are 200 and Ryan's card goes for 500.00 I'm surprised.
I know in 1980 Henderson owns that set , 1979 Ozzie Smith , 1975 Brett and yount, 84 Mattingly, 83 Boggs, Gwynn and Sandberg
82 Ripken. i'm a little surprised that Fisk isn't in third behind Homerun king, Mays and Clemente.
      1. Yeah my mistake Kingman is in the set but not a great demand.
2.. for this set being it's a little older I would go withe Bench in action over Kingman rookie , I guess I will go with Rose.
      3. is a Mystery just like for Munson rookie.

Thanks Mark. It is very interesting sometimes which cards sell for more than others. That's why I like doing those videos. It interesting to see where the players fall in the Top 10 (or just miss the Top 10).

I feel like PSA 5 is just as good as a PSA 8. I mean they don't look that much different. Lol
