I was at ringside for this fight....Brian London's face was already bright red by the end of the first round, but he was a game boxer and he went the full fight.
I remember hearing this fight on the radio ad a boy, and when I was 12-13, I started boxing. My first tournament That I went to won my first fight just using my left hand. I don't remember ever throwing the right. Henry Cooper reminded me of my fight, although he used the right hand, not that much, he didn't really have to, he did all the damage with the jab. Two great fighters of their day, And I loved the sportsmanship of two of them AF the fight.
I remember a free for all in the Ring at the end of a London fight,( always contentious) when someone tried to get in the ring, and London head butted him. Probably about 1968-9. As a young guy,I thought it was hilarious. The Scot’s would call it the Glasgow kiss!
Good fight. I never knew Cooper had such a great jab. London is a wonderful sport, and his style reminds me a lot of George Chuvalo - keeps plodding forward, full of guts, and nothing looks like it hurts him or will stop him. Cooper would slaughter that foul-mouthed fatso, Tyson Fury...so long as he didn't get seriously cut.
Left hand from Cooper, fast and accurate, one thing I've always wondered, why didn't Cooper take the Patterson fight after this ? I know Patterson KOd Cooper years later but who turns down a title shot ?
I've got highlights of the first but I had to delete due to copyright, once my strikes expire Ill upload it again. I haven't got the 2nd one though, I'm working on trying to find a copy
Coopers Manager, wouldn’t let him get in the ring with Patterson,or Liston. Until later and I think he did fight Paterson. Probably because his manager knew how easily Cooper could get cut. And that was Coopers problem. He could easily have become a World Champion in those days. But for that problem. Loved Henry Cooper,my boyhood hero.
When the British Title really meant something. Thanks I really enjoyed that.

I met someone some years ago who was ringside for Brian's fight against Ali and he said the same thing as you.
The class of these stars of yesteryear in the post fight interviews is something to behold - credit to Brian London particularly.
"They've stopped the bleeding of Cooper's nose, but for how long, I don't know. Depends on London". LOL great understated British commentary.

Met Brian while on holiday in Majorca in the 60’s. He seemed a really nice guy.
Not just the Cooper left hook those jabs would loosen your teeth too. Thank you for posting!
Both true gents
Great stuff - well done for finding this !
Eamonn Andrews, great commentator. And an Irishman of course.
Graet stuff two fine men, thanks for the upload
Excellent
True sportsmen
Cooper nice jab London sharp right hands. Great Footage.
37:07 Oddly enough, it was London, not Cooper, who got a world title shot against Patterson less than four months later.
Those Cooper jabs are damaging.

Do you have the first or second Henry Cooper-Zora Folley fights?

@@NJM1016 Thanks Nick
So there were actually boxers who wore white boxing boots before Muhammad Ali.
Brian not putting enough pressure on you have to back cooper ok
Both very Tough fighters..And i can confidently say they would have bashed up many of todays fighters Technique & toughness are not based on Weight!

Patterson knocked him out in four rounds
Brian London born in West Hartlool then went over too Blackpool
Never knew that ,cheers.
Two words. Great warriors. Two words. Great respect. The only jab that would have taken these two warriors out, is the Covid jab.
I would have called that a draw.
London wouldn't, he was raising Henry's hand after the 14th round!
