In 1983, I was asked to prom 3 days before the event. I wasn't planning on going and thought about turning the offer down but my Mom talked me into it. As a plus size female from birth there were not a lot of options for prom gowns in a size 18. There were a few that were too mature for me and I would have loved to have been able to wear that champagne gown to prom. You will make one girl a very happy princess with that gown. I ended up with a light pink dress, off the shoulder that stood the test of time in pictures but I remember feeling so dejected after not finding my size in so many beautiful prom dresses. My date wore grey tux with a light pink shirt and we both had pink and white in our boutineer and corsage. MEMORIES!!
Thankfully, the fashion industry has finally recognized that young women come is all sizes. I'm glad you found a classic gown and have good memories of your prom. I'm curious, are you and your date still in touch? My date was my high school sweetheart. We went our separate ways in college and married other people but have remained friends. In fact, he and his wife invited me to their wedding.

That one was a shocker- I didn’t know what the box pleats would do, but the cut was so slimming! We were filming at my in-laws country place and my father-in-law told me I should keep that one, because it was his favorite. He is not one to flippantly give any opinion, so I know he liked it!

Number 5 with the long sleeves fits you beautifully. Number 2 was stunning on you. Didn't care for the short one. I too, wear a size 12 shoe and trying to find a pair in 1976 was a nightmare!! Now we can order online. The day of my wedding i had a hoop skirt under my gown. When i went to get into the limo, the winds whiooed up, my hoop came up over my head, and everyone saw what Hod gave me!!🤣🤣🤣 The beige gown could go for a prom gown.❤

My friend Erin started a shop called Perfectly Plus Bridal in Fort Worth, TX, i'm so grateful for her because not only were the sample sizes bigger but it was the only place I went that gave me options outside of the like 2 styles that you can find in the area. They do prom too and it's so awesome. I've gotta check out jj's house!

They were all very pretty. I think you should send the champagne colored and the short white gown for prom gowns. My favorite which surprised me was the long sleeved one. It was beautiful. The short one was almost an accident waiting to happen. lol. A wind comes by and everyone will see your business. lol. My two favorites on you would be the second one which you were glowing in and the long sleeved one. Although the champagne one was also very pretty on you. I liked the second dress that you tried on and the champagne dress. The first one with sleeves is beautiful and looks good on you as well. The one armed dress would look great on the right figure. I wouldn't be able to wear this one either because of my stomach. I am sure they would LOVE the champagne dress for their prom but I think it looks more like a wedding dress either for the bride or maid of honour.

That was so fun! I bought my mother of the bride dress from JJ's House and I was very pleased with what I got. My son and his wife had decided to get married in two months and I was working so much I didn't have time to go shopping. Turns out my DIL for the same time constraint ordered her wedding gown from Asia though I'm not sure where. I had forgotten this, and now I will make sure to tell my daughter's. While I love the show Say Yes to the Dress, their prices can be pretty staggering.
I LOVE JJ’s House. I also like Light in the Box. I got a beautiful ball gown for a formal wedding, custom made for $137. I’m really short and at the time I wore a street size 20. Now I wear a 14.

Jennifer, that is amazing!! Congratulations!! I did not know what I would think about that one because of the box pleats, but it was cut so well!! It is by far the heaviest dress, and took forever to steam (the satin wrinkles so easily!). Let me know what you end up choosing- I just love weddings!

I really liked the long sleeve gown and the champagne gown. The champagne gown could absolutely work as a prom dress. it is a beautiful dress that any young lady would love to wear to prom. As a former high school teacher in the Houston area, I believe that it would be a hit with a senior/junior high schooler.

