  • The vinyl finds are heating up. Spring cleaning is here and I have been having some amazing finds. Also, another most wanted is crossed off the list. I add my 2 cents about click bait videos and add my 2 cents on new vinyl versus old pressings.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone! I appreciate all the support.

You are correct my friend! I want to see different records. I never want to see Beatles or Zep ever again! Great to see you!
    Cheers,
    Brian🍀

Many old albums were not made well even on major labels so a good reissue is always welcome.

Fellow Canuck here, new to vinyl when Covid started. I agree with ALL of your rant. I started with a Yamaha CA1000 from the 70's, now have a Yamaha A-S2200. Same goes for speakers. I owned many in the 80's and they were just not as refined.. Ditto for vinyl...new issues that are properly mastered from original tapes and pressed well can be quiet and amazing..

Glad you decided to start showing your thrift store finds again Nazz, always great to see records I'll never see in UK charity shops!.
I get frustrated with a lot of modern reissue pressings, because in my experience 50% of them sound a bit dull and still contain a few pops and crackles even after a thorough cleaning regime.
That said, if that's the only way I'm ever going to own that record on vinyl, then so be it.
Pays yer money etc...A few I've bought however sound fantastic, reissues of Scott 3 and 4 for example .( try finding an OG copy of either of those).
    All the best.Rob.😉👍

My daughter just happened to be in the room when I was watching your video David. Your Arctic Moneys announcement put a smile on her face. Totally blind sided her, thank you!

I still remember John Peel playing the first Stars of Heaven single ("Clothes of Pride") back in whenever (85-ish?). He commented that "even if they never release anything ever again they've still contributed more to the world than most of us ever will". Funny how things stick in the mind! 🙂

Pay attention to the tempo....great band.

Love the MOV re-issues. Fantastic stuff and they sound great. I just received Grand Funk's Closer To Home on MOV. I hope they do more GF. Also been amassing the Golden Earring MOV catalog. Currently awaiting the arrival of a bunch of those. Anthony (AGK) mentioned that we should get together and do a GE live stream. I'm down with that if you are open to it as well. The three of us could educate the world on this amazing band. "The Canadian Golden Earring Mafia", eh!

Yes. I’d love to see your technique for mold removal. As an older collector I appreciate your knowledge of music that isn’t Zeppelin, or Beatles. ( But isn’t that a mono White LP in the background?) I love the early 80s new wave music and have a lot, but I’ve certainly missed a bunch as well. Cheers

I am 52 years old, spoiled my hearing in several hundred punk and underground concerts, later on some wasted nighthours in techno clubs and since my mid 30s I have this decent surface noise John Peel was talking about...so, luckily I do not have to argue about a record pressing and soundsystem, sounding good or even better than something else...😎
And finally I definitely like your presentation of the variety of records and bands, it either reminds me for something long forgotten, like Therapy?, or it actually tells me something new. That's great!
    Cheers!

When you showed The Blasters LP my eyes lit up something fierce! I saw them on an amazing triple bill with Big Sammy and Reverend Horton Heat at a special Christmas event show in Buffalo on Dec 7, 2017. They absolutely kicked my aural & visual ass and I've been hooked ever since!

Some cool finds. Played Therapy? yesterday and it made me remember how much I miss going out for a beer with the guys... Post Corona is gonna be one helluva party!
As for what sounds better it's all in the ears of the beholder. I prefer CDs... I just buy vinyl for the cover art. 99% of my listening is digital. I have my own music server and have ripped my CD collection (and some vinyl) to lossless FLAC.

I agree with you 110% about discovering new bands. I’m always looking for new bands. I found one today from the original Canadian band Bush, a band called Prophet, a British 80’s Rock band and A Canadian band called Fist. Love finding out about new bands. There are so many bands that the VC doesn’t talk about and too many of the same bands that the VC ALWAYS talks about. You always find the best stuff David and are a breath of fresh air in the VC

Wow how could i forget about Therapy? I remember seeing them in 1994 at Reading Festival in the UK and thinking they were excellent and after you showing them in this video i bought Troublegum and their Greatest Hits (2020 Versions).

Curiosity Inc is an antique store in Edmonton. Alex (the proprietor) also has a TH-cam Channel, and is frequently picking up 60/70/80 vinyl in his picks. Do not know condition or price, but it might be worth checking out.

I love Tune-Yards. The very lo-fi first album Bird-Brains is my favourite but Whokill is great too. Gangsta was the big song on that album - a good system tester.

Great video, Mr Nazz! I like your rant! I just wanna hear good music, even if it's coming out of a tin can and string, just as long as it's music that moves me.

Big fan of that Therapy? Record. “Knives” is the best song that describes the band. Fast, heavy, maniacal and absolute lunacy.

I agree that technology has moved forward as far as playback equipment goes. Gear is generally made in smaller quantities, though, with fairly tight quality control. As far as records go, I think things have regressed. There are far more people pressing records who have not spent a lifetime becoming adept at pressing records and the focus is on non-stop production. A lot of new vinyl - granted, the major label stuff - is plagued by pressing problems. It's a volume game, not a quality game. That said, yes, there are some labels whose focus is on quality reproduction. Is the remastering always better though? Does every record in one's collection have to be a moldy oldy remastered by Kevin Gray to present us with a homogeny of sonics? Blah blah blah. And all that said... to each their own!
    Cheers, Tom

I love Therapy? so much. I started with Nurse. Then went back to Caucasian Psychosis, then Troublegum, Infernal Love, etc. I buy every new release.
Also, you’ve inspired me to resurrect my channel.
