Shelly this is so good! The distinction is sorely needed in this space, especially for our ice dancing friends :)

It's so interesting how a majority of my skating life, my coaches never told me these differences. It wasn't till I got into ice dancing and coaching where I was learning and seeing these different Mohawks. It's so good for skaters to be informed and to try these out!

Thank you! I've just started learning the closed mohawk. This tutorial is great Shelly, very informative and you've broken down the stages so it's easier to pick up xxx

Great tutorial! I 've never tried a closed C-turn, but now I must try it. I love open c-turns and 5 step sequences :) Thank you.

I can do forward inside edge, I can do backward inside edge but everytime I try to do open mohawk forward to backward, I just can't get backward when I switch, either stuck there or go forward☹️
"Flip hip" is new keyword to me🤔, maybe because I didn't flip my hip, going to try it again on my next skating session.

Yes when you are about to step backwards, try turning your hips to backwards. I usually see a lot of skaters trying to step backwards but their shoulders and hips dont flip to go backwards.
