Having watched Ep.4 it made me realise what a catastrophic impact BSE had on farming and the beef and sheep meat trades. We really didn't realise how simple life was.

While filmed in a style arousing a sense of nostalgia, really is a justification for "modern" farming using modern machinery, pesticides, herbicides, and genetic manipulation, back before organic was a concept. Tearing up of hedgerows to boost production ( see ep. 1). Now they are taking land out of agricultural production to restore and preserve the environment. 😮

It's gone full circle as usual, everybody wants fat back again for the flavour that had been lost .

Chemists, chemical? Whatever happened to the good old natural, symbiotic, organic methods? Is it any wonder that once-common species like water voles, skylarks, cuckoos, are rare these days. We've poisoned the very land that we should cherish. All in the name of progress for goodness sake.