I found you a few months ago and i think this is your best video yet. I love how special you made it with all the accessories and the outdoor setting was gorgeous. I watch a lot of jj's house try ons in case i have a more 'normal' second wedding, and there is no comparison to how special and well done this video is. I loved both the long sleeved dress and the champagne dress. Would loved to have either of them for my wedding 30 years ago. (Hated my dress) The champagne dress works as a wedding dress but I think you should donate it as a prom dress. It is so hard to find plus size formal dresses and not everyone can afford them. Love it thank you.
I loved the long sleeved dress. I think it was the long V neckline. And the surprise of the open back. Lovely! And I was also surprised by the asymmetrical dress. I really liked it a lot. The short one, well, it was too short. I wonder if they didn't really take into account how tall you are/how long your legs are. It was almost too too short!! Thank you for the variety of videos you are doing & thank your husband for the (mostly!) behind the scenes help. And love the final destination of these dresses! Maybe I'll pull mine out of storage and donate!
That short one was shockingly short- I considered not putting it in, but I think it is good information- I am very tall and gave them my height, so the long dresses were perfect, I think they may have lengthened the back and left the front where it was for the standard pattern I was so pleasantly surprised by the sleeved dress!! Hi Meredith...I very much enjoy your videos and have been watching almost from the beginning of your channel. We wear the same size although I am close to 10 inches shorter than you and have a few decades on you as well. Even at that I find that a lot of our taste in clothes is similar and I can't TELL you how I wish a lot of the clothes you feature here had been available when I was your age. There was little-to-no plus size clothing for young women when I was first married so my mother bought the largest pattern available and modified it to fit me then made up the wedding dress I said I wanted. The dresses you featured in this video were almost all lovely (with the exception of the "Marilyn" dress) but the dress I liked best was actually the blue floral one you wore in the segments between wedding dresses. It suits you so well and you look fantastic in it.
I got that blue from a Stitch Fix box and I have gotten so much wear out of it- it is just lovely!! I feel like things have come a long way in plus size clothing in my lifetime- and when was younger, there was an avenue and lane Bryant. I cannot imagine how difficult it was in years previous! Thank heaven for your mom- I am sure that you would have loved to try dresses on in a store, but her efforts were so much more valuable than any store bought dress ever could have been!

Congratulations on 45 years!! I don’t know that I would want to renew vows, but I could totally get behind a party wearing a wedding dress! I like the idea off a celebration! Had the short one been about 4-6” longer in the front, I would have really liked them all- but they all did fit!
The Champagne gown is gorgeous and a color that looks great on a lot of people I think if you get a lot of traffic at your wedding location send it there as not everyone can wear white or ivory and look great also love your videos and your awesome gifting to the community!

1987 I saw this dress hanging at our local bridal shop..the train was fabulous ! As if it was the window in a cathedral ! I fell in love! But knew no way..wearing a size 24/26. The associate saw the look ,she asked if / what style, ideas I had. Of course the Bridal magazines back then, no such thing as plus size. Stood mezmerized . She explained it could be custom sized. Back then.,..blew the budget ! At $800+ no idea todays cost ! The sample was an 8 , Hard to imagine even today an 8 is considered low end of plus size !! THIS comany & you showing these dresses is so beautiful !! Already loving the cloud look of dress one ! ASK when you go to your local shops!! IF the dresses can be ordered to size!! Oh dress two ¡ The bead work !! That lace!!
The lohg sleeve one was absolutely perfect on you. I would send the one dress to the prom place. Just my opinion. Thank you for showing us these dresses. They were all pretty.
Gowns 2 and 5 were WOW! When I got married I didn't even try to wedding dress shop. I knew there would be nothing out there that I would feel pretty in. I opted for a light pink floral dress with tiny pink flowers on it. But, we got married (here in Arkansas) in the Little Log Church. It is an 1800's log cabin church down a dirt road, that is 24 feet square and comfortably seats 36 people. We invited 32. I'm a gardener and grew all of my own flowers except for my bouquet, which I completely forgot about and stopped on my way to the wedding and picked from a field next to the road. (Thistles and Daisies) It wasn't formal at all but was just perfect, completely our style and there was almost no stress involved. Loved this video and will pass JJ's House info on to others. You have to love a company who sees women where they're at and caters to them.

The long sleeved was my favorite on you as an actual wedding dress!! The strapless champagne was beautiful too but I agree with it leaning more towards prom wear. I actually just used JJ’s for a wedding I am in. I chose the straight sizing as opposed to sending in my measurements. Had to go up 2 sizes but I guess that’s pretty typical for formal wear. Had to have the length altered as well as the straps to fit my chest better but overall I am pleased with it!! Can’t beat the prices either or the try it on at home option!!! 👍🏻

They did a video consultation with her for only the regular $20 fee. They are the best formal wear shop in the world. Hey, Meredith! I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel a couple of months ago! You're such a bright light and such a giving and kind person. I loved every single gown you chose. Of course, some were better than others on you - as would be true for everyone. But the opportunity to see different styles and the workmanship was wonderful! A little something for everyone plus the assurance of quality and the accuracy of the custom construction (assuming the measurements are correct - I've never understood why anyone would lie when giving measurements for an important dress, but people do all the time!). Such an array of styles and the long sleeves are wonderful for those who marry in the other three seasons - especially in the north! Short sleeves look silly (IMO) in winter in a couple of feet of snow leaving choices of longer sleeves or strapless (cold but its own look and good for any season). Because of the custom feature, they all fit very well. I liked them all - even the short one! Maybe on you with adjustment of the length and skirt proportions it would work. I actually liked the overall vibe. But what a perfect dress for a young lady who wants a fun, slightly less formal wedding, but nothing too unconventional. The column dress would be perfect for an older bride, I think. And I do think it would show at its best on a very straight figure without the curves most of us have. This is a chance for someone of that build to really show off that figure type. The only thing I didn't like was the that the bow and long tails were made of a chiffon that was too lightweight. They should be a bit heavier to flow down without being flyaway. The others were really very nice - and nice on you. The prices were astonishing considering what wedding dresses cost in a salon. You're going to make some young women very happy, indeed! 🩷

I love them and you for doing this video! Completely needed for plus size dresses. The champagne dress would be great for a bridesmaid since it comes in so many colors. A lot of brides just choose a color and let everyone choose their own style. I think my favorite on you was the long sleeve.

