Edward Henry KC is someone who I’d never want to be on the wrong side of and who I would absolutely want on my side if ever I ended up in court.

He's a very sharp operator, and has a lovely way of being politely menacing to potential hostile witnesses :)

There are a number of barristers and solicitors who should be investigated by the bar for professional misconduct. This oily little creature is definitely one of them. He's either incompetent or he's criminally negligent, either way he should not be allowed to continue to practice law.

@MrDarkweaver Oily is definitely the word. Its sad that lawyers can care more about winning g then the truth.

@@Eric-ot7en With an adversarial system, that will always be the case. The problem emerges when one side has too much money, power and leverage that they can effectively game the system in their favour.
However that said, some of the lawyers who were either part of POL, or the firms that were hired by them, had definitely at the very least committed misconduct, a few inadvertently, others deliberately, some through sheer incompetence.
I do expect the bar to investigate and sanction a number of solicitors and barristers associated with both criminal and civil cases.

Altman QC - Brian Altman’s role in perpetuating the Post Office scandal is self-evident. He gave advice which helped a bent client keep a lid on a gargantuan miscarriage of justice. Whether that was down to any professional failings is in issue. Altman had sight of clear evidence of criminal activity (orders to shred documents, misleading a court), massive failures of disclosure (the Misra case), prosecutor misconduct (the Hamilton case), yet he somehow managed to give advices (and, later, set court strategies) which were neatly in line with his client’s wishes

@@davidworsley7969 Are you honestly saying a lawyer answering questions at a public inquiry wouldn’t watch any of the previous witnesses. Mrs Misra is there every day and Mr Henry is a regular questioner on her behalf. This isn't a criminal court case where you’re not supposed to know what previous witnesses had said.

There are several lawyers who have let down both themselves and the legal profession. There are a couple whose conduct even fell below what is legally defensible in my view and who need to be prosecuted by the Police and CPS on our behalf.

I thought very early on all this could not be done without the solicitors and barristers ignoring the law. None of this could have happened without them. I simply don't know how 700 plus Judges could have all been duped in the same way? Maybe the whole system is rotten. He who has the most money wins.

@@ronyagpd I'm pretty sure CP were forgotten by all including the Judge. Independent Expert - one Judge even asked GJ if he was influenced by his employer still took 'his' evidence. It shows you that Judges don't read what is produced as evidence and stop these glaring errors. What maniac came up with the fact that computer evidence is correct. New is almost always wrong. This now makes the defendant guilty unless proved innocent.

@@ronyagpd What I cannot understand is that there was no evidence of theft - high living, expensive holidays, new cars etc. So why did all the judges and juries conclude that the charges were proved beyond reasonable doubt? It seems to me that they all said that if the PO claimed the defendant was guilty then they must be guilty. Why weren't there any enquiring, sceptical judges and juries? These trials went through on the nod apparently. Shame on the lot of them.

5.26 Do these witnesses not realise that once evasion tactics have failed, they operate with twice the force AGAINST you?
This is a textbook case of how the right not to self incriminate is an eggshell protection against forensic questioning that inexorably leads to there being exposed a factual situation completely devasting to the witness.
A half decent barrister could expose this but Henry is devastating, pitching the sense of outrage perfectly and adopting just the right withering line.
Why don't they just own up and put themselves out of their misery?
