Hi there. Thank you for the informative video. I live in Orange County, CA. I came out to Vegas for Christmas with my in-laws. I took my nephew out yesterday to Saddle Point. We caught a few stripers and a catfish. I plugged you in my TH-cam video. Thanks again and happy holidays!
Always a fun time. Saddle point holds us a special place for me. I moved here from the east coast 10 months ago. It was the first place I went to when I moved here. Good stuff buddy
Hello sir, I enjoy your channel. You do a great job. Question: I have a new Hobie kayak. I transport it in my P/U truck, 2WD,....so to avoid getting stuck, I have only gone to Hemenway (horsepower cove area) it's convenient to drop off, park and then paddle away, .......but there's too much noise from other craft launching in the area. I don't yet have the experience to paddle miles away from my vehicle to get away from boaters. So my question is about Hatchery Saddle Cove area,.......like I said, I have a P/U truck, a Toyota Tundra SR5 but it's 2WD. Heavy truck, but still only 2WD. Does Hatchery Saddle point have access to a spot where I could launch the kayak easily. I mean I know I can take the road to the parking lot I see it on Google maps, but with the water level changes the shoreline changes. Now that government wash road is closed it's making the closest spots very difficult for me to get to. If I launch the PWC beach I'd still have to paddle about 3 miles I really don't want to do that is why I'm asking if there's a way to do it at Hatchery Saddle Point with 2WD. I see you have a small vehicle SUV and parked it up top. I really want to be able to fish where my truck is. Or at least have it in sight from a half a mile or a mile away. I appreciate your time maybe one day we'll bump into each other on the water.
I’ve taken my small 2wd car (Hyundai Accent) to Hatchery Saddle Point several times without any problems. I see several people launching their Kayaks there as well. I know a few spots are sandy so I’d be careful but I tell people to just go and walk the bank to get familiar with the location first. You will know if your truck will be fine or not. I hope this helps. And yes if you see me out there let me know. I would love to meet you. Thanks for watching and tight lines!
I do have waders but the water level is too high to get across. The day I was going to take the kayak it was too windy so just fished from shore. I just fished at Special Events Beach using waders and was able to catch 3 stripers. I’m editing the video as we speak. Thanks 🙏
Hi Renee, thanks for watching my video. The gloves in this video was the one from Amazon. I got them when they were on sale for about $6. Hi Angel! Hatchery Saddle Point is near the fish Hatchery of Lake Mead. The GPS should direct you there and you won’t need a 4 wheel drive. I walked to the end of the peninsula and fished on the right (deeper) side. I hope this helps. 😁
I don’t have a 4WD also and usually park at the flat spot before it gets sandy. I like this spot because compared to other spots you don’t have much of a hike and you can easily cast to the deeper spots from shore.
I was there Saturday but due to the higher water-level I couldn’t get across to fish in the deeper water. There were several anglers but most didn’t catch any stripers. After a few hours, I switched to carp set up and was able to get 2 carps. I hope this helps.
Channel cats are the most resilient species in the lake... Will survive almost any environment that every other species would quickly perish in... From having difficulty removing a swallowed hook to the trip home in ice, icy water, water, whatever.... And they usually hit the hardest too.
I agree. I never caught one bigger than 4 lbs. at Lake Mead but I met someone who showed me the 10 lbs. channel he caught at Hemenway last year. Hopefully one day…
@@Busydad yeah me neither, my biggest is like 3.5lb.... But my friend snagged one at government wash back in 2019, 5.2lbs... And he got it with a popper lure lol... In like 5ft of water too..he likes to fish for the black bass in the coves...
I’m sorry the horse flies ruined your outing. Luckily, I haven’t had to deal with horse flies… yet. Sometimes swarms of gnats have bothered my and last month a pesky coyotes kept bothering me wanting my catch. I guess it’s all part of fishing. Anyway, I appreciate you watching my videos and I wish you the best of luck.
@@Busydad the coyotes I don't mind, I carry bear spray, fireworks, and other things for that... Ya the gnats can be annoying but they don't ruin a trip.... Just wait until u get pestered by the ferocious, loud buzzing, & ultra fast horse fly.... They're everywhere along the banks of the North shore road Access points.... Absolutely relentless lol.... They don't stop either, coming back every like 7 minutes to try and get that blood lol....I grew up at Stewart's Point practically.... My grandparents had a cabin before the government came in and booted everyone out, right before they commenced the massive lake drain.

Never knew about this spot. Looks very nice!
Yes, it is easy to get to without much of a hike and you can reach the deeper section even though you’re fishing from shore.