Wouldn't the long sleeve dress be beautiful for a winter/Christmas wedding. I loved that one. For you, I have to agree with your favorite. I am glad you tried all kinds for your audience. The two you mentioned (the short and last one) were not good but any of the rest were beautiful. The champagne one would definitely look like a beautiful prom dress, but also a great wedding dress with the ball gown underskirt with it. WOW the one shoulder g9wn is suprisingly beyond !! Can't describe ! Has traditional look with the chiffoñ as you said gives an illusion of veil. Great knowing another outlet to find plus sizes in bridal.
I ordered my custom sizes mother of the bride gown for our sons wedding 6 years ago. It was gorgeous and fit beautifully and totally priced right. JJs House continues to rattle the cage of the wedding industry. Good.

They were all very pretty. I think you should send the champagne colored and the short white gown for prom gowns. My favorite which surprised me was the long sleeved one. It was beautiful. The short one was almost an accident waiting to happen. lol. A wind comes by and everyone will see your business. lol. My two favorites on you would be the second one which you were glowing in and the long sleeved one. Although the champagne one was also very pretty on you. You know actually I think all of them were very pretty on you. God Bless

I liked the second dress that you tried on and the champagne dress. The first one with sleeves is beautiful and looks good on you as well. The one armed dress would look great on the right figure. I wouldn't be able to wear this one either because of my stomach. I am sure they would LOVE the champagne dress for their prom but I think it looks more like a wedding dress either for the bride or maid of honour.

That was so fun! I bought my mother of the bride dress from JJ's House and I was very pleased with what I got. My son and his wife had decided to get married in two months and I was working so much I didn't have time to go shopping. Turns out my DIL for the same time constraint ordered her wedding gown from Asia though I'm not sure where. I had forgotten this, and now I will make sure to tell my daughter's. While I love the show Say Yes to the Dress, their prices can be pretty staggering.

I LOVE JJ’s House. I also like Light in the Box. I got a beautiful ball gown for a formal wedding, custom made for $137. I’m really short and at the time I wore a street size 20. Now I wear a 14.

I did not know what I would think about that one because of the box pleats, but it was cut so well!! It is by far the heaviest dress, and took forever to steam (the satin wrinkles so easily!).

I really liked the long sleeve gown and the champagne gown. The champagne gown could absolutely work as a prom dress. it is a beautiful dress that any young lady would love to wear to prom. As a former high school teacher in the Houston area, I believe that it would be a hit with a senior/junior high schooler.

I loved both the long sleeved dress and the champagne dress. Would loved to have either of them for my wedding 30 years ago. (Hated my dress) The champagne dress works as a wedding dress but I think you should donate it as a prom dress. It is so hard to find plus size formal dresses and not everyone can afford them. Love it thank you.

I loved the long sleeved dress. I think it was the long V neckline. And the surprise of the open back. Lovely! And I was also surprised by the asymmetrical dress. I really liked it a lot. The short one, well, it was too short. I wonder if they didn't really take into account how tall you are/how long your legs are. It was almost too too short!! Thank you for the variety of videos you are doing & thank your husband for the (mostly!) behind the scenes help. And love the final destination of these dresses! Maybe I'll pull mine out of storage and donate!
That short one was shockingly short- I considered not putting it in, but I think it is good information- I am very tall and gave them my height, so the long dresses were perfect, I think they may have lengthened the back and left the front where it was for the standard pattern

Hi Meredith...I very much enjoy your videos and have been watching almost from the beginning of your channel. We wear the same size although I am close to 10 inches shorter than you and have a few decades on you as well. Even at that I find that a lot of our taste in clothes is similar and I can't TELL you how I wish a lot of the clothes you feature here had been available when I was your age. There was little-to-no plus size clothing for young women when I was first married so my mother bought the largest pattern available and modified it to fit me then made up the wedding dress I said I wanted.
The dresses you featured in this video were almost all lovely (with the exception of the "Marilyn" dress) but the dress I liked best was actually the blue floral one you wore in the segments between wedding dresses. It suits you so well and you look fantastic in it.

