One thing i love about Strianis playing and albums is that he is not just showcasing hes technics all over the place, but instead writes enjoyable melodic music thats easy for anyone to digest, unlike many other "super heroes"... no one whants to listen to 60 minutes of frethboard mathematics and how many notes you can strike in 5 milliseconds... Music is about feelings and emotions, mathematics are for engineers and physicists

Couldn’t agree more! He can do the fancy stuff but he knows when and just how much to throw in. I preach this on my channel often, about not trying to be the fastest or most technical player because that gets boring after about 30 seconds.

@@jasonstallworth Great to see someone talking sense, i mean this technical stuff is getting out of hand and honestly its starting to kill the essence and the spirit of music.

100% agreed, when learning to play guitar - a lot of people get discouraged because others can shred and they can't. In reality you don't put music on to listen to pure relentless shred (unless you're a purist I guess lol). Satriani's music is so well structured, he provides strong melodies and every other song feels like another genre.

I like to think I'm a decent guitarist....then I watch Joe's videos, see him casually demonstrate the many, many weapons in his arsenal, and listen to him talk about high-level concepts very matter-of-factly. Joe is one of the best of all time and these videos are both awesome and humbling.

@@bongjovi4928 Yes you are, don't worry, you'll find out sooner or later. Satriani is not a genius, not even close. The word is used too easily, too often and more importantly, for the wrong people. He is a good guitarist but technically not as great as many others ( Shawn Lane, Guthrie Govan, Vai, and so many others). He makes arguably better although I'd say more accessible music by making simpler but more melodic music than most other guitarists. He has some beautiful songs but none of them should be considered genius. Simple as that.

One of the best guitarists ever. Joe uses the blues scales a lot. My favorites always been & always will be Randy Rhoads, where he was going with music changed the whole game. Taking Classical & Rock doing a Hybrid with it was genius. If you are a guitarist look it up and do some exploring with this, if you love music like I do, you will appreciate this. If you start learning & stick with what Randy was doing it will open you up to a whole new way. Blues are great, however, I feel limited, it's all one thing. The Classical Hybrid is a lil complicated, but endless, I don't feel limited. Hard to explain what I mean until you acually try it. My friend always used blues scales for everything & disagreed with my opinion of limited, but he finally tried what I found, then he understood my opinion of limited. Thanks!! Start with easy stuff, even maybe try Randy's "DEE" & the solo from "Goodbye to Romance" is fairly easy. Then move on to ACUAL Classical and the stuff Randy was working on!!
