    Awesome tutorial as always! It would mean a lot for new users if you can make a video about the differences between the part and part design workbenches and when and when not to use them in their work flow. Because as a new user it becomes a bit confusing to have 2 workbenches that are almost identical but not quite. Thanks!

      Thanks great that you are still following along and sharing your opinion, thanks for the kind comment. I do have a number of videos in the schedule regarding working with both the Freecad part design and part together. I will add your request to the list.

    Hi, just found your tutorials, I'll probably binge watch your whole channel for the next month. The flow in your tutorials is so linear and clear.
    Your views number should be 100x times high.
    Just here to thank you and let you know that the "Curved Shapes" workbench (Different than the Curves Workbench you showed) has a 1 click (+ refine) tool to create notches.

      Thanks for the kind comments and the feedback. Great to hear I'm getting things right and welcome to the channel. Thanks for the heads up, I haven't dabbled deeply with the other workbench, it's on my list but it looks promising. Thanks for the information.

    👍👍👍👍👍👍 Ok, next step would be to use LinearPattern to do cut to achieve many slots

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can only do that if the slots are consistent, if the cross pieces taper or the spacing differed between profiles then a linear patten unfortunately won't help. But look out in a few weeks as there is something coming up in that area.

    Fantastic as always and very helpful to my radio controlled airplane project(s).

      Thank you for your support and comments. And sharing what projects your are using this for. Gives people an idea of what FreeCAD is being used for.

    That was very useful, thank you. I appreciate this is a teaching exercise but as a practical point is there any simple way to add clearance to the cuts? E.G. if I wanted to 3d-print the parts I imagine there would be problems in assembly due to the pair of slots being exactly the same size.

      Good question I wish I thought about this situation before I posted the video as the solution would of enriched the video. If you create and use a part 3D offset for the cutting part then you can create the necessary offset you require. I am trying to figure out how to add a image to this comment but having no luck so I will have to post it to the community section. Thanks for the question, I will get the image up in a minute.

      @@MangoJellySolutions is the 3d offset a feature of freecad or so you have to do it manually?

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@williamweatherall8333 it's in the part design. Also you could use a additional extrude in a custom direction. Think I might do a follow up video.

      I had exactly the same question. Maybe we can use freecad variable feature and define a new dynamic beam that is linked to to original beam except that it has it width and height define bu the dimensions of the original beam plus an offset distance (variable). ?

  • @BrainDeadEngineering

    Wow huge ! how did I miss this .this may of saved me. I'm build a huge fly wing 2400mm wide, 60 wing ribs that I need to install support beams, bridging through and such , lot of perforation! I just did a wing one by one cuts ( killing me and side tree is like 10 feet long now ( If I compound them all and do my thing like you show here , If I delete the compound will the cut still reside in all the pads? Every rib has a different shape and I need individual access to make a DFX laser files for each rib. Or do I still get that access after. Sorry I'm old and I am scared !

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  ปีที่แล้ว

      Woooh that is some build!!! The compound still has to stay but it can be hidden. Side note: It may be worth exploring the common boolean feature as well in the same kind of set up which may come in handy for you for other features.

      @@MangoJellySolutions thanks bro . I was thinking same . The boola has more power then touch and cut maybe.

    Hello. Is possible export a indipendent sketche from a document to another doc and from a pad to another pad in the same document ? Thank you. P.M.

    • @MangoJellySolutions
      @MangoJellySolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes if you create a new document you can copy and paste sketches from one to the other using ctrl c from one and ctrl p in a new document. I have never did this with a pad though.

    Isn’t this slot creation possible by intersect command and after delete the intersecting part and ready?

      @@MangoJellySolutions I tried and it worked, not quite sure how to reproduce it though but combo view indicates Exploded slice (of two 90 degree crossing bars) and after I performed a cut taking out the slice. I could email a screenshot if you like but I can't find you email address as yet.
