I fish for baby eels on the river Severn for a restocking program for the sustainable eel group. I'm so pleased you let the eel go , it was definitely on its migratory path back to the sargasso sea in the Bermuda triangle to breed . Every eel is important 👍🤙
I will confess that I know very little about green eels. I do recall though, some years back a fellow angler on the Dee Estuary catching one and when I showed an interest, he explained that the species was in decline and that it was prudent to return all those that we anglers caught. I had no problem with that, as I definitely prefer Mackerel!
@@TheMerlin672 the species I catch are Anguilla anguilla . A Japanese scientist who spent his whole working life studying eels said on his retirement I know now what I knew when I started .. nothing ! Which made me laugh . they are such a mysterious creature and a very important part of the food chain for a lot of other animals . check out sustainable eel group here on TH-cam a guy called Andrew kerr does a lot for restocking behind man made barriers such as flood gates and weirs .
good on you mate, i used to eat jellied and smoked eels that I caught but haven't done so for many years as they're becoming rarer. I wondered if anyone has tried jellying and smoking congas as there seems to be many of those about, I would think coming from salt water they could taste better.
Jay! Cuttlefish aren't apex predators, there's plenty of things further up the food pyramid from them, I'd describe them as effective, specialised predators but also a prey species. Doesn't matter, he's bait now, lol! Keep em coming! Simon
And again my dear friend you’re making me hungry every time I watch you I want some kind of seafood but that’s OK I enjoy your content every time and I’ve tried a few your cook ups and they’re not too bad
Smash what best way to dispatch a lobster if your outside still as I need to dispatch some non native signal crayfish and thought it would be very similar
If you mix the sauce with the Prawns, they will stick together better and make for easier eating. Also, living In a small apartment with no grill, the bun on the toaster trick was a game changer for me! Definitely upped my bacon and egg roll game 🤗
Really enjoyed this video mate well done , What a surprise that turbot was mate NICE

What a cool night of foraging, I would have been snacking on the turbot rite about now! Lol

Wow,can’t believe how many different species you get round your way. I’m sure the turbot would have made a great catch and cook 😜🎣🐟

Nice vid, I went foraging today and had great fun, seen my first guernsey lobster but I was to slow and it just disappeared in the weed lol
Nice mate 🔥 glad you found a lobster
Absolutely lovely night adventure mates. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
For your next shrimp roll, try mixing the sweet chili with some creme fraiche. Milder rounder flavour matches the delicate seafood.
Nice! fancy myself a prawn sandwitch!
Great video. Baby eel's are used in cooking in most countries around the world.with baby eel's costing up to 1,000 euros a kilo

Great night out😎💪
How do you tell the difference between a sole and a top knot?
A sole is a slimmer frame like the sole of a foot , also a sand pattern , topknots are round and has a spotted pattern
Love the videos, where do u get the net from?
Perfect conditions , loved video....👏
Awesome video bud
Great video as always but why did you not keep that Turbot? Thought it was a monster? Lol
The turbot was a bit small to keep
Jellied eel? Ooh, not for me. I really enjoy the foraging videos. Jay, do you get blue claw crabs? They are popular here on Long Island in the summer.
Thanks Debra we don’t get blue crab hear I wish we did tho lol
Smash what best way to dispatch a lobster if your outside still as I need to dispatch some non native signal crayfish and thought it would be very similar
Next video we show it dude
These are so mellow, I just smoked a fat one, and going to sleep with this lol
Any reason why toi don't eat the cuttlefish?
Damn. . . I keep forgetting not to watch these before lunch! Now I won't be happy with anything I find in the fridge!
How many prawns did you eat lol??One of my favorites..Looks good.

Hell ya, woo!!
Love the t shirt
How many did you eat mate? That’s why I don’t bring the crayfish home😂😂😂
🔥🔥
If you like to get more prawns use a lamp thats waterproof. they will go to the light
I will try soon , thanks for watching 🔥
@@SMASHFISHING thank you super looking forward to seeing
Do you ever eat the Wrasse?
No
If you mix the sauce with the Prawns, they will stick together better and make for easier eating.
Also, living In a small apartment with no grill, the bun on the toaster trick was a game changer for me! Definitely upped my bacon and egg roll game 🤗
Can’t judge you for eating prawns as you shell them, my weakness is shelling peas and shelling prawns. More goes in the mouth than in the bowl.
❣️❣️
❤️🔥🔥🔥❤️
lettuce and seafood sauce lol
How's the family
Great thanks
where is the puppy.
Why eat those tiny shrimp but then use the nice cuttle fish for bait.
I would have eaten the cuttlefish
Weres smash the dog
Where's smash the dog
At home haha
Some of the best foraging and the worst cooking Iv seen on TH-cam