I got that blue from a Stitch Fix box and I have gotten so much wear out of it- it is just lovely!!
I feel like things have come a long way in plus size clothing in my lifetime- and when was younger, there was an avenue and lane Bryant. I cannot imagine how difficult it was in years previous!
Thank heaven for your mom- I am sure that you would have loved to try dresses on in a store, but her efforts were so much more valuable than any store bought dress ever could have been!

Had the short one been about 4-6” longer in the front, I would have really liked them all- but they all did fit!
The Champagne gown is gorgeous and a color that looks great on a lot of people I think if you get a lot of traffic at your wedding location send it there as not everyone can wear white or ivory and look great also love your videos and your awesome gifting to the community!

1987 I saw this dress hanging at our local bridal shop..the train was fabulous ! As if it was the window in a cathedral ! I fell in love! But knew no way..wearing a size 24/26. The associate saw the look ,she asked if / what style, ideas I had. Of course the Bridal magazines back then, no such thing as plus size. Stood mezmerized . She explained it could be custom sized. Back then.,..blew the budget ! At $800+ no idea todays cost ! The sample was an 8 , Hard to imagine even today an 8 is considered low end of plus size !! THIS comany & you showing these dresses is so beautiful !! Already loving the cloud look of dress one ! ASK when you go to your local shops!! IF the dresses can be ordered to size!! Oh dress two ¡ The bead work !! That lace!!

Gowns 2 and 5 were WOW! When I got married I didn't even try to wedding dress shop. I knew there would be nothing out there that I would feel pretty in. I opted for a light pink floral dress with tiny pink flowers on it. But, we got married (here in Arkansas) in the Little Log Church. It is an 1800's log cabin church down a dirt road, that is 24 feet square and comfortably seats 36 people. We invited 32. I'm a gardener and grew all of my own flowers except for my bouquet, which I completely forgot about and stopped on my way to the wedding and picked from a field next to the road. (Thistles and Daisies) It wasn't formal at all but was just perfect, completely our style and there was almost no stress involved. Loved this video and will pass JJ's House info on to others. You have to love a company who sees women where they're at and caters to them.

The long sleeved was my favorite on you as an actual wedding dress!! The strapless champagne was beautiful too but I agree with it leaning more towards prom wear. I actually just used JJ’s for a wedding I am in. I chose the straight sizing as opposed to sending in my measurements. Had to go up 2 sizes but I guess that’s pretty typical for formal wear. Had to have the length altered as well as the straps to fit my chest better but overall I am pleased with it!! Can’t beat the prices either or the try it on at home option!!! 👍🏻

I have never seen such beautiful wedding gowns for plus size ladies. They are stunning. You looked gorgeous in them. How could you choose? I know I didn’t have much of a choice.
Hey, Meredith! I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel a couple of months ago! You're such a bright light and such a giving and kind person.
I loved every single gown you chose. Of course, some were better than others on you - as would be true for everyone. But the opportunity to see different styles and the workmanship was wonderful! A little something for everyone plus the assurance of quality and the accuracy of the custom construction (assuming the measurements are correct - I've never understood why anyone would lie when giving measurements for an important dress, but people do all the time!). Such an array of styles and the long sleeves are wonderful for those who marry in the other three seasons - especially in the north! Short sleeves look silly (IMO) in winter in a couple of feet of snow leaving choices of longer sleeves or strapless (cold but its own look and good for any season).
Because of the custom feature, they all fit very well. I liked them all - even the short one! Maybe on you with adjustment of the length and skirt proportions it would work. I actually liked the overall vibe. But what a perfect dress for a young lady who wants a fun, slightly less formal wedding, but nothing too unconventional. The column dress would be perfect for an older bride, I think. And I do think it would show at its best on a very straight figure without the curves most of us have. This is a chance for someone of that build to really show off that figure type. The only thing I didn't like was the that the bow and long tails were made of a chiffon that was too lightweight. They should be a bit heavier to flow down without being flyaway.
The others were really very nice - and nice on you. The prices were astonishing considering what wedding dresses cost in a salon. You're going to make some young women very happy, indeed! 🩷

Wouldn't the long sleeve dress be beautiful for a winter/Christmas wedding. I loved that one. For you, I have to agree with your favorite. I am glad you tried all kinds for your audience. The two you mentioned (the short and last one) were not good but any of the rest were beautiful. The champagne one would definitely look like a beautiful prom dress, but also a great wedding dress with the ball gown underskirt with it. WOW the one shoulder g9wn is suprisingly beyond !! Can't describe ! Has traditional look with the chiffoñ as you said gives an illusion of veil. Great knowing another outlet to find plus sizes in bridal.
I ordered my custom sizes mother of the bride gown for our sons wedding 6 years ago. It was gorgeous and fit beautifully and totally priced right. JJs House continues to rattle the cage of the wedding industry.
