Notice how he neglected to discuss range of aircraft. I also feel replacement part estimate was short so $1000-$1300 per hour estimated cost. Not discussing range however was a huge deficiency in this!

While I don't buy aircraft, I do love technical specifications. I knew this aircraft could fly 35K ft, cos most turboprops tend to fly around 30-35K ft. :)

He is a great salesman for people who believe anything presented by a smart talking person! But the operating cost he mentioned, are not true even when jetA fuel was $4 a gallon. He makes it sound simple, but not true in reality! He says Fuel cost at $4 a gallon a year ago. But that itself is not true, it was NOT Less than $5 back then. A year later this video was posted, double that...so the fuel burn alone will be $1000 an hour+engine reserves+prop+ maintainance+insurance+taxes...easily $2000 to $2300 an hour to operate this airplane these days and that too assuming owner flies the airplane hinself and no need for him to hire a pilot! Not sure if this 350 is single pilot certified though! Basically a damn expensive turboprop to operate!

During the years of 1967 through 1969 I built the King Air vertical stabilizer, ailerons, elevator, and flaps at the Liberal KS plant which is long closed. The aircraft you describe likely used the same tooling that I used. A vertical stabilizer took two of us eight hours for a complete build. The King Air is a great airplane. Never got to fly one. The best I could do was the Baron.!!

It certainly wasn't something you would be proud of back then 😢
Many many hours of rework and repair were done before we started the modification.
      Such poor production quality.

We use that aircraft in Australia for a different purpose. We use it as as an air ambulance for the flying Doctor service in parts of the outback as well as. Packing up patients from rural city and taking them to the big capital cities hospitals for more urgent care.

Its a great run up the coast back to darwin. We picked up Rexy Granites one time, he had a bunch of paintings, as we took of he pull out one of them and spread it out. As we flew over he pointed out on his painting the exact features and distances on the ground. I said to him how many times have yu flown over this way. If I have the money, my first choice would be the Falcon 900. It has very comfortable seats, with two divans that can turn into a comfortable bed. It has a transcontinental range of 4850 nm, can fly in and out of 3000ft airstrips on light fuel and load, and flies over all weather at 51,000ft.
My second choice would be the Pilatus PC-24, which does all of what the King Air 350 does, but much faster, with a better degree of comfort, with a far better cabin, avionics and internet, and at 41,000ft. The capital cost isn’t any different, but that would cost twice as much to operate. United Technologies/Textron aircraft are usually overpriced. The King Air 350 ER at $ 8 million is priced very close to the Pilatus PC 24 jet at $9 million, when that has a much better build-quality and versatility and much higher speed, albeit a slightly smaller range. The Citations, again, are overpriced in comparison to their peers.
My third choice would be the King Air 350 ER, which has a range of 2650 n.m., so can even do Hawaii(the PC-24 can’t do Hawaii at 2,000 n.m.) and Europe via Greenland. It can do unimproved and 3000ft strips, just like the PC-24, and cruise at 35,000ft(over most, but not all weather systems), and is half as expensive to operate as the PC-24 at $1,000/hour, but it falls short of a jet in quality and comfort. I’ll never settle for a single-engine aircraft, like the PC-12, even it had the same range as the King Air 350 ER, so this would most likely be my budget option. The PC-12 has a far better build quality and even better cabin and avionics, but I’d never fly in a single-engine aircraft.
I’m usually not too keen on turboprops because these are more aerodynamic(they stall at very low speeds), the props spread the thrust over the wings for greater lift, they have straighter wings, less powerful engines, and are lighter than jets----all of the characteristics which make them easy and cheap to fly also make them more vulnerable in turbulence or inclement weather. Jets are far less aerodynamic, have swept or tapered wings, are much heavier, have far greater thrust(not spread over the wings), and need to increase the wing area with slats and flaps to lower the stall speed---all of the characteristics which them difficult, complex, and expensive to fly also make them more maneuverable in turbulence.

    • @lmandrums3118
      @lmandrums3118 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Interesting choices! The Falcon 900 is a beautiful airplane! Nothing can beat that 3 engine look! The PC-24 Is a great airplane too (on of the fastest on the market for that price) its just smaller and doesn't have the range to go far places as you stated. King Airs are great looking airplanes, I mean just look at that thing, its beautiful, but they are a flying brick. Most king airs cruize at around 250 KTAS (true air speed) which is slow. The PC-24 can cruise at 440 KTAS.
Have you ever thought about the Citation C700? That thing is a beauty. Is just as fast, (I think a little faster by like 50 knots) as the PC-24 and has a range of 3,500 miles. Its an AMAZING jet.

And for ur honesty. 1000 bucks per hour operation cost (plus financing the plane) is a serious number. But with 8 seats for business people it might still be efficient. A 5 hour flight is one way 600 bucks per person. Plus paid crew I suppose. Anyhow ... a gorgeous plane.

So, with full fuel and passengers, what is the max range of this KA350?

It’s a cool plane. I’ve flown this airplane in a computer with the Microsoft Flight Simulatior X. Not exactly the real thing, but close to it, only in my fantasies. 😂👍

This airplane is totally cool 😎! If I could live in a plane like this, I’d park a 1989 t top Trans Am next to the airplane!☕️☕️☕️🧇🧇🧇🧇

I understand Americans are proud of what they build but they cannot help saying that whatever they build is the best in the world..!!!.like those engines..at this level of tech & performance ,there is not such thing as a bad engine..,no matter what 'nationality'..!!

I would like to see it with a 5 bladed prop. I know that in the 200 performance is increased, noise and vibration decreased. Smaller radius and ground clearance, less risk on unimproved strips... Anyway great video, and a wonderful airplane. I have been lucky enough to pickup brand new C-12s (mil ver. KA200) from Wichita...

      Not really any better.
If it’s just a five bladed prop.. all it does is increase the noise because the passive noise cancelling of the fuselage is tuned for a four bladed prop.
If it’s on a Blackhawk.. the engine is still flat rated to 1050 HP but now it’s the much heavier -67 so performance suffers at low altitudes. And at high you’ll probably just run into MMO before you go much faster if you even have time to get up to FL350 before you have to come down again.

Well, I an very accustomed to the B-350 as on my sim I have a 350. (She is so good that she is hard to stall! I tried to stall her but no dice, VERY stable aircraft). Just one thing, why has the Garmin logos been fussed out on your video? (Or is that the registration number. I seriously doubt that aviation enthusiasts are going to track down this particular plane!) I had no idea of these features. Maybe through crowdfunding I can buy one and convert it to an electric medium sized aircraft. I like the circular windows and the polarisation for light adjustment. I LOVE the update to a fully glass cockpit! My Microsoft FSX is vintage 2006! Now there is a brand new Microsoft FSX.2020 came out last year (2020 of course). The graphics and sound are SUPERB!

Turbo prop aircraft are much more stable in high winds than regular jet turbine powered. Things to remember

As for the desired reduced operation cost of a turboprop, the PC12 makes a compelling reason not to buy KingAir. As for speed, ceiling, seating capacity and comfort, the Phenom 300 surpass the KingAir for slightly higher operation and acquisition cost.

Flew on a 300 yesterday for first time. Very nice jet. The one i flew on seated 8 max and that was with 2 on bench facing the door. Surely it is measurably more expensive to purchase and to fly, no?
