A walk around into the past. Brings memories of a Daewoo Cielo ad i once saw in the newspaper as a child. For kids like me who rode the extra front seat on the Bajaj chetak, these were full on aspirational and out of reach. Thanks Faisal for bringing the nostalgia back.

Maruti 1000 was a car that was unknown to many of us but it's a sedan version of Maruti 800 that also is a unknown unique knowledge.
when i was planning to buy a secondhand car in 2018 i got chance to buy this model car but some one suggested me there are no spare parts availability so opted ti indica v2 but maruti esteem is nice looking car during 90s when we were in childhood this car seems to be the dream for an middle class family in those days this car has most executive look when compared to ambassador and premier padmini dont understand why maruti discontinued this model inspite of huge acceptance from customers
I daily drive a 2008 esteem in 2022. Expected Faisal to give a proper drive review of this car because I'm planning to have a 1000 or type 1 esteem next year🙂.

30-40 year old car what did you expect faisal😂😂 but i liked the 1000, it was such an icon after maruti 800, we were like OMG big car, they must be super rich, and then we saw inception of esteem then we were like okay 1000 is esteem now? Did they change the name? Nice memories bought back Faisal.
Power Window is amazing. I never see such type of power window.
We had a second hand 1000 which was 93 make and we bought it in 1998. Had lot of fun. I actually drove it at 140 kmph (my top speed, not the car's).
As far as I remember it used to have only one exhaust. There was no suzuki badge at the center of boot lid, instead on the left side maruti suzuki (hindi/english) was there. On the center old maruti logo was there that looked like 'M'. On the steering wheel Maruti in hindi was written. Our car was not like this one, it was spotless like brand new in maroon color. The modifications we made were changing the logos to esteem LX and 1.3 L stickers near the side indicators and long taillight covering the number plate like on esteem.
Maruti 1000 this car was used by Hon'ble Prime Minister Lt Rajiv Gandhi. In 1990 it was priced around more than 5 Lakhs.
