Everyone’s saying great story telling...Ships are shown, TU takes off, Hornets and Tomcats line up, TU fires an anti-ship missile...but after that it seemed to be a bit disjointed. Maybe have a bit longer scenes showing where the fighters are headed, getting setup for a shot (I know, hard to do with a Phoenix 😉 ), etc. Still 8/10, good job!
the US navy would never ever allow a Fencer to overfly a frigate of their own Battlegroup. ....damn thing would have eaten a few SAM missiles minutes ago. Other than that, Pure Porn. "Tension" indeed!
Great video! Well done! I love videos with sort of a story behind it! Not just some random shots after the other. Also cool but not as cool as this! Will add it to my playlist and subscribe. :)
Hi, Amazing! It reminds me some scenarii of the famous boardgame of Victory games i mean Gulf strike. It seem that the NATO fleet have no CAP in flight... TU22M are a great threat for the carriers with their very High range ASM! Good days and flights! Chris 'Pitch'
Awesome video, really feels like the first act in a series. Hopefully building to a conclusion. One of the best DCS cinematics I've seen in that it really tells a story. My only two criticisms (constructive criticism because again great video) are that it's not very typical to send out a strike package that only consists of one Hornet/aircraft, normally there'd be at least two. And the other is when the Su-24's were attacking the NATO forward patrol ship, instead of showing Tomcats scrambling on a QRA to engage the Su-24's, there would have already been Tomcats patrolling on a BARCAP. Should of shown a E-2 vectoring them towards bandits and have the F-14's on that BARCAP be the responding aircraft. Oh yea, and the Su-24's probably should've had at least a two ship fighter escort. Same with the Hornet strike package. Probably a second Hornet A2A only two ship escort flight. But I'm just nit-picking. Awesome video buddy.
Thanks for the constructive criticism! This makes me want to remake my entire video... too many good ideas! FYI for the single f-18 I only did it because I didn't know how to effectively use a AI wing man for the ground attacks etc but probably could have done some editing to mask that or I could have taken the time to learn how to use them effectively... Anyway the F-14 idea would have made everything way better and its comments like this which I appreciate the most. Thanks for taking the time to write this. :)
Curious what Navy is doing for fleet defense. Lack of long range missle such as the Phoenix and F-14 combination. The F-14 had Mach2 and the Phoenix could take out targets from 75 miles away. F-18 only has Mach 1.5 and Ammramm -120 for long range
Hey L.A West, how do you create camera actions that move independently from the aircraft but still remain close to it, examples of shots 0:19 - 1:00. All of those shots in the time frame the camera moves freely and not locked to an aircraft or object, just wondering what do I need to do in DCS to recreate that camera movement?
All those shots are done with the free camera (shift or CTRL(I can’t remember) F11). I pause the game, match the camera speed with the aircraft then just get a nice shot. Sorry for the late response.
Guys, the UK hasn’t had the carrier to handle the hornets since the mid 70’s... I don’t know where you are getting your info but naval fighter aircraft have been as follows, f-4, harrier, and now the F-35. No f-18 in the middle... enlighten me as to where and when the Royal Navy has flown f-18’s if I’m missing something.
DCS will never qualify as a flight sim to me until they built missile systems properly. a 10$ worth chip can handle a missile and stop it from leading if its trajectory makes it crash on the ground/water. Missiles cost slightly more than 10$ ;-)
Tanguy Godeau and American style carrier battle group with tomcats all under Royal Navy badging... yeah I had to do a double take! An interesting alternate history for sure but highly unlikely. But, I do like the paint schemes!! 👍
Yes I know it's just a DCS skin that I was showing off along with the RAF F14. Both obviously never flew for the RAF. It was never meant to be realistically accurate hence the all out war that never happened in 1988. I just loved those skins too much that I had to include them.
It does. Honestly the entire cinematic is flawed and cringe worthy, but at the time I had fun making it. I'd say from my cinematic 'Red Flag' onwards I've focused increasingly more on realism, especially 'Legacy' where I've tried my best to recreate certain scenes 1:1 to the real thing. If you feel like taking a look at that video it better represents what I produce now. Thanks for your feedback!
Great edit. One of the best DCS videos I've seen in a long time. Congrats!!
That take off shot at 1:42 was awesome. Great vid!
Wow, held my breath the whole time. Thanks for sharing your hard work. Loved the camera angles!
After all these DCS Cinematics, me thinks *Top Gun 2: Maverick* is going to be boring in the aerial cinematography department. ;)
Have you seen this: th-cam.com/video/rlJBilaUOj0/w-d-xo.html
@@BuggSmasher I'm late.... Great find -- thanks!
same
Plot twist, it was actually good.
That hornet in the RN Sea Harrier scheme caught me by surprise
Really nice video.... Love the "story telling" aspect. Keep your good work ;)
Damn! Oh wow, this was excellent. Major props! Awesome!
thank you for this dcs vipe.
i salute for you sir 🫡.
Man that was good. Great job guys.
Love it beautiful video. Especially the Royal Navy F-18
Happy to be sub 1k for this. Absolutely awesome work! ♥

Great scenes and good storytelling!
Thanks! Worked hard to get that right on this video. Thanks for commenting! :)

Great compositions (visual and aural) for us "wanna-bes". Thanks for the efforts. RESPECT!
Nicely done..
Very good. Subbed
Good work dude :)

@@LAWest Not a problem at all buddy. Looking forward to more of your videos. Hit me up on Twitter if you want. I'm @theJoshRey I'll give you a follow.
Tomcats would of been scrambled way before the enemy air assets were just getting airborne. But nice vid 8 out of 10
Good to see 801 NAS kicking ass!

you made me turn blue.
dont worry, im breathing again
Love the Brits on TDY and kickin' butt!
That's not tension....
That's the opening a a full blown shooting war!
A masterpiece
Beautiful work
That's just...masterful!
Well done dude this is a masterpiece!
Best MV for DCS World!Thank your.
Great video, only issue is why are royal navy hornets taking off from us carriers?
What was the use of the Helis? Kinda missed the point of them

Royal Navy with Hornets and Tomcats? Yeah right
Alternate reality?
They have hornets
Ricardo Bonoldi Fortuna they have hornets lol!

And when docked for refueling, does the balancing computer work with the device?
WAOUH SUPER
Great edit quick question for the editor how do you get multi aircraft takeoffs?
Honestly I wasn’t expecting that to happen. I think its only possible with two AI?
Great video. Made my cat jump!
Really like your choices. I would love to be able to use your footage for one of my videos with your permission.
I'm gonna go launch it right now!
Awesome
nice
amaizing !!!
great video. America Prevails, season 20122087.
Peter Ott looks like the Royal Navy to me
I mean.... anything below 60 fps isn;t that cinematic, and not even 4k so...... Still, it was hard work and I applaud you for it :)

THATS correctly modelled for most missiles? However, guidance is… unreliable.
Royal Navy F-18 ?

I was either just born ,or baking.
Its was looking good up until the Royal Navy F18?? We don't have them and never will.

L.A West I deeply enjoyed the alternate history portrayal and the subsequent google rabbit hole 👍
😀😀😀😀
I don't think that such TU bomber would attack without escort.
Iran best
