How-to install mods and wads for Freedoom on Android

- Just thought I'd make a quick how to for mods and wads, freedoom is a free source port. wads and mods are at moddb.com and doomworld.com.
A quick recap-
1. download Freedoom in the playstore.
2. go to your download folder in your internal storage, create a mods & wads folder.
3. extract your files and move wads into your wad file, and pk3 and pk7 into your mods file.
4. use doom2.wad or freedoom2.wad as a primary wad to run other wads from your wad addons.
5. open Freedoom select wads and mods and launch.
leave comments if you need further info.
p.s. I do this for the doom community, I couldn't play this for the longest time so if this helps anyone else awesome. 👍🏻 much love.

I was having trouble finding freedoom on the play store and when i did sadly it said i couldn't download it because it was made for an older version of android. I'll see if i can get my hands on an APK version. Great video though, you've earned a new sub!

It doesn't launch mods for me, though i do everything like in the video. Instead it just launches a regular doom
Are the mods new or old? It may not run newer versions of certain mods. Usually the links i give for mods are outdated so they will work.
Or check to see if the pk3 file is in mods folder.
@@JoeyBullet222 I'm trying to run the version of Prohect Brutality you are playing with, but for some reason it just launchs vanilla doom without any modification (pk3 is in the mods folder)
@@nikitost0p85 hmm. 🤔 it does take a few seconds to start ... the screen stays black for 4 seconds before it starts

Im so confused as to how this works and why you need doom2 for the wad to work. So i cant just download the wads? I need to download another wad first into the root folder and the put another one same or different in the wad folder wtf? I used to build computers but for some reason this is confusing me.
I was looking for simple maps to add to freedoom, without having to download another file first- i dont know which "root" wads are supporting the sub-folder wads. I open freedoom and it says freedoom1.wad and freedoom2.wad. i want maps for my wad folder to run with these two main "wads".
I think im confused because wads are both maps and... programs to run wads? Need a wad to run a map wad.
Any wad you download borrows textures and other assets from original Doom 2 and Doom 1. When you download a wad it tells you in the text file which Doom file it needs to run. If you use the wrong one you'll get missing textures.
You can try running wads with freedoom 2 selected and they'll work.

Yeah it can, that's what I use in most of my vids.

Problem is that brutal doom v21 crashes depending on the map and crashes on doom 1 too, at least for me

This is the same process- thr GZDoom app is exactly like freedoom.

@@zakariapakuscp i just use the same process for freedoom, and it pops up under Freedoom in the internal storage, usually its alphabetical order.
