Pete Meets returns to the legendary Apex Electronics in Los Angeles!
On my last visit, we found a treasure trove of electronic history. The video went viral and sparked a wave of nostalgia from engineers around the world.
Today, we're not just revisiting Apex. We're diving deeper. My special guest is Dave Jennings who was awarded 4 Emmys for his work as a broadcast engineer on several olympics. He has a wealth of knowledge that he's eager to share with us.
Dave will be showing us around Apex Electronics and pointing out state of the art analog broadcasting gear that he used in the 70s and 80s.
It’s crazy to imagine but I made this video with $5,000 dollars worth of equipment.
The analog gear that Dave is going to show us would have set me back over $1 million dollars!

The electro-mechanical engineering that went into videotape machines was incredible, right?

As a former design engineer for the Grass Valley Group I'm delighted to see some of our hardware still drawing oohs and ahhs! I have a collection of GVG items that I restore and operate as part of my retirement hobby. Hope that you catch the Analog TV bug and bring us more to see. 73, de K7GVG.

Amazing that it took an engineer's whole attention to create a live fade!

Expensive equipment under the aircraft fuselage in the rain and weather?
